I recently saw a 6–36 class review by area 419 and to my surprise, they did not have a Schmidt and bender scope in that lineup they were reviewing.

My very first thought was: you’re actually not gonna include one of the best scopes on the market in your review? Seriously??

However, I wonder if that was a purposeful slight because Schmidt hasn’t been as innovative as some of the other folks?

I do wonder how things will change during the summer when the patent expires that’s been preventing larger field of view in US sold scopes. However, if tariffs are involved, I think a lot of Europeans are gonna have a hard time selling their products. I honestly don’t know who sells a completely US-made scope or if that even exists at this point.

Not much of a review, but I returned mine. Just couldn’t get past the limited FOV, or rather the thick black nothingness around the image where it was constricted. Staw-like viewing experience. Also the eye box was a bit tight. Felt like a downgrade in overall performance from what I was used to. Patiently waiting for them to release the Euro version because I really loved everything else about it.

indeed. gotta say i see why in some ways. played in a few bridge tourneys there and in Sarasota. has been about 5-6 years though. you have never seen as many really good looking women > 60 yo. if you are 50 or less no appeal but if > 60 different story. those all were dressed and jeweled high end and obviously had serious resources from some place. likely some time in an OR as well.
but the villages has had the VD prize in US on several occasions.

The Villages is a place I’ve very much avoided. It is the hilarious modern version of sodom and gamora. VD capital here in these parts.

Eh, you can be intentionally obtuse if you like.

That said, a 22lr trainer rifle does little for centerfire rifle shooting. You can be even lazier with a 22lr rifle than you can be with a 22 pistol. Spotting impacts? My 22 rimfire recoils so little that I need to move the reticle out of the way to see impacts on paper. And it’s a semi auto so I don’t need to break position to run the bolt. And, it’s precise enough to win 22lr comps. It’s great for what it is, but it’s not a trainer.

Oh, well you can get better at reading the wind. Well, you can do that with a wind meter while walking the dog too.

I’ve read that more and more people are dropping the rimfire trainer idea, realizing their time and money is better spent shooting their main squeeze.
