Helos 2-12

This I go everywhere do everything rifle. Spends more time out of the locker than in it. It’s been ridden hard and put up wet. Still keeps going and still holds zero. I e only checked zero 2x with this rifle and it was perfect so checked it again yesterday after putting a 20 MOA base on it because I had Burris 2pc XTR bases before.

After dialing in 5.5mil for the base I shot 3 to get a ball park. Those are the 1 low shot and the 2 high ones. I walked away and loaded 3 more 77gr in the mag and and shot the 3 that’s a cluster. I was shooting my chair with garden sticks.

That 10.5 AR is a mean mofo.

Don’t worry about the dot being too big on the 2-12. Just use the top of the dot as a fine aiming point. Dot is .3 mil so 1.08”. I used to think it was too big also but adjusted to it and it’s been fine. It’s an awesome scope for killing things. Mine has nuclear bright illumination.

I wanted a hotter flame, so I switched to a swirl flame head. I find the swirl flame works quite nice as it tends to wrap more around the neck and shoulder area producing pretty consistent results for the whole 360°. I did have to make sure the angle/direction of the flame was pointing a little more towards the mouth as that wrapping of the fame produced more of a bulge of the flame below the shoulder. That bulge tended to heat more below the shoulder than I like and changing the angle is the way to control that.

The 12 firings I've got from my Federal .308 brass using moderate to hot loads is out of a factory bolt action with a premium barrel. I imagine an AR10 platform with looser chambers than typical bolt guns would certainly shorten the life of brass, like Federal that has a bit softer material than something the like LC brass.
