Horse Power, Track Shit, Torque, Cubic Inches, Liters, Run What Ya Brung, Auto or Cycle

Finally had a chance to visit the Shelby American Museum located just North of Boulder, Colorado.
Only open on Saturdays 10-4.
They have some amazing cars on display…..jaw dropping history and knowledge from the entire staff from the moment we walked in.
They have Shelby GT350 car #1
With a great story on how the 350 got its name.
In building #2 they have several GT40’s, new and old.
The actual cars from the historic La Mans race win were there as well, incredible!!!
#1 Ken Miles.
#5 Richard Bucknum
The third GT40 is on display back east somewhere.
Highly recommend if you get a chance. View attachment 8663146View attachment 8663147View attachment 8663148
Gunbarrel, CO. The best $5 ever spent. Looks like they have changed the layout since 2023. All three winning GT40's were there then. Used to be in UT until Larry Miller sold his racing venue to the chinese.

If you can, be there around 1530, they often fire one of the cars up.

LMT Barrel conversion review and accuracy report, before conversion vs. after D Wilson conversion

I have a similar report.

Just got my barrel back maybe a week ago but took it out yesterday. I didn't shoot a lot but the accuracy held. I was hesitant with this barrel to begin with but it seems to have gotten sorted out.

Pre- conversion

It was pretty windy and didn't feel great on the tripod but I'll test POI shift more later but if there is any it's not much.

I wish I would have built this gun a long time ago. Colorado is forcing my hand so I guess it's time to build a large frame lol.

Gas Block Problem

Now take the upper off, remove the BCG,and take the bolt out. Reinstall JUST THE STRIPPED CARRIER and turn the upper upside down. Tilt the upper fore and aft to allow the bolt carrier (again, without the bolt) to slide back and forth. When the gas key meets up with the gas tube, doe it make more than just a slight amount of contact? If so, move the bolt carrier back and forth by hand and watch the gas tube to see if it moves in any direction when the key makes contact. If it does move, you may be able to very slightly "tweak" the tube in the direction it moved until it does not move. Be extremely careful if you tweak the tube.

NYC and those pesky helicopters

Looking at all the videos and images, it appears that a catastrophic failure of the transmission or turbine, rotors appeared intact with the mast and tailboom appeared to separate intact as well.

Maintenance records will tell part of the story, but I suspect we'll see a lot of litigation before the whole story comes out.

It's a sad situation for everyone involved, especially the families left behind.

KAC vs Radian Model 1 vs JP enterprises ctr-02

I have several versions of all the rifles you mentioned. They are all excellent for different scenarios. For what you are looking to do I would lean towards the Jp. A great, accurate rifle to sit behind all day at the range.... if I was going to war or wanted one shtf rifle it would probably be an LMT or the Knight's Armament. I love my Radians fit and finish, but for the price I'd rather be in an LMT
Even if SHTF, would the JP hold up to some abuse and be reliable? There's no reason I can't buy another down the road. JP ctr-02 for now then a LMT later on lol.

Best Budget .30 can

I've got a OCL 5.56 Polonium K that I really like. Back pressure seems to be pretty high but I'm happy with the can. I'm sure the .30 Cal version would be just as good.

I think that OCL has become the standard for traditional baffle cans that don't need to be Ti and just need to supress an AR. They are cheap and not ugly. The YHM band of bullets around the base just kills me.

Any reason you never see builds on Winchester Actions?

What side of the bed did you wake up on, I replied to this because I bought 2 supposed m70's at a gun show years ago that were M54's with M70 barrels screwed on and I recognized the foreword screw going through the recoil lug and the part of my reply about the trigger is because the m54 has a trigger very simular to a military mauser. nothing I wrote was designed to denigrate anybody or swell my ego, your is plenty for all of us, I don't have ay idea why replying to an old post has anything to do with this information and with your attitude in life I would suppose you have a lot of experience with old girl friends. better get back on your meds

When the post you quoted was made, Obama was still in office man. In fact, the the entire thread had stagnated and died off back in 2014.

It never hurts to check the date of something before you hit "reply". But don't worry, we've all probably done it once before.

^ However, most of us aren't accidentally reviving an old thread to try to correct about the only gunsmith who is helping us (the Win 70/FN SPR crowd) stay current with new factory DBM bottom metal and services like rebarreling and bolt bushing. It is the equivalent to walking up to Carrol Shelby and telling him the difference between Ford engine blocks of the 1960s.

And yes, I've had a lot of ex/old girlfriends.
