Mexican and BBQ recommendations for the San Antonio, TX area

For BBQ, go to Lockhart and enjoy. There's Black's, Terry Black's, Smittys, Kreuz, Chisholm Trail and Rileys. Riley is the cheapest, Black's and Terry Black's is the most expensive and Terry Black's is prob the best. For Mexican food, Mi Tierra downtown SA is the best. I live in Lockhart and have eaten at all the BBQ places and we always go to Mi Tierra when we go to SA. There hundreds of great BBQ places all over this part of Texas. Good luck to ya.

223 Ackley Improved

What is your goal for the .223ai? Or should I say what should I be shooting for (see what I did there 🤪) I am starting over with my load development. (for multiple reasons, but mainly I think I started too early on a new barrel.) I want to shoot KYL style at distances of 500-1200yds. sizes range from IPSC to sub-moa at each yard line. Should I just be chasing the fastest speed I can get without pressure signs? Any input would be helpful.

Components:
Lapua cases
75g Eldm
Varget

Thanks,

Obviously there are constraints inherent to the calibre and the components listed bring another set of constraints. All barrels will have different tastes.

In my experience playing with the exact same projectiles and powder (I was using ADI brass) getting the speed wasn’t hard, 26.1gn of varget got me to around 3100fps out of a 26” 1:7 tw barrel. Performance down range though wasn’t great with group sizes opening up a bit past 300m (100m group was about .85-.9MoA). Much better to find a speed that it likes (consistent grouping, minimal SD in V0) and develop a separate load with a heavier projectile to reach out further.

I found a decent load at 2960 with those same projectiles.
