2025 Scout Sniper Association M40A5 rifle raffle!

Does it even come with the suppressor? Just see it in the pictures I wasn’t sure.
Great question, and that's one I'll have to get back to you on with a detailed answer. There is no silencer included with the rifle, since this raffle is legal in all 50 states, but silencers are only legal in 42 states. It's much easier to raffle off a rifle without the silencer do to state laws that can vary quite a bit.

I need to ask JT (president of the SSA) if we are including a certificate for a silencer with this raffle. In previous years we've worked with SureFire and have included a certificate for a free silencer. However, SureFire no longer makes the correct FA762SS silencer for this rifle, so if there is a certificate for a free silencer for the raffle winner, it would have to be for one of their currently produced silencers.

Accessories Chamber reamers for sale

Text me for pics of reamer and whatever info I have. 4804678090

These are good live pilot finishing reamers with 10-15 uses on each. Plenty of life left. Hell I don’t even like reamers until they’ve cut 10+ chambers.

I bought these at the start of my career about 14 years ago and back then deferred to the tool makers suggestions or just bought a saami reamer. Now all my reamers come from JGS and they mark the shank of each one with critical specs. Having every detail lasered onto the side of your reamer is priceless… but 14 years ago I hadn’t realized that yet.

Reamers should be saami minimum body, and in most cases a saami fb/throat. You can often look at the throat grind and get an idea of how long it is, and 1-30 seems to be the most common lead angle by far, so I can usually look at a reamer and have some idea of its throat dimensions.

Looks like a short saami throat

7 Rem mag HSS PTG 190982

This reamer has its specs printed on it

Devils pixie dust

Yeah, there’s something about the geography here off the break of the Edwards Plateau, and how the wind currents deflect as it heads up into the real Texas Hill Country where we get all the oak and cedar pollen dumped on us here…plus all the mold and dust out of the Permian Basin too.

Good times.

I have no allergies, but it’s so bad this year I actually went out and bought one of those Navage powered suction Neti Pot thingies. Mixed results.

Iron Bridge Armory (IBA)XM3 build not clone correct

You mean this is not real? It looks very nice to me. (the pic could have been better) Wouldn't it have been patent infringement? Did Remington get any contract for that? I have several Remington Defense brochures from that period, it seemed they tried to dominate the military/law enforcement market during that time. I always like the Remington Defense stuff.
What are you talking about? Where did I say that the Remington version of the XM3 isn't real. I clearly told you exactly what these rifles are and aren't. There's quite a few XM3 threads on this forum and others, which contain a ton of information on these rifles. I highly suggest reading them if you'd like to learn more about them.

We've all seen the Remington advertising for their version of the XM3, this is not new information for us. Images of the Remington brochures have been posted many times, we're all aware of Remington's copy of an IBA XM3. And what Remington typically built as an "XM3" was usually quite different than the photos in their advertising (some rifles had detachable magazines, different muzzle devices, different scopes and mounts, etc.). Sometimes they were more or less a direct copy of the IBA XM3's that were used by the USMC, sometimes they were different rifles that appeared to just be "inspired" by the IBA XM3.

The ONLY true XM3's are the ones that were made by Iron Brigade Armory, whether for the Corps or for civilians. There is no patent infringement. What would there to be infringed upon? The XM3 was a collaboration between the US government (DARPA) and IBA. There's no patent or trademark on the XM3, and anyone is free to build an XM3 style rifle. Remington built an XM3 clone in the early 2010's, and IBA worked with DARPA to create the XM3 for the US military in 2005/6. It's literally that simple.

And no, Remington NEVER had a military contract XM3, all the USMC contract XM3's were made by IBA in 2006. Remington did have some law enforcement contracts for their version of the XM3, but that's completely different than the USMC military contract that IBA had.

Weight of Zermatt Origin scope rail

Mine had a level on one ring top, but yes, the direct mount like that.

