6 ARC Upper Build: 18” PVA Osprey (Rifle +2”) + San Tan Tactical Billet Upper + SOLGW M89 Rail

Thanks Tony. No worries, take your time catching up. I love your idea for using the suppressor but unfortunately I live in California so that’s not really an option.

TLDR version is it’s an 18 inch 6 arc barrel with rifle +2 gas system (.093” port) so it has pretty short amount of dwelltime already. I’ve tried shooting with different mags different, different bcg’s, checked gas tube/gasy key for obstructions, tried set screw & clamp on gas blocks, different uppers, different lube, etc. and never resolved failure to feed or failure to lock back and at best (factory ammo with clamp on block) have gotten intermittent ejection.

If any ideas pop into your head once you’ve had time to absorb the thread feel free to share them!

I already have a 2.5 mm bit on hand that I can use to drill out the port to around .098 inches but I’m holding off until I hear back from Josh at PVA to see if he and team may have some other things to check for or ask me to send the barrel in etc..
Man, I'm very hesitant to advise anyone to do a permanent modification just based on what's posted in a forum. I've had more than one occasion where someone brought me a rifle and I had one thing in my head based on what I was told, only to find that it was something completely different once I got my eyes on it.

Still, +2 rlgs on an 18" barrel is gonna make for a very finicky rig. What I'd do if I were you is send it back, tell them what ammo you want to run and let them make it right.

Assuming that all that has been discussed here is accurate and nothing has been missed, what I would do if this was my rig is blow out the gas hole 3/1000 and see what that gets me. Mind you, I was once asked how I come up with such cool builds and a friend of mine commented that I'm not afraid to f@$k sh!t up.

I have a couple of rigs that are intended to run when subjected to abuse. On those I purposely over gassed them and reined in the gas with a riflespeed gas block. I dont think you're going to ruin anything just going 3/1000 over what you have.

New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Mulling over switching my current 20" barreled 6.5 grendel AR-15 to 6mm ARC. From what I gather the brass can be sized down to 6mm ARC? Looking to do a 18-20" barrel threaded for a brake and prefer heavy profile but fluted. Is it worth switching as I currently reload and have all the dies and brass for 6.5 grendel. What barrels are available for the $500-$700? I'll want to buy a matched barrel and bolt. Thanks
Check out Patriot Valley Arms AR barrels. 6 ARC , they will flute it for you and you can get a matched bolt. Not sure about the "HEAVY" profile though.

Is it worth switching for what reason?

Savage 110 Action Replacement

Does your Savage bolt have the stupidly long "tactical" knob/handle? Savage actions are far from "tight" when you run the bolt, and I've had issues with binding due to funny leverage that long bolt handle creates. I switched mine to a round knob from gunshack and it helped a lot.....still loose, but no more binding. Pretty cheap to try.

Also....agree with Mike on keeping this rifle as-is and starting a new build.
I actually swap all of my round knobs for the tactical ones.

Still contemplating a savage 10fp in 308.

I've been on this forum for quite a while.
I remember when folks bragged about buying their new savages and rem 700 sps tactical rifles.
When the SPS tactical first came out and Mark Gordon was just getting SAC off the ground, he offered an accurizing package, retaining the factory barrel.
There were many, many happy .308 owners in those days, until they learned that aparrently, you can't hit any targets with a .308 and any action that isn't a custom is a waste of time and money.
Those were the days.
Ah the good ole days. The Nato potato was popular cause da army uses it, kinda and da 260 gots no good factory ammo or rifles. When the men was men and the sheep were scared. 🤣🤣🤣

Lucky bastard!

New Applied Ballistics® Quantum™ APP! - & It's Free!

AB has been money damn well spent, for me. Yesterday, I finished a load for my 6.5 prc hunting rifle. With 3 tags in hand for the second fastest land animal in the world and hunting on open ground that can be very hard to get close to them, I was feeling the pressure to wrap it up.

With high confidence in AB from 10 years of use, I made a nice custom waterproof turret label complete with warm 70° day and a 32°f day delta for 7200’ elevation. White with large letters makes it easy to read with my one aging eyeball.

I went to the range, confirmed cold bore zero, then proceeded to make 1st round hits out to 800 yards on 9”x9” steel in 11 mph winds using my turret and the AB Kestrel for wind.

I could not be happier.

For the record I had “Elite” level because they grandfathered me in as an original AB app owner. Last month I upgraded my 5700x Kestrel to Wez and now I get “Pro” level in perpetuity included. I believe the Kestrel has to be hooked up to the app every 30 days or so to keep that act active.

Besides the obvious..once your spine “grows” crooked it stays that way unless there’s surgery.

Scoliosis ends approx 24 months after girls first period..that’s when the usually stop growing. Boys can grow until approx 21 on some cases.

Beating it with a hammer lol..will do nothing but break a vertebrae and make things worse

Vortex Razor LHT

Of the scope failures and scopes I have sent back for warrenty which is quite a few. I can only think of one that didn't hold zero. And it would shoot two tight groups about 2 moa apart.

I haven't seen the drop tests. As per the usual I am skeptical.of anything on the internet as well the tests and the competence of the people running g the tests.

From what I have come to beleive from reading online. Most people who claim. To shoot "long range," don't.
