When I see things like this, I'm certain we need another civil war. It's beyond time to eliminate these folks.

Democrats really are evil, awful people. I had a few former friends I worked with in the military that have become more and more vile after they retired. One of them now flies and American flag upside down at her house, dyed her hair purple, got a nose ring and screams constantly about nazis and her "reproductive rights". She is sterile, fixed after a couple of kids and her crotch had been pounded more times that Mike Tyson's speed bag.

She links her ranting to a chat group for retired unit members and occasionally I tell her to get a grip and stomp her stupid ranting. Last week one of her looney friends took the time to call me a nazi and to threaten me. She said," You posted using your real name and we know how to find you, you better start being careful." I was unkind in my reply and reminded her she can be found as well.

Cheering for children to die is par for the course for a democrat. They rooted for Hitler during WWII. While most politicians are absolute fucking scum, no matter the party we might take a minute to admire Lyndon Johnson. A democrat who raped a young Mexican student when he was a school teacher before getting elected to congress and fathered a child with her. Came to congress as the poorest member of congress in the early 1930's and was the richest member by August 1945. Bankrupted the nation during the Vietnam and left the presidency as one of the richest politicians in American history, having not done an honest days work in 40 years.

Next fall they will elect a communist, illegal immigrant as mayor of New York City. A man who has declared that he wants to end the "housing market" by eliminating all privately owned homes and apartments in the city. (It is clear he wants to stuff people in your home and force the former property owner to pay for their care and feeding) His dream is communal living where families share the kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and get a bedroom or two for every four or five family members. Government groceries, from government controlled stores that will decide what you are allowed to eat and how much you pay for it. All based on race of course, he wants "white people" taxing at high rates while the browner you are the lower your taxes. Free reign for criminals and illegal immigrants and he wants no more local policing or arrests for crime. He wants to remove all federal law enforcement from the city, essentially creating a fiefdom within the United States.

This guy will win with 60% of the vote and oddly enough he will be funded by leftist billionaires who will not pay taxes or relinquish any property to his control after the election.

Fuck all democrats, especially the ones on snipershide.

Not much no, but mirage is a good place to test DOF. Not the derail this KHALES thread, but the Tangent for example is very very good at DOF and a good example of that is being able to see mirage in layers almost. Like you can see the mirage closer than the target if that makes sense. Scopes can’t cut thru mirage that doesn’t exist even tho people say that a lot. What good scopes do is place the mirage and target in an almost 3D image so it isn’t flat like say on a vortex razor 2.
All that to say that’s why I decided to run the disk on the march during heavy mirage, I wanted to see what it looked like and how it would treat mirage etc. I shot some stages with it on and some without. Under the time constraints of a PRS stage, you don’t notice the change a ton. Zeroing at 100 you can if you’re paying attention.
Very good explanation, Theta does well also because of the ratio they have in lens with the length of the optic as well as coatings. Will is correct mirage doesn’t just appear based on the name on the side of the scope it’s how the scope handles it and allows the shooter to use it that is what people really see when they say “cutting through mirage”. A prime example is when you look through Swaro Binos and can see layers of the mirage as focus to the target location.

It’s also a misinformation when folks say the mirage is worse when you magnify into a target. The optic didn’t get worse as you changed the magnification of the sight picture but your perception of the target picture surely did. The dancing edge of that target is still doing the same thing you just can see it more. Higher mag ranges in fclass for example the mirage looks rough but the ability to accurately see the edges of rings is still easier.

Really didn’t see a need to shoot anymore so seasoned my barrel back up with Eley Match. Then shot these groups at 100 with a lot of Tenex I had and two different lots of Match.

Did the disk help mirage at all? Not sure it that’s it’s main reason of being or (vs. DOF increase).

Bud if you think I personally care what your opinion is your mistaken, the fact is other shooters DO think differently from you and they HAVE made the comments as such.
Bud, I definitely don’t care what you think about my opinion LOL you aren’t that important. You started the shill job and I replied to another poster trying to shine some light on their question about why you were going so hard for March. You addressed me first, otherwise I wouldn’t have even responded to you and let you keep digging the hole even deeper.

Active shooter killed in attempt to ambush Border Patrol agents in Texas

Outstanding....thanks for the info, Terry.

And was it actually Mozambique? Couple of shots the body armor and then kill shot to the head? At least that's my totally ignorant knowledge of what that term means.

Cheers
Good question and I have no clue.