8 lb rifle, held zero great with a decent number of 300 wsm rds during dope confirmation.

Same vx5 3-15 scope as Wiley

I see the rings with the level on their website. That VX5 scope is in a class by itself glass, weight, and feature wise; everything else with those features is heavier. The Zeiss V4’s are nice, but 22 oz. I’ve been looking hard at the VX5 with the HTMR reticle. I like having a ranging back up of some sort on mountains guns in case a LRF goes down. For this year, I’ll likely put my NF 2.5-10x42 and hunt with that and look for VX5 for next year. Leupold makes a 4-12 Rifleman with all those features including side focus, CDS, and it’s lighter, but it’s Rifleman glass. My 20+ year old VariX-III 4.5-14 is still working on my 300 win mag, but something tells me not to take a scope that old on a backpack elk hunt.

I appreciate all the information!

New Applied Ballistics® Quantum™ APP! - & It's Free!

Yes.

1) The target card is designed to work like this. If you individualized an input on the target card, it should not delete that input when you input general data unless you delete/reset that.

2) Their is an indicator on the target card, scroll to the right. Icons will light up for each of them. We have a video coming out on this, this week.

3) It is working as intended. We do not want to overwrite custom target values.

4) You can always scroll to the right, tap on the ENV, TGT, or WEZ button if they are lit up, and remove custom values.
Thanks for your reply.

I cannot duplicate the issue I described in the last paragraph of my previous post where if I had more than one target with individual wind conditions it wouldn't let me update the whole card, so hopefully that doesn't happen again.

I'm not seeing any visual indicator anywhere on the card for a target with individualized inputs. It's either highlighted when I'm actively changing it's individual inputs or it isn't and I'm updating the rest of the card.
I'll keep an eye out for the video. I'm assuming it will be on youtube?

Thanks again.

2025 Scout Sniper Association M40A5 rifle raffle!

e993f623-96e3-485a-89fb-d177bb566a1a.png

Well, gentlemen, it's that time of the year again! We're about a month out from drawing the winner for an epic M40A5 clone build, the rifle raffle ends on May 5th.

I donated this rifle to the Scout Sniper Association (SSA) in order to help raise money for the Marine Scout Sniper community through the SSA. The SSA is a 501(C)(3) charitable organization and 100% of the funds raised from this rifle raffle will be used to fulfill the SSA's mission. This includes supporting active duty and reserve Scout Sniper units, as well as helping out gold star families who have tragically lost their Scout Sniper family member. The SSA is a phenomenal organization and they do incredible things for the Scout Sniper community, and any support for the SSA is greatly appreciated.

This year's raffle rifle is an M40A5 clone build, and it was assembled by 2 amazing Marine 2112 armors - Jake Meyers and Deven Huffman. Both of these Marines donated their time and efforts to build this M40A5 sniper rifle. These 2112 armorers have personally built dozens of sniper rifles for Marine Scout Snipers to use in combat. This first-hand experience ensures that this M40A5 was meticulously built to the original USMC M40A5 specifications, with no detail being overlooked.

This is truly an extraordinary clone rifle, and since it's not a vintage gun, its modern features make it a very versatile rifle. You can take it to the shooting range, take it into the field hunting, shoot competition matches with it, etc. Whomever wins this rifle is getting an amazing gun that isn't just historical, it's also very usable! This isn't a wall hanger, it's a rifle that's built to take on many years of hard use. The M40A5 kit also includes many of the SL3 accessories, so it's a complete package.

You can purchase raffle tickets for this epic M40A5 sniper rifle at this link:

Please let me know if anyone has any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you very much for your support and I wish everyone luck with their raffle tickets!

Here is the actual prize M40A5 sniper rifle being test fired by members of the USMC shooting team. They easily achieved sub-MOA performance with standard M118LR ammunition, and they really enjoyed shooting this rifle. It's high praise all-round for this M40A5:
