IPRF 22rf World Championship - Starting Tomorrow

There's been very little advertising or media about the event it would seem, but the 2025 IPRF competition starts tomorrow, held in the UK.

There's meant to be a lot of media coming over for it bit so far all I've seen is stuff on Facebook from the GBPRA, IPRF and individuals. Probably some stuff on Instagram too I'd imagine.

The match is live on Practiscore so you'll be able to check the live results.
The shooting runs from Wednesday-Saturday, but registration and pre-shoot things started today (Monday).

6.5 Creedmoor

I’ve been shooting the 6.5 creed for the last 12 years. My go to was always 41.8 H4350 with a 140 ELD and 15 thou jump. Always gave me 2800 fps with a 24-26” Krieger. Always a solid recipe, like old reliable. Recently I tried RL-16 with a 130 hybrid. 🤯42.2 with a .020 jump. 2900 fps. SD’s in the 3’s and bugholes like I’ve never seen before. Has easily been the most accurate and consistent load I’ve tried over the years. Wish found it sooner.
Those Berger 130 Hybrids with RL16 and/or H4350 are a hidden gem. Like you, I'm getting about 2,900 FPS and tiny groups. I shot a .63" 5 shot group at 305 yards yesterday using this load through my AI AT-X last night. I'm pretty sure that's the smallest 5 round group I've ever shot at 300, most of them are around 1" with this same load. I'm really really impressed. I used to only use these Berger 130's in my ar-10, now I'm using them in every 6.5 Creedmoor

Lapua 136 Scenars with VV N555 are also awesome. I get similar accuracy, 2,850 FPS and stupid low SD's with this load.

I really think the sweet spot with 6.5 Creedmoor is 130 - 136 grain bullets. Pushing these safely at 2,850 - 2,900+ more than offsets the heavy for caliber higher BC 6.5 bullets

T1x ACE in Hand - Review - Pictures - Info - Thoughts

I went out and bought some Tikka weights today, the store didn't have many but I bought all they had, added about 1.1kg to the rifle and now it's a pretty nice weight and balances well (with bipod and suppressor).

Tikka have introduced an external weight now which you can pair with the internal weights. The external ones don't hang down and obstruct the ARCA rail, and they replace the little side panels that come with the internal weights.
They are kind of a stupid shape as they overlap each other and don't really make the best use of the forend real estate.

2 pairs of internal weights combine with one pair of external weights.

I put off buying weights for this rifle as I bought it for factory class in the IPRF22 competition. I've now learned that I am actually allowed to run a factory rifle with added weights if they are made by the manufacturer. So I rushed out to buy as many weights as I could, as the competition starts this week.
I wanted to longer forend too, but it wasn't available.

The internal weights are hellishly expensive, but the externals aren't badly priced.
They were easy enough to fit but the forend end cap now doesn't fit, so a bit of an oversight from Tikka.

CHINA WAR INEVITABLE...SOONER THAN LATER

Chynah needs us. We need them. Too late to put that Genie back in the bottle. The only possible way any form of war erupts between us is if Chynah/Xi become so destabilized and Xi so desperate to maintain his grip on power that he instigates a moderate conflagration to maintain his clutch on power. Could certainly happen, but MAD and absolute economic ruin of Chynah are virtually insurmountable barriers to a legit, all-out “Hot War” with them slopes.

Optics WTS ZCO 527 MPCT1X

I have for sale a slightly used Zero Compromise Optic for sale. It is overall in great shape but has some slight anodize fading from the rings and a tiny mark on the elevation turret. I have probably fired less than 200 rounds of 6 dasher through it and it's an awesome scope but mainly use Tangents for matches and don't really have plans to use this.

It has the 10 mil NLE turret and the locking windage. Awesome scope and the glass is flawless.

Comes with the ranger wrap that was installed before mounting so under the wrap it is just like it came from the factory.

Has an option to come with a Hawkins scope mount in anodized green and 1.25" height. Or can come with a MPA 1.25" height, 0moa, 36mm mount.

-Scope price with no mount $3750
-With Hawkins mount $3950
-With MPA mount $3900

Looking to sell or could consider a trade for a tangent theta.

PayPal payment friends/family please.

Really curious what those accommodations are. Of course, custom ammo is a very big step to take, if that is what is necessary.
With currently available ammo, OAT and other climate considerations have to be made, and adjust accordingly, but when done effectively, nothing could run with my nine twist guns at distance. Way too many details to try to write it in a post.

The goals with the nine twist were/are large; I had some barrel makers on board and started getting deeper into the ammo makers interest when the wheels fell off at VGW.

Gunsmithing Lathe 101 - (DFW, N. TX)

I've really enjoying carving rifle stocks, but I've always wanted to learn how to run a lathe so I can thread and chamber my own barrels.

There are a couple 16+ week courses at local North Texas Colleges, but I was hoping to find something less formal. Im not looking for certifications or careers with this... its a hobby.

Does anyone know of a guild, or club type organization where experienced members are willing to teach others, and have access to the machines & equipment?

Im west of Fort Worth, but will make time to travel in the greater DFW area.

WHY????? Mag feed vs. Hand feed

This will be a movie scene someday…

Our hero realizes that his target is so small and so far away that he needs more accuracy. He turns to his teammate and says “Hold my magazine, Johnny, I got to single load for this one.”

Is this before or after he sands some skin off his trigger finger?

10 second showdown

He modified the course. Any miss adds a second but no concealed draw. Premium on accuracy.

So if you get a miss you almost certainly will not make the par time.

https://www.concealedcarry.com/training-2/can-you-shoot-like-the-original-federal-air-marshal/

I blew stage 5 by .1
Stage 6 by .12
Stage 7 by .3

Made 1-4.

Final course time was 32.64.
7 always kicked my ass because of the kneeling. Bad knees. Was my hardest string every time.

Why do people load so hot?

If you think it's bad here, go check out long range hunting forum. They load .300NMs with heavies to .22-250 50 grain load speeds.
There's a guy over there shooting a standard 300 PRC with a 26" tube faster than I shoot my 30 Sherman mag with a 32" barrel. same projectile. and I consider my load at/ near max

What’s your favorite scope mount?

I’ve heard great things about 419 and shot the Guardian with some of their crew—super nice people and good shooters.
I have their hunt rings on my nrl light gun, have the regular rings and one piece mounts on precision bolt guns and just got the cantilever for an AR. Absolutely beautiful machine work and the pins are a nice touch. Used a bunch of high end mounts and rings and these are definitely my favorite