**and Yes. You have the correct term. Just don't know if that is literally what happened.

I'm guessing more like starting center mass and keep moving up until he's down. Those guys aren't your average cops when it comes to gunfights.
Good ole' Miami Vice style Mozambique would be cool but not likely. LOL.

Reputation for standing up for friends when someone’s a dick to them for no reason and calling out claims which simply aren’t true? Yeah no thanks. The haters can hate and I ain’t afraid to stand up for shit. The 540i doesn’t have a tight eye box at all and will knows for dam sure what he’s talking about. Not to mention yeah I’ve shot all those scopes too. So whatever. You don’t like my delivery? That’s fine. Let’s chat and I’ll try to do better in the future. But none of that makes me wrong and if I am ever for whatever reason I’ll admit it and try to learn.
BJ that’s just it dude your opinion is yours, others can have their opinions too! None of that changes that they don’t always align man. Your reputation proceeds you for past things but honestly I’ll be the first to say I think the chads a very nice system I personally like it. In fact I own a several TMB and have talked to you several times and we actually got on just fine. The internet often delivers differently than folks intend and snipers hide might be the worst of that occurance.

Regardless enjoy what you like and shoot what you want I passed feedback from shooters my opinion here is obviously bias which is why I didn’t bother to offer my opinion.

I did shoot the 5-42…..in matches….literally posted stage footage on my instagram. Even with the unfocused camera. If other people feel differently then have it but you’re paddling upstream at this point.

The most interesting books of the apocrypha are not those omitted at Nicaea. As a Christian who has been studying the canonical Bible and the Apocrypha for thirty plus years I find those books to be very unconvincing and obviously don't belong in the Cannon at all. Things like excluding first and second Maccabees are more meh. My proclivity would be to keep them in, but I can see why someone might think they were less important in the cannon. Anti-Christians like to make a big deal out of some of it (like the ridiculous writings of the Gnostics) as if there were some controversy, but these were as rejected and heretical in 325 as they are today. There was never any controversy in rejecting them as completely uninspired and the fodder for fringe cults. That some of it supports the pre-existing opinions of Atheists and anti-Christians is their only utility. When putting the cannon together, clearly these books did not belong, and you don't need to be some Bishop in 325 to easily determine that when reading them.

As far as translations, I'd say that we discuss, compare, and contrast the different ways the Bible is translated at least every other week. Unless you are fluent in Greek and Aramaic it is simply a fact that they have words with specific meanings that don't exist in singular words in English. The most widely known example of this is that in English we only have the word "love", but in Greek there are eight different words for love that have each have specific and unique meanings. They don't translate except into English phrases, which makes it harder to actually understand it. Going back constantly to the Greek or Aramaic is very common and typical in Bible study across the nation and across time. To believe this is some new or esoteric practice is as absurd, as to believe that there is malice or intent to deceive in the translators. To be sure, the deeper you go the more effort it takes, but we are literally commanded to delve ever deeper to understand. The Bible is shallow enough so you won't drown, and deep enough so you will never find the bottom.

What I find far, far, far more interesting are the books that were excluded a thousand years or more before Nicaea. They are the ones that the Rabis kept out of the Torah because of things like they mention or are fully about angels, which is blasphemy to Jews. When I read those books they seem to fit and dovetail perfectly with no major or minor departures from the rest of the Bible. Yet, they are not in our Bibles because they were excluded from Torah as heretical. Yet, the New Testament talks quite a bit about Angels and considers them almost unremarkable and a given, so it seems to me that revisiting some of the books that the Jews rejected is at the very least not a bad idea. They're all available online for free. I found "The Book of Noah", and "The Book of Enoch" both interesting and very thought provoking, especially how they dovetail with so much of the rest of the Old Testament. If you don't believe in angels, I can see why you would discard them. If you do, then they seem to fit right in.

Talking about "religion" as the cause for man's ills, is as silly (ignorant really) as blaming "government" for all man's ills, as if they were all the same thing, and there was no difference between any political ideas/ideologies or different forms of government. In the end it's the ideas that matter, so when one religion tells people to murder unbelievers, or that stealing is a godly act, and another to pray for your enemies; saying that the two are no different is false on its face, and makes you sound really dumb. Also, ascribing all man's proclivities and failings to religion, rather than our central problem (knowing right from wrong and still choosing wrong), also completely misses the mark and makes you sound ignorant like you are simply regurgitating the platitudes of someone with no depth of thought. All religions are an attempt to solve for man's failings through deeds and works by believing in a higher power...except for one. There's only one that says it's the very belief itself that offers a way out, and that actions don't earn you anything if they are not directly a result of that belief... THAT is pretty interesting when you compare and contrast the world's religions as a pure agnostic.

