Accuracy International Picture Thread

Just wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to Sporting Services UK.

Late last year I picked up the 1.6mm SFP 308 and 300WM bolt bodies and put a 338L SFP bolt body on backorder for my AXMC figuring it would be easy to just get a 1.6mm firing pin and swap it onto my current bolt shroud and save a couple hundred bucks compared to buying a complete 308 SFP bolt assembly with firing pin and shroud.

Called Mile High and Euro Optic to buy a bare 1.6mm AXMC firing pin and was told by both that AINA did not have a part number for the bare 1.6mm firing pin and I would have to buy a complete 308 SFP bolt assembly or a 1.6mm SFP bolt shroud assembly to get the 1.6mm firing pin. I even asked Mile High how they would replace a damaged 1.6mm AXMC firing pin if it was a warranty issue and they said they would have to source a complete firing pin and shroud assembly from AINA. Not what I wanted to hear having already purchased the bare 308 and 300WM SFP bolt bodies with the 338L SFP bolt body on backorder.

I got in contact with Graeme at Sporting Services at the end of December, who in turn contacted AI UK, who then confirmed that there was no part number to sell just the 1.6mm AXMC SFP by itself. However, Graeme went the extra mile and managed to get AI UK to create a new part number in their system to sell just the bare 1.6mm AXMC firing pin by itself. It took until today for them to get here (5 months isn't a bad wait for special order AI parts direct from the UK honestly, lol) but not only did Sporting Services save me some money I now have a couple of spare 1.6mm AXMC firing pins in my parts stash.

Do you have a Self Defense legal team membership?

One of the best, informative reads is Massad Ayoob's The Gravest Extreme.

He gives sobering insight for those who want to be a badass or hero with a gun.

After reading and understanding it, an intelligent person will no longer look at a gun as a way to enlarge his testicles.

Even a justified shoot will cost the good guy a fortune; his reputation in the business world and possibly his marriage. A woman that wouldn't stick with her husband through the ordeal is a sorry pos but there are many that wouldn't and when she takes the kids she's getting the house.
sad but true. the only choice in this deranged society is be tried by 12 or carried by 6. Rittenhouse got lucky. legal help was (to him) pro bono. he,nor most of us,could not have afforded it. if the shootees had been baboons, nothing would have saved him.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Has the Bloom Come Off Early Pythons

NIB old stock will always have value, as will Gen 1 SAAs. They're just made better than anything out today. They will always be collected and coveted even if only because they are hand made, like a $25K original Hawken Rifle. Almost no utility at all, and of the few people I know who have them (or a few of them) they would never even consider shooting them.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Has the Bloom Come Off Early Pythons

I recently pulled the trigger double action on a real tuned up S&W....smoothest thing I've ever felt. Just incredible. I have a few revolvers and now I'm looking at tuning them up. Maybe find an old S&W in 44 Mag and have my friend tune it up.

A worked over S&W is sure a pleasure to shoot. I had a side hustle for several years working on them. I learned the hard way - bought a couple of falsely advertised junkers on GB. By the time I sourced the correct parts and got them to fit right, I had learned a ton.

It isn't hard to do man, just takes time. Probably some decent videos on YouTube where you can kind of teach yourself. Go slow, stay away from power tools, and enjoy it.

I think I have 27 or 28 older S&W revolvers in the safes now. Wish I had as many old Colts.

Good ole Rhinos obstructing HPA again

Perhaps we need to also start mass calling the NRA and telling them if they don't stop blocking pro gun legislation, specifically the HPA, then we will actively work to make sure people don't join them and don't pay any more dues or contributions to them.

I'll bet hitting the NRA where it hurts, right in the pocketbook would be a bit more effective than asking nicely.
am an endowment member, long time. drank the koolaide years ago. wish i could get the $ back but Wayne already spent it on a car.

Mark 4hd tracking issue

The opposite he tells us exactly that the scope is not tracking.

How much the reticle moves has zero to do with velocity. He adjusts the turret 5 mils and instead of going 5 mils it’s going more

3.6”=1mil@100yards and 3.6x5=18”

19”/3.6=5.278

37-37.5/3.6”=10.27-10.42

And if those all stay the same: at 100yards, how much should the scopes adjustment either scale or jump from what has been dialed?
No he states that the point of impact is different than expected, not that the scope reticle moved to a different place. But who cares he still does not know what a tracking test is.

A tale of three Larue's (Large frame review Part 1 - OBR)

Great thread , impressive accuracy. I always lol that threads like this don’t go past the first page

The only change I've made to the OBR is the AGB, the Seekins just hasn't held up well requiring several rebuilds.

I swapped over to the Rifle Speed AGB and have been quite impressed with it's long term performance.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Has the Bloom Come Off Early Pythons

As a collector of old wheelguns, I definitely think that the market segment that enjoys them the most (old dudes) are dying off.

The next generations of shooters are much less into them. Most of the guns too aren't rare or expensive enough to be true investment items...those are still going to rise (like the limited original Pythons in short barrels etc...).

*Edited to add an old photo of my Python. I put some Culina's on it, but kept the original grips for collector value.

Rocks

Back before it wasn’t cool, I was in the scouts. The scout master told a parable about a hiker that picked up rocks along the trail. Before long, the hiker’s pack was so full of rocks that he couldn’t carry on. Only by unburdening himself of the useless load could he continue on his path.

Of course, this parable isn’t really about rocks. And while I was never much of a rock collector, I never the less hear this story when I see a pretty rock…
