MDT introduces the HNT26! A 26 Ounce Carbon Fiber Hunting Chassis.

LRI did all of the work on the barreled action for these three HNT26 hunting rifles.

My rifle's specs:
  • Remington 40X titanium long action receiver (1 of 9 made)
  • Skeletonized long action bolt with carbon fiber bolt knob
  • LRI aluminum picatinny scope rail
  • Bix'n Andy Pro-X trigger with gator shoe
  • Vortex AMG 1-10x24 black scope
  • OPS AWP 1.125" military surplus scope rings
  • Proof Research 20" .300WM carbon fiber barrel
  • PTR Vent 1 3D printed titanium silencer
  • MDT HNT26 long action carbon fiber stock (folding and Arca)
  • MDT adjustable buttplate
  • Aftermarket buttpad
  • MDT 3 rounds polymer magazine
  • Backlanz carbon fiber bipod
My rifle currently weighs 9 pounds and 3.5 ounces with these parts. However, I'm waiting for a new scope and scope mount, and I'm going to lighten the adjustable buttplate. Doing so will drop the weight by a minimum of 10 ounces. Once I make these final modifications, this rifle should weigh about 8.5 lbs or possibly less. And that weight includes the scope, silencer, bipod, and empty magazine.

Below are the two HNT26 hunting rifles that I gave to two of my friends as gifts. Their rifles still need the new trigger, adjustable buttplate, aftermarket buttpad, and bipod.

The two rifles below have:
  • Original US Army used Remington M24 receivers (with FOIA paperwork)
  • Mk13 bolts with carbon fiber knobs
  • Remington M24 trigger
  • NightForce ATACR 4-16x42 scopes
  • OPS AWP 1.5" scope rings/mount
  • TBAC Magnus silencer
The stocks, barrels, and scope rails on these two rifles are the same parts as the ones on my rifle.

hate to see best ag land on earth trashed. not a fan of nuc fallout. think best bet is for Putin to turn loose FSB and Spetsnaz on Z and his whole crew. they already tried to take Putin out with drones. so,the usual don't take out foreign enemy leaders is off the board. or,he could drone Z back. the Jews have had success with directed strikes. read they just took out the head of Hamas in Gaza. he could drone out Macron,Merz and Starmer.

Correct. I've had offers for people wanting to part it out but I just haven't been bothered to go that route to be completely honest. Which I get, the AMG is an older discontinued optic and I'm sure most people are wanting to throw something better on. To be completely honest I was only wanting to sell it to get out of some debt to make life a bit easier to go back to college. But I decided I'm just going to sell my house and use the equity to pay off old student loans, credit cards and pay for school that way. 😅😅

Super interesting book: The Undoing Project from Michael Lewis (Liars' Poker, The Big Short, Money Ball). Money Ball (2003) as many know from the movie was about the way in which the Baseball Market perceives talent and the ill application of such perceptions. NF ATACR 5-25×56 for comp rifle

I could get a 7-35 used for the same price but that’s my only option.

So far I don’t like the locking button on the 4-16 turret. Just don’t like the ergo of it. Great turrets though. Illumination is not daylight bright, and the mag ring is really stiff. Parallax knob a little loose. Main gripe with the NF is 12 mil turrets instead of 10. Makes me have to count instead of just instantly knowing what the elevation is by looking. Looking for a solution to that still. Ocular housing lock ring design is a plus for me because I like a long length of pull and is more user friendly to be able to grab the whole thing, rather than reach farther up to find the skinny mag ring on most scopes. Being able to grab it with the whole hand also makes it easier to move overall. Still feels way too stiff for my liking. Hoping to somehow fix that as well. I can see why people don’t like it though because if you don’t tape it or torque it on extra tight is easily comes lose. Plus you can’t run a rear scope cap.

I have a 5-25 and it is one of my favorite scopes, I also have a 4-20 on my work rifle and it is great scope as well.

And I own a fair amount of high end glass, and never feel like the 5x25 has bad glass. Could just be the examples I have looked through though.

given the criteria, I would go with the 4-16, or heck go with the new atacr 4-20, your talking 1 inch longer and 5oz more on weight, get the good glass and 20x magnification.
