No wonder he was the "Fighter Pilot of Choice" in Ken Burns Vietnam series. Which was an utter travesty of a documentary. Though not surprising, since it was largely done by Burns Commie Assistant Lynn Novak. Anything she touches is leftist trash propaganda. He was the perfect Vietnam 'poster boy' to criticize the Air Force and their tactics/strategies (not that either were especially aimed at war winning.)

McPeak did have a hell of a flying career, though. Thunderbirds. Flew a lot of missions with Misty, which was a specialty interdiction unit. And one of the architects of the air war in 1991 in the Gulf. He did learn his lessons in VN and applied it with ruthless precision to the Air Campaign. To the point that Powell had to rein him in after the Road to Basra. He also was architect of the US Response had Saddam used chemical weapons or WMD... which would have been to take out the whole series of dams on the Tigris and Euphretes and put Baghdad under 6 feet of water. No nukes... but just as effective.

But he went on to be a really political a$$hat. Though I will give him credit, he predicted very well what the invasion of Iraq in 2003 would lead to. While Powell saluted and followed the Bush/Cheney line... and executed with a (albiet reluctant "Yes Sir), McPeak (Retired at this point) called it very accurately.

He also had a reputation for doing damn little for enlisted and non-pilots. Which was why I always had more respect, as an historian, for LeMay. Who made damn sure his aircrew and their families were taken care of right down to the family dog. LeMay was a real combat and peacetime leader. Despite what the lefty press say.

Pouring a 30"×40" concrete pad on top of concrete floor?

Here's an approx 30" square pad pad poured for a steel column to support triple LVL's for a second floor.

I had to cut through the basement slab to excavate it. It's 16" deep, so about 22 -24 60# bags.

It's very similar to what you're doing.

Here's a front porch supported by a footer and poured walls and deck, sitting next to brick veneered poured walkway.
Probably another 900-1000 bags.

You can rock a safe from ground to a 2" wood box. from that to a 4" wood box, etc till you get your desired height.

I bet I see a half-dozen dumped animals per week. Irritates me to no end.

Fortunately some good people in the area have started working as fosters until we can get them fully vaccinated, and I have started working with some adoption agencies too.

It isn't just the "dumpers". There is a whole other group that refuse the $61 annual exam and vaccinations, or the $6-8/month heartworm prevention for their dogs. That takes too much away from their pack+ per day smoking habit while on government assistance... not to mention that they refuse to get anything spayed and neutered (which brings us back to dumping).

A couple years ago we were at the vet with our cat. This little guy (he's older in this pic) was a at the vets office, a month or two old at the time. They told us some asshole had left a litter of kittens in the trash can outside of the vets office. He was pretty sick but we adopted him and named him Eddie Manetti. He is 7 now and living like a king.

There is a special place in hell for people that abuse pets.

I’m not defending her, but that’s not what she said, exactly. What she said was she had Trumps orders on her desk to release the information on JFK, MLK, and Epstein. Now what she ultimately did or didn’t do is a different discussion…

As to the general joke nature of the Pit, of course, you moron. This topic however is not a joke, and you want to make it one. Why is that? Why is this laughable, or worthy of minimizing, or instilling apathy? What prompts you to work those angles? It's not funny at all. At all. In any universe full of humans that is. Semi-humans, however, may find it funny. But they are well outnumbered everywhere except a tiny patch of land not far from Iran.
