Man Executed By Firing Squad Was Conscious For Up To A Minute After Bullets Missed Target, Lawyers Say

"Mikal Deen Mahdi[a] (March 20, 1983 – April 11, 2025) was an American convicted spree killer who was executed for the murder of a police officer in South Carolina. Over a period of three days in July 2004, Mahdi, then a resident of Virginia, went on a multistate crime spree, committing carjacking, firearm robbery, and three murders..."

Spare me the feigned outrage and hand-wringing.

Cry their eyes out for murderers and have zero pity for the victims. Just more proof that bleeding heart liberals/“Christians” are the most evil ones.

Finding a wife

I know a guy who did the complete opposite, after his separation he bought a tiny house in this mountaintop park that turned out to be over 55 so he had to lie about his age lol. He's got this huge fucking truck and a dune buggy and they let him have his dog there too even though it's over the park animal weight limit. He lives in an old people trailer park and has more freedom than when he was married.

Freedom is nice!

I was single for almost 4 years after the divorce and even though I was lonely I learned a lot about myself and went on adventures I wouldn't have done otherwise. Problem was back then I didn't have much money or I would have lived it up more.

Hadn't met that friend I mentioned before yet which would have been a good distraction.

But I definitely have a lifestyle/s I'd like to try if I was single again, that is if I still had the vitality, and I'm not talking about sexuality either. It basically comes down to reducing down to a simpler way to live alone but I'd take off here and there to do those energetic "bucket list" things too.
One thing is I'd like to live in the 5th wheel for a summer and go to gun matches all over the country and hang out with some of the personalities I've met here and other forums.

When single I remember at some point not having had a good hug in years from a women and when it happened I literally started shaking a little because it felt so good. I had no idea I was that starved for a hug, which sounds funny, lol but it's a thing.
I guess it's something I need way deep down and something my wife gives me every day.

Rem 721 time to re-barrel, what caliber

A Bartlien #4 in 280 Ackley will be your best balance of a decent weighted range toy and not too heavy to hunt with. There's a decent amount of factory ammo available for it though not always match type. If you have a long action you might as well take advantage of it. My second caliber choice would be 6.5 Weatherby RPM

Went on a crazy vinyl buying spree a couple years ago. Ended up with easily 1000 LP's. Quite a few from garage sales but mostly from vinyl shops in the city. Pretty cheap, average price is around 5 bucks in great shape. Pricier ones around 12 bucks or so. Was a fun hunting around. You just cannot beat the sound of late 70's early 80's vinyl, when analog was truely at it's peak technology.
A bit late but if your collecting vinyl you need a good cleaning machine like the VPI or better yet a sonic type. I just sold off about 3K albums, down to about 500 of my favorites.

Actually, much of the earlier stuff from the late 50's early 60's is as good or better than the later stuff. See if you can find a copy of Steppenwolf Live at the Matrix. 'The Pusher' will knock your socks off.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Has the Bloom Come Off Early Pythons

True, but they're not "unturned", NIB. It's not THAT big a difference in price, but why if I have the same thing that is worn and has a ton of bluing off from years in a cop's holster but shoots the same.

If I only had a single Python I'd shoot it for sure. But when you have several it makes no sense.
All the old Winchesters I have don't get shot, just because I'm not that interested.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Has the Bloom Come Off Early Pythons

NIB collectors items are always going to fetch a premium. I did that with some of the more rare (1of 100) items from Colt's custom shop when Colt was still an American-owned company.

Commemorate guns are almost always a poor investment. Not always though.

Most of my other "collectable handguns" (collectable to me only probably) are items that are "as new", but have seen a few rounds. I really take pleasure in shooting a few magazines/cylinders through them each year, and they don't plummet in value 25% or more if you fire them. Most still actually increase in value a little...at least enough usually to keep up with inflation.

WHY????? Mag feed vs. Hand feed

Thumper580, what powder(s) are you using in your loads?

The reason I ask, is that in the past, I've used temp sensitive powders before min an AR load...

And by the time I got to the 3rd and 4th shots, the chamber had gotten so hot from the previous rounds, the temp powder in the brass/round was increasing, and the velocities climbed dramatically....greatly effecting the grouping of any shots after 1 and 2...

This impact is not as great in a bolt gun, even with a round like a 300 RUM or 338 Edge using large amounts of N570.

Because all of the gas is going forward, and not heating up the chamber like an AR does. When the round is extracted while the powder/gas is pushing the bullet out of the barrel, and some of the hot gas is coming back into the chamber.

Thanks

Change powder. N540 is a double based and more temp sensitive and less consistent than N140.
Especially if you have a long barrel might as well use varget and N140.
I keep my N540 for my hunting 223 because it yields a bit more speed but it’s not temp stable and you can see the velocity rising if you do long shooting strings on hot days.

I think cruel and unusual is one of the issues. Something may be cheap efficient and painless but it's not historically used it could be argued it's cruel and unusual. Unlike hanging, firing squad or electric chair which all sound cruel but are historically not unusual. Hence why they are still used when much more painless and quick methods exist.
Prexactly.
