4DOF inclined fire error

Hold on let me write that down.. *simple algorithmic.... error*... *6DoF not necessary* got it. Okay thanks for you help with this issue I'll pass it along to the ballisticians and app developers.
No sarcasm needed. Do a simple comparison with most 3-DOF models, and you’ll spot the error. Want to play with 6-DOF? Be my guest. Trying to hide the sun with your hand? That’s a common attitude, while the simplest path is plain and simple QA. Angle solutions are not a mystery; the equations are well known—just look at the vector equations. As I said before, that error (and it’s a big one) has been there from day one. So go ahead and keep drawing wind diagrams instead of checking the algorithm, and unfortunately you won’t fix a thing.

6DoF doesn't have an optic in it, just pure X,Y,Z outputs so we're trying to see where divergence comes from and I'm thinking it's likely the sighting reference that's built into the 4DoF app. This will likely take some back-and-forth with the App guys.

Really? You guys clearly have no clue about running 6DOF without a sight ref vs a referenced one. Again, keep things simple and take a look where is matters. I’ve always held Hornady in high regard, but when it comes to ballistics, the only one with a true academic background is Dave—and unfortunately he’s already retired. Jayden doesn’t have formal training in physics or mathematics, although he’s a great asset and very knowledgeable.

Which counties outside North America have a strong PRS scene? Rim or centerfire

What he said pretty much. Live in germany and travel 1000km on a regular basis to get to shooting ranges in italy, poland, cz etc.

We can practice up to 300m in germany, thats it. Only stationary shooting most of the time. I try to do as much dry fire as i can to keep up. But shooting live rounds cant be compensated at a certain level unfortunately...
Which of the countries you regularly visit have the most/best matches?

Dipshit in green sure has nice hair!
Holy shit…I think I’ve been there!

Used to run TALCE (now AMOG) teams all over that area back between 2006-2012 supporting nation building or “security assistance” and “cooperative training” operations…or whatever the hell they’re calling it these days. We did all the airfield surveys, and then ran the temporary air heads for larger training missions…usually joint/international exercises, etc. but occasionally supported actual work by other folks.

Edit: pic thread rules:

How to run $400 in connectors and antenna on a $40 radio! LoL

Optimum barrel time: great theory or bunk?

I've found that OBT helps me get into a small ball park faster. It doesn't tell me exactly what load works best, but it's a starting point to minimize the amount of time and expenditure of components to get there. I've also found it especially helpful when I get a new lot of the same powder that performs differently from my good old load, where I'll run a velocity test and then adjust the powder load accordingly to the OBT I had for the previous lot of the powder.

Kelbly's Black Bear Tactical

Older thread, but, thought i'd mention that I just got off the phone with Ian Kelbly to order a Black Bear action (long action, right bolt, right port, .532 boltface but went ahead and ordered a .473 bolt as well - planning on just shooting 30-06 Improved for now.... which has ended up my fave long range caliber .... I dont compete, i just shoot for fun, I like the extra "pop" over 308, but still having better barrel life than the magnum calibers.... and i've got almost 600 pieces of brand new lapua brass in 06, and a manson chambering reamer, and 06 improved dies, etc etc)

Ive had a lot of guns over the years, some decently nice ones, some with a fair amount of work done to them, but I decided to go full custom this time. This thread, and threads like it, are part of why i went that way. I appreciate companies getting online and talking about stuff too.

Have a couple barrel blanks here that i'll need to get threaded / chambered (both med/heavy palma contours, finish to 30"), need to shop around for those services soon. One krieger 5R, one Bartlein 400BB 5R

Anyways, its too bad the black bear actions weren't more popular, i love the sound of them. A flat bottom / stiff action sounds good to me (main target rifles before this a sleeved rem 700 and a post 64 model 70, and a TRG42).

For stock, i may just build up something in wood. I need about a 12.5" LOP, and i like a fully adjustable stock (cheekpiece, 3 way ass, etc). Will see. Not sure if I want to go chassis right now. fave rifle is sleeved 700 in a converted Anschutz stock, single shot, 5018 trigger, short stock thats fully adjustable. Thats my "happy place" for stocks. (I might want to take that stock and convert it to this action, but..... if I do, i'll never restock the old one, so.... right now trying to think of, find, something similar. Short LOP, small pistol grip area / short reach to trigger.... that all makes me happy)

i love the sound of these. A flat bottom / stiff action sounds good to me (main target rifles before this a sleeved rem 700 and a post 64 model 70, and a TRG42, with a number of others left unmentioned...). Esp getting into calibers with more recoil / torque than a .308, and running 30" barrels

So, too bad these actions weren't more popular, but am definitely excited to get mine :)

Barrel Torque Ludicrocity

The print we have says 0.825 +/-1, where is the 822 number published? The 825 number has been standard since 2018 timeframe with the Nucleus launch and several shops, myself included, argued with Ted to make the 825 number standard and keep it for the Coups. We've never run into an issue with the Coup on headspace using 825.

Or does someone else have an old print or an incorrect reference entirely? Instead, using 825 all the numbers match up there.

I did see some early Nukes that were 822/823 range and that caused some very early, very rare issues being that we were cutting the barrels at the time to 823+/- 5 tenths since the number ARC gave me was 825 +/-1, however I haven't seen anything like that since 2018 Gen 1 Nukes.

I googled "ARC tennon Specs" and the first relative link that popped up showed the below image. If you go to their website, Support page links to the same CDG pdf with 0.822. One link below is their other actions which says "not for CDG" and indicates a 0.825".

Rifle Scopes Athlon OpticsAres BTR GEN3 HD 2.5-15x50 vs VIPER® PST™ GEN II 3-15X44 FFP

I have the 1st gen of this scope , my only negative is its a 1st focal plane scope ,which is fine for punching paper but on low power the cross hair is so thin it's hard to pick up , for a hunting scope that kinda sucks for me , great glass though and I like that there's a off position between each illumination brightness click , IIRC the complaints on the gen one was the turrents were kinda mushy , I haven't noticed that on mine .
I had a G1 and the G3 blows it away and in almost everything. I have $4000 scopes and the turrets in my G3 are at least as good as they are and as far as distinctness even better. The IQ is great for the price but not up to those expensive scopes. The .06 Mil reticle thickness can actually bee seen on lower mag compared to the older one. Like 4x in the G3 compared to 5.5x on the G1 it's looking around the same but a wider FOV on the G3 4x.

This is one of those scopes that I wish I had need for more of them but alas I don't. If it had daylight bright illume I'd flat out sell a portion of my scopes to replace them with it. 2.5x and 15x are sweet spots for low and high in a FFP scope. Can do just about anything here.
