What MOA dot for target Aquisition on bolt guns?

You should read every world Sheldon wrote about 5 times and let it sink in.
Like I said, I don’t think he is incorrect about the “better way”. There are a lot of better ways for me to do things. I will keep working on them, attempting to correct the most troublesome. I expect that as I practice lining up I will use the red dot reference less and less. Yup, it’s a crutch, just like most of the accessories that are on match rifles. I am not unpracticed, but the US match winning crew will never have to worry about my competitiveness.

Noob Dope Card Questions

You have dope cards with your rifles entire ballistic trajectory logged with wind holds.

Then you have stage cards. Which might have Elev and Wind dope solely for each individual target, the stage's target or barricade/position order, unique stage notes, or anything you might need anotated for a specific stage.

I kept both with me at all times. The match booklets or the COF's would typically be public knowledge somewhat in advance for sake of speedily processing through shooters. But sometimes blind stages are way more interesting. In a way, it's a shame they all can't be blind. But it is what it is.

You come compete in my state and don't write down wind numbers (or don't have a wind hack like gun number)....you will lose. We don't even blink an eye at 25mph winds here and have shot in over 40mph. And if the matches stage layout isn't boring....it will have you factoring in value as much as wind speed. They had a match last week where 5mph was the top speed of the day. Scores were surprisingly high across the field for a few exceptions.

Best lever bipod clamp?

I have a Ckye pod and the clamp is fine but I want to get a lever clamp for convenience. I have a gray ops clamp and like it for the most part. I'm good with going RRS if the extra money is worth it and I even have been looking at the Leofoto because I have heard they work well. Im not into spending more because of a brand but Iwill spend more for quality if it worth the price difference. Anyone have any good or bad to say about any of them and are there any others I need to look at. I'm going with the gray ops arms 17 mount and shoot mainly PRS.

Accuracy International Picture Thread

I get it, just seems weird that the AT which I think the XC is based off of is smoother. I’m sure it’s a change in manufacturing process of something like that. I’m not really worried about it, just struck me as funny.

I haven't had an AT side by side to the XC to do a direct comparison and I sold my AT-LE a few years back so I am operating off of old memories but I don't recall it being all that different. The other advancements in the chassis mean a lot more to me than the bolt feel but I realize I might be in the minority there.

Brass Annealing Guide

Higher Temps shorter duration ,restores ductility . 1200-1400 Deg. F. Why so many people read 650- 750 Deg. was because mental midgets don't know the differences between C. and F.

The Single BEST article one can read is This one . It Deals specifically with annealing cartridge brass from one of the Worlds most Renown Metallurgist ; George even shows you pictures of brass grain structure and after YOU read this ; HOPEFULLY you'll understand WHY .we reloaders who partial anneal . TIME + TEMP is required for Lattice or grain restructure and WE DON'T have the TIME . So Ductility or partial annealing is what we all do .

Yup, that's a very good article! I think I came across that a couple of years ago, but for some reason didn't save it as a PDF file, until I saw you post it last year. So, thanks for that. It's now in my collection. :giggle:

It's going to take a long time, if ever, to weed out that 650-750 nonsense that's proliferated in these websites. Seems to be akin to conspiracy theories, like people not willing to listen to very knowledgeable experts? 🤷‍♂️
