Interesting… and raises ethical questions!!

think you are right. don't look like renditions i have seen of dire wolves. whatever. gonna be another hot topic in places like this. that being the value and fun of the pit.
You've only seen artist's conceptions of dire wolves. Leaving the real/fake arguments aside, these are genetically identical to the extinct animals known as dire wolves, and that is how they looked as juveniles 12,000 years ago.

Keep in mind these puppies are now the size of gray wolves and will continue to grow for another eight months. That said, they are not going to be anywhere near as huge as I've seen them often depicted.

Mangy dog

How many acres? We only have 80. I haven’t lost any calves to coyotes but I have lost 2 to the black buzzards a few years ago
Glencoe, Ok

700 in Push Co.

Black buzzards are more of a problem than anything else. Why they are protected* is total BS. We typically don't mention much stuff about them. Although I think you can get a permit to kill a few now and hang them up. I guess some people think that would scare the others off, but it doesn't.

Hog hunting rifle choice

Those are some trusting dudes if they let randoms come in and shoot around the dogs. I'm assuming that they are just bay dogs and not catch dogs.

Wonder if/what the additional charge would be for busting the dog?

We have some good ol' boys around here that do the same thing, but they use catch dogs as well and the client gets to stick the pig in the heart with a knife. I don't have a problem with that...outside of those good ol' boys just bring trapped pigs up here from TX and turn them loose to hunt. Those hogs frequently find their way onto my place (and others) where they do a ton of damage. Then the good ol' boys get mighty upset when I start thinning "their" pigs out.

It is a very interesting thing out here - pig hunting that is. A lot of dog guys don't get along with each other because of the competition. It is very clan'ish.

If the shots are right up close, I don't think you'd go wrong with just about anything. Sometimes having the advantage of a semi-auto might be nice here.
Pretty ballsy transporting pigs across the border. Isn't that a HUGE fine?

OK this actually brings up a need I have - do they have something like this in a consumer type version? I'm not talking about the ones you buy at Harbor Freight, Northern tool, etc that have a handle and wheels - those suck. I need to pick up lots of nails from a pile of pallets that were burned.
Something like this maybe…Going to need to mount it on something. They make a small 30” one

Or, if you need something small, this little one that pulls 100 pounds would do the trick

Sounds like all this is is genetically modified grey wolf made to LOOK like a dire wolf - beyond appearance it's still just a grey wolf, albeit a genetically modified one.

So, not a dire wolf brought back from extinction....

Guys it's last call tomorrow. I'm not beating anyone up but here is who we haven't heard from to my knowledge.

@Toftwo
@Monty111
@dpw4x4
@5077
@Stevo86
@molonlave

If any of the above sent in the order and didn't receive a confirmation. Beat me up so I can get your copy to you.

If you don't want one... not a big deal. I'll just cross you off the SH list that I had going.

I just don't want anyone to be forgotten about. That's all.

Later, Frank

The real issue is the advancement and acceptance of human genetic engineering that comes from the learning by way of these experiments. Customized babies, humans bred and modified for certain characteristics, etc.
They posit that is already happening in china, and we all know how that turns out.

Mangy dog

i thought feral dogs and coyotes ran in the same nitch and actually interbred if the yotes didn't eat the newer to the feral life dogs. no personal experience,just wondering.

Out here they run separately. There are several neighbors within a couple mile range that have somewhere between 5-10 dogs that just run loose. The problem is that they pack up and turn into 70-90lb coyotes. Add in that a ton of dogs get dumped out here every year by worthless individuals.

I've not lost a calf to a coyote to my knowledge. I've certainly seen yotes run deer here.

I have lost calves to dogs. I've seen dogs pack up on my calves before. I've seen dogs pack up and chase my cows before. And dogs definitely like to run deer around here too.

They sell large ones for trucks /plow blade attachment etc..but I never saw a powered one for outside use
