My parents have had Arabian Horses for over 40 years, including show horses in the Halter Class, etc. I'll never forget standing in the shop and Dad telling me I'll go broke buying dirtbikes and UTVs for me and my kids, lol.

Moab a little over a decade ago.

.308 Winchester

Time to get serious...buddy of mine ordered these to see what his Begara and my CZ will do at distance.View attachment 8703966

Using Varget powder, CCI primers and M118 LC brass. (Annealed before sizing)

I hate that I can't always get pictures to show up like i want!! anyway... the A-tips I have no interest in, but he sure does... I still care about terminal effect and they basically have that of... a I duno .22LR? At least in gel they seem to just ice pick, not even flip or anything. So I'm more interested in the SMK 169's and Berger Juggernauts.
I think you'll really like both the 169 SMK and the Juggernauts. They've both worked really well for me!

The tips are revealing… 169 SMK look almost like a closed point, where as the 168SMK looks like, well crap often uneven. 175SMK looks more pointed than the 168’s and a little more uniform but still not that uniform.

Berger 185gr juggernauts aren’t the most pointy but very uniform looking open tip.

A-tips, well what can you say? Machined points squared off at the very end, top tier packaging.. ought to fit the cost of them!
I've got A-Tips for my 6.5 PRC and they do very well, but the ARE really just "target" projectiles. ;)

Yes, the 169 SMK's have been pointed by the factory (no need to do your own pointing with them :D), that's why the point is so closed compared to the other SMK's. And yeah, they more uniform than the other too. :giggle: That's why they tend to perform so much better than those others.

One sure way to make a small fortune in the horse business…..Start out with a large fortune.

Learned that one the hard way. Still had to mow pastures, (which I liked anyway, a good way to get away from it all, me, my John Deere, a cooler full of cold drinks and a pleasant afternoon) clean stalls, work horses, give horses baths, clean stalls, feed morning and night, clean stalls, Saturday morning, spent cleaning every bit of bedding out of the stalls and replace. Finding places where I can buy or obtain free bedding, Buying and storing hay, finding someone to take bad hay off our hands, because it was not cured properly, clean stalls (did I mention cleaning stalls already?)

but there was this one Saturday night in Mississippi….Our little Fashion’s Flirt was in the arena with the big dogs, including one trained by the current world champion trainer. The last horse to leave the ring, was our little Fashion’s Flirt, with Brenda aboard. The crowd closed in on her, everyone seeming to want to get a closer look, at that grand little mare. Me screaming to Brenda, we had to get her to inspection. It was a scene from Hollywood. All trainers get that one good horse, Fashion’s Flirt was ours.

Seen two years earlier, leaving the ring last, blue ribbon in hand as a two year old, only her second show under saddle, showing the aged horses how its done.

Did I mention cleaning stalls? Oh, I forgot, staying up all night walking a colicky horse.

In case anyone is wondering, the last horse to leave the ring is the winner. That horse is given the honor of doing a victory lap. All the other horse are excused so the winner can be honored.
All I ever wanted was a motorcycle/dirt bike. I kept asking my dad for one. One time I asked "when can I get a motorcycle?" his response: "When you win a horse show." I only ever placed 2nd. I finally did get a dirt bike. For Christmas when I was 12/6th grade. Walking out to the tree Christmas morning and seeing that yellow Yamaha was one of the best days of my life. I do recall telling my step mom later on that wishing for it and day dreaming about getting one was almost better than having one. She still brings that up to me.

We had Arabians as well. My step mom had the National Champ English Saddle ½ Arab way back in the late 60s. Brandy (gelding) was one hell of a horse. He loved going to shows. Load himself right into the trailer.

Accessories Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M -- $4995 --

If you are a watch collector; I have a second Omega for sale as well. It runs well but she is a project and needs an overhaul. Omega quoted me $1500 for that 2 years or so ago, I just never got to it. The service should renew anything and everything and make it as new. It is the Seamaster GMT 50 year. I can add that to the Planet Ocean deal for an extra $900 making it $6150 for the both or sell it separate for $1200.

More detailed:

Function wise she needs a service. Last time I had her on my wrist was 3 years ago and she ran well at that time however, she has been in the safe since.

Cosmetic wise she could benefit from new hands and face for renewed illumination and a polishing of the case as well. Also the bracelet needs some work done on the latch (sloppy), new pins and a polish. The crown was replaced a few years back by a 3rd party service center but I would have that probable replaced again if she goes to Omega anyways. This watch has been worn and shows it. It’s not terrible by any means but it’s not in showroom condition either. Having said that, the Sapphire is (as usual with these watches) without any damage.

However, If you dont care about the slightly deteriorated illumination and plan to give her a different band (NATO strap or anything for that matter), then I would say she just needs a service. It’s been a long time and she is certainly due for one.
