Ok, it's been a good week. As I mentioned earlier today, all the springs are set to start running, just waiting on me to finish organizing a few things (part numbers, pricing, etc.) in the bookkeeping software and I'll punch out some POs. Delivery for springs (to me) is two to six weeks ARO.

I made a bit of an investment and all the small parts (see list below) are now set to run again after I do what I mentioned above. The only small parts needing a production solution are the extractors and plungers, but no big deal. They're not highly called upon as spares unless one fiddles around and shoots one into the heater duct. I also need to see if the side bolt release for the later Three60's had a rev push, but I'll validate that by early next week.

Small Parts:
  • Firing Pins (repeater and single shot, 22LR only for now)
  • Cocking Pieces (early Gen 1 that used the Rem700 CP still needs a solution)
  • Rails (open source dowels and screws OTS)
  • Side Bolt Release (all Gens)
  • Ejector (all Gens)
  • Extractors (working on production solution)
  • Extractor Plunger (working on production solution)
  • Threaded Pins (all Gens)
  • Bolt Knobs
  • Action Wrenches (all Gens, completing plans)
There are a couple other solid pins (Gen 1 bolt nose retention) that I'll open source.

As I've worked through this, I've noted that it's better across the board to offer a complete parts kit. To manage individual parts on a per Gen basis is cumbersome and confusing. And, it's not like these parts get replaced a lot.

Lastly, two of the four actions are pretty well through the design phase, one of which is basically ready for some industrial engineering. I've been thinking I may do a V-22 replacement, but, I don't see that approach as relevant any longer. From the perspective of history, it's pretty awesome to see where we came from, but, based on the pretty incredible outreach I've received, the community is moving on. There's still a lot to do on these, but that's why I'm doing V-22 parts first. Keep them running (parts will always be available) and then step up if you so choose.

Onward and upward, Fellas....

Rifle Scopes Zeiss S5 vs the Zero Comp optics quality

I owned a ZCO several years back and just didn’t love it for whatever reason. It did have a yellowish tint to it but optically was very good. Wasn’t a fan of the reticle or turrets even though both were perfectly useable.

Currently I own one of the S5 and optically it is a bit better to my eye. I like the reticle and turrets more than the ZCO. I’m also a fan of the MTC feature so that’s a bonus. I really like the larger amount of adjustment and 34mm tube. My only complaint with the Zeiss is the screws they used for the turrets themselves, make sure you don’t lose the wrench that comes with the scope!

9x18 Makarov back of the neck. primitive Russian efficiency.
yes,if he got death here,he def deserved it. who gives 2 shits about his suffering?
capital punishment should be cruel and unusual. maybe match it to the crime.
way too many delays because of bogus lib bed wetter "feelings"
lethal inj can be Fed up too. did that in FL. the pansies wailed about that.
think FL used incompetent IV starters and SoCar used incompetent shooters.
lethal inj is so easy, cheap and fast. doesn't provide enough retribution, however
i always felt that victims survivors should decide punishment. administer if they wished. but, forgiveness not allowed.
capital punishment is way too rare and reserved for way too few offenses.
long delays and long prison sentences for crimes that should be capital cost innocent society huge $.
what do you bet FL spent keeping Ted Bundy alive in prison for 10 years? not to mention all the bullshit lawyer $s.

BC Correction

A post with more information on the Oehler 88 at 2 miles would generate a lot of interest. Details on the downrange target and some sample data would really be appreciated.

In one of the papers on the website, Oehler wrote that under 1K yards, it doesn't really matter if you use G1 or G7 as the BC model. I was surprised by that, so I checked it by comparing range cards generated with each model. With the advent of CDMs, I added those to the mix as well. This is what it looks like for the OPs ballistics.

I started with the values in AB Analytics. Then I trued the G1 value to give the same drop as the G7 at the OPs last target. Looks like Oehler had a point. G7, CDM, trued G1 are on top of each other out to the last target. I also fit a straight line. There are at least of a couple versions of this out there. It's basically a mnemonic trick to avoid memorizing ballistic tables. You have to multiply and add in public and under stress, but it can work pretty well out to 6-800 yards with suitable cartridges.

Zooming in on just the errors, these are the differences at each range between the methods in the legend and a G7 range card.

It's not that G1, G7, CDM, or 4Dof don't give different results, it's that 1300 yards isn't enough range that they become significant. This graph also has a curve where the G1 was trued at 4K yards which is the last value in my template. This is intended to demonstrate that no, G1 and G7 are not the same.
I'll have to go in search of data from the 2 mile testing as it was a while back. We did it two times, once in the '88 days and once in the '89 days (The '89 is what the '88 should have been).

The data agreed with onsite radar, once in a simuletaneous test and once in a follow up test, at least to the point the radar tracked the bullet.

We used an impact target. Something as simple as a piece of plywood (or 3 pieces screwed together) as a stop signal.

The '89 is very simple. It records TOF based on a start signal (mic at the muzzle) and a stop signal (mics downrange that you shoot past if supersonic or attach to an impact target - plywood, sheetrock, steel, etc.). Communication between the muzzle and target is handled over the radio.

It was originally designed to use skyscreens to record velocity very near the muzzle. It was later modified to use 1 microphone at the muzzle and allow the user to input MV from an outside source. I recommend ordering it without the skyscreens and using a Garmin for your MV readings.

I'm right there with you on this. I shoot long gun right hand with my right eye and a handgun left handed with my left eye. I shoot with both eyes open and an right eye dominant. I don't know why but I have been doing it that way for as long as I can remember.

Transitions from long gun to handgun are smooth this way though...
I'm trying to decide if you're more messed up than I am....like, did we get dropped on our heads or something?

We handle this wrong . We should use people sentenced to death as crash test dummies . We would garner real time real world data from ;
Auto accidents
Acme Anvils
Acme Rockets
High speed motorized wheel chair
Drop tests
Wood chipper efficiency
Shark attacks
Snake bites
Bear attacks
Hippo attacks
Gator attacks
The affects of a ball peen hammer on a human skull as delivered by a palsic epileptic with turrets.

You're not clever. Accusing other Christians of being apostates for basic biblical truths and basic theology does not come from God. Mixing apostacy with truth is a trick you did not learn from Jesus. You need to read, and go to a bible study led by someone mature in their faith before you try to correct other people with your own made-up theology and drive people away from Christ. You are not doing the Lord's work AT ALL. You're right. The discussion is over because you're immature, ignorant, and a lost cause. Worse, you are boring. There is no point anymore.
