I shoot with a couple long range service rifle shooters (think 20” 308win pushing 185s 2600fps) ) that swear by them. I assume you tube them in the small frames?

And this one was hit in the belly; flipped him in the air, and he made a bee-line to his hole with his guts hanging out of him - a not uncommon occurrence. They're tough as hell.

To kill them RTD (at distances up to and occasionally beyond 1000 yards) you need a flat shooting cartridge that has >= 1200 ft-lbs or more energy on impact.

My left calf is still pretty good, but my left thigh is almost 2” diameter smaller than my right because my left knee’s completely fucked. Every annual med checkup the VA suggests a total knee replacement, and every year I tell ‘em to pound sand, I’ll just keep on with the knee injections every 3-6 months.

May have to get it done soon though; almost to the point where I can’t walk, and I ain’t gettin’ any younger. Takes a lot longer to heal/recuperate these days.

I wouldn't use a 7prc for elk, let alone varmints, but everyone is on their own journey.

They ship it with this ring that fits between the sun shade and the scope that does excellent at cutting mirage. I did a tall target test and it was spot on 6 mils up and back down. It fell out of the rack into a cement floor, gave a pretty nasty mark, knocked it of zero. The ring to which you refer is called a Modifier Disk (MD). What is does is reduce the size of the aperture (objective) by 50% and thus increases the depth of field viewed through the riflescope. The objective lens diameter is 52MM, and it makes for a handy riflescope. I have one on an AR-10, a rifle which is heavy enough as it is without plunking a heavy riflescope on it.

How do you like the LDK reticle?

I find the clicks on the shuriken turrets to be very positive and extremely accurate. I have the same turrets on my Majesta sitting on top of my match rifle and I really like them. However, I would like to know what you do not like about them.

I have not banged up my scopes like you have, yet, so I'm glad to hear about your torture test experiment. Those 4mm thick tubes can really take some punishment.

I do not know exactly how it work on that side of the pond, but here it is not all that uncommon for the specific units to have a couple of options of different optics. They go with what they prefer.

Steiner has been very active in Europe with their M7Xi scopes, so I see them issued a fair bit. It seems that they have gotten some design wins that would nearly automatically go to Hensoldt or S&B in the past. I thought that Kahles' K328i was going after some of the same contracts, so it will be interesting to see if anything is reshuffled in the next couple of years.
