Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

I used to race like that when I was stationed in Fort Sill, OK. We ran an 1/8 mile track. You would spend most of the day trying to "dial in" your time. Before racing started in the evening you would tell them how fast you were going to run and they would paint that on your windshield.

It did not matter what the other lane was running. He dialed in his time and they set the clock accordingly. If he was faster than you, he had to wait. The idea was you should both be at the finish line at the same time. Whoever crossed first - without "breaking out" (running faster than you dialed in) would win.

I was running my '71 Cuda against some kind of fiberglass bodied "Funny car". I drove it on the street. I am absolutely positive he moved his around in a trailer. If I had to guess, I would guess he was even running "hot block". We guys running street cars tried to be courteous to the guys running the hot blocks and "set the light" as quick as we could so the other lane did not harm their engine. They also had "rail dragsters" and "bikes" (those guys were insane).

Anyway, his time was maybe three seconds less than mine. I got a three second head start. I should have beat him especially if he broke out. I did something you never do when drag racing. I looked in my rear view mirror as I was heading to the finish line. I watched the lights come down and saw him get his green. Of course, not much I could do. I was running as fast as I could. It is really a trip getting passed like you are standing still when you are doing over 100 mph. Yes, he won. I suppose I should have given a little slower dial in time, but I thought I might run a little faster when I actually had somebody in the opposite lane and I did not want to break out.

This was back in the late '70s. I sure miss drag racing - on the track. Now I drive a Chrysler Town and Country mini-van.

I SURE WISH I STILL HAD MY CUDA! 😢

Advice needed for 2017 Buick Enclave repairs

Wife had a RAV4. Took it to Toyota at about 30k for something. They did a “courtesy” inspection and told me needed brakes both axles to the tune of 2500. Took it home and pulled a front and rear wheel and inspected the brakes. Put the wheels back on and she drove it another 25k before it needed front brakes. Still had the original rear brakes when we sold at 70k.
2500 for a brake job. These people are criminals...

Semi custom or full custom bolt gun?

Why not the mini action, mag lengt isn’t a big issue for me i would pretty much change out the bottom metal for a Jefferson outdoors i believe it gives me a good amount of mag length to load them long. And if I go with a chassis they have their own BM that should take longer mags. Also if you don’t mind what load are you using in your set up.

Why a mini chassis is a better question? Does nothing for you with the round and limits you to short rounds if you wanted to try something else. Get an Origin and you can have any short action caliber you want with the ease of a bolt head change. You limit yourself massively going with a mini action. That action in the pic I have a .223, .308, 6 Creed and 6.5 Creed barrels I can spin on it.

I’m shooting factory 108 ELDs in it but also loading 110 ATips with CFE223 and getting them around 2750fps if memory serves. Would have to check for exact velocity but it’s in that area.

I agree (all my pickups have/have had flatbeds) but be prepared to add some coin to the ins check.
A like new take off box can be found for $500 to $1000 if you shop around
The last flatbed I put on was North of $7K, I know you can buy them cheaper, I just like a nice looking one on my good pickup

Very cool! .308?

I believe they all were. They were never that popular about 10-15 years ago, and the last few new examples were sold at about $1,400 on Gunbroker. Originally they were in the $1,800 range IIRC - somebody please correct me if I'm mistaken here. I looked at them many years ago as a potential want, but never had the money to buy one at the time.

As soon as the last couple new ones sold however, a few popped back up for considerably more money. Ever since then, they've become extremely scarce. I'd wager you wouldn't get into one for anywhere close to what they originally sold for.

I always thought they looked like an AI, but with a Mauser 98 pattern action.

Cheap coyote gun help

This is a .308 but I would not hesitate to build this exact setup in a .243 or 6 ARC if I was in your boat (you can take away the suppressor to keep cost down) this is my gf’s rifle so that’s why it has the custom LV cerakote job but it shoots lights out. This has become my go to “ranch rifle” that always goes to the lease with me to fill feeders or shoot predators/varmints from the truck.

DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

From Mike to the group

Quick Update 08/11/2025:

Magazines and DBMs:
Progress on the V-Series Magazines is looking good and on track. So much so, that I'm now focused on the larger assembly, which includes production plans for the DDG Standard M5 and M5x DBMs and all three lengths of the Barricade Stop.

The goal is that the Magazines and DBMs will be coming off the machines in close proximity so those with an M5 inletted stock burning a hole in your workbench will have a DBM to drop into it and new Magazines to use.

Website:
As of today, the DeLane Development Group website (www.delanedevgroup.net) is officially under construction. The site will feature all parts and assemblies available for order and supports eCommerce. So add whatever to the shopping cart and square it away when you're done. No more emailing and invoicing.

Speaking of emailing and invoicing, my Merchant Services provider is still working on the Gmail problem for those with Gmail and not receiving invoices. Thank you to all who have provided an alternate address, which has been 100% successful when sending to the alternate address.

Parts Kits:
Parts. Are. Running. This is the project that has me hopping the most and I receive daily outreach for parts and the suppliers are chuggin through everything I gave them. I expect various firing pins and other parts to ship to me by the end of this week.

Sniper's Hide:
I've been offline at Sniper's Hide thanks to the IP Address validation black hole. The confirmation email from them is going to an email address that I no longer have access to, so I have no way of confirming (after 16 years of being on SH) that it's me.

I've had someone reach out on my behalf (Thank You Rob) to let Frank and Alex know what's happening, but still no access. If you're on Sniper's Hide and want to see these updates (and more) over there, please blow up alexj-12 inbox on my behalf.

If someone would like to copy/paste this update in the DeLane Rimfire Ventures thread, I'd appreciate it.

Plus, the tractor thread has taken a weird direction and they're talking about art, of all things, so I need to get that back on track. I'm gone for five minutes and the place falls apart. Jeez-O-Peet! (that's more than I thought I'd say about Sniper's Hide)

Miscellaneous:
I'm using the miscellaneous header because I can't remember what else I had to say (pandelerium here today, as DC can attest to), so what I'll say is, I'm amazed and humbled by so many reaching out to offer to help with testing, pitching in wherever possible to help with whatever, etc. It's amazing, humbling, and illustrates how this community is pulling together. You all have my utmost respect.