I fricking hate Swaro/Kahles as a company due to their lawfare, but, uh, man, @Onebadstang16 you're not doing yourself (or March) any favors here.

@X-ring mentions the 540’s eyebox at about 5:30 here. At 40x he calls it “super super forgiving.”

Ray is a good shooter. 🤷‍♂️

And yes, he doesn’t appear to have a March vid on his site. And no, I’m not making any claims one scope is better than another…heck I want March to be better.

No dog in this fight. I’ve never looked through either scope.

But I am a potential customer.

For those who have peered through both scopes, perhaps a calm description of each scope’s eyebox would be helpful?
Man I appreciate your comment I do as a potential customer, however in the comparisons that I’ve been informed of by actual shooters on the firing line it’s been commented that the wide angle optics are tighter on the eyebox than standard. Which actually agrees with the design compromises of a wide angle optic, they do have a tighter eyebox by nature versus a standard lens configuration, however they offer a massive FOV Increase. It’s a calculated compromise for optics manufacturers, the Kahles has huge FOV but that design requires a compromise even with a 52mm ocular design. Kahles didn’t make the ocular 52mm for no reason, just like March didn’t make the ocular 46mm and choose 26 degrees for no reason. It’s a compromise… I’ve been careful not to put my own opinion on these threads and if you follow me post you’ll see I don’t generally shit on any other optics as a rule of thumb. However just because someone disagrees with the statement doesn’t make that individuals statement any more or less true. The reality is every optic has compromises in them, the kahles has some areas that need attention based on those discussions and it’s been noticed by shooters.

Again I came in here to comment both the march compared to the kahles and posted, it was the individuals here who felt the need to personally attack me. I simply passed the opinions I had received on to this forum.

I’ve spent considerable time behind all of the scopes and I’ve compared all of them quite heavily in fact it’s part of my role to know the market. But my opinions aren’t posted here if you ask for them I’ll gladly give them to you personally.

But to sit here and discredit other shooters comments because you or anyone else disagrees is the very nature of a forum and debate. The same folks here who are belittling me for the passing of opinions are the same folks who expect their opinions to be fact.

Go get behind the optics yourself, do your own comparison like shooters already are and form your own opinions. I’ve said this 1000 times over now on this forum… ALL of the top scopes are good every one of them has pros and cons. The optics market evolves and so does that’s known as the top scope, zco didn’t exist a decade ago, no one knew who the hell theta even was then either.

Agreed.

About the DOF of the 5-42, did you ever try that March MD disk (modifier disk)? I take it that it increases DOF. Should be included in the box.
View attachment 8723312

The description in the link references competitors’ increased DOF needs. Knocks down some light; not sure how that affects comps during midday.
I did, and it was included in the box. A nice touch I must say. I used it in a couple matches during the summer time when mirage was really bad. Over 100 degrees ambient temp. It worked okay and the light reduction wasn’t enough to be noticeable but it didn’t make a huge DOF difference either.

AB Quantum 3.4.4 Vector X, Max Ord, Max Ord Range, Trace & Dialed Elevation Tool.

@DocUSMCRetired please add ability to drag/move targets on the list in the order (i think its best then to order by distance - now it seems first comes first listed) and also when lasing usually you hit button several times to make sure reading is correct and every lase = target which can be annoying so me thinks a way to "quick delete single target - swipe right/left for example with menu delete like gmail app or something similar" would be perfect opposed to coding some special algorithm to "take one of many consecutive readings within x distance". Sorting by column might also be good feature like name, distance drop....

Otherwise today we again played with range cards and lasing and i must say "it simply works" its like in the arty units point click store send use without any fuss really nice and quick way to store target data cudos dudes...
1) We will discuss this.

2) If you want to laser a single target over and over, you can highlight the Target on the Target Card and it will only update that target with the Range Finder.

3) I can share this so we can discuss sorting by a specific column.

Rifle Scopes New for 2025, the Kahles K540i

Your experiences don’t mimic those of folks actually shooting the optic in competition so I guess we can agree to disagree. I will say all wide angle optics will inherently have tighter eyeboxes than those of standard configurations. That too affects the kahles 328/540
