2 heavy bolt lifts and dirty cases

Just tested some loads today. Had 2 cases on my last (highest charge) that had heavy bolt lift and they came out dirty. Specs below:

6.5 GRENDEL (howa mini bolt action)
Virgin starline
RUAG primers
107 TMK
benchmark powder

Cases were chamfered & deburred prior to running a mandrel through them.

I then primed with frankford hand primer seater.

Dumped a charge using chargemaster.

I will say though, these were new primers I was experimenting with. They went in super tight. It was pretty bad I almost thought they were going to perform so poor by how bad the fitment was. Mostly everything shot with extreme consistency as far as chrono numbers go.

I did 3 different charge weights with 5 rounds per with 107 SMK.
I also did the same with 107 TMK. The only 2 rounds with the issue were with the TMK on the last charge.

Charges went in the order below:

27.6
27.9
28.2

All 15 rounds with the 107SMK had insanely low ES & SD. The 107TMK had higher numbers but not too bad.

At the end, I fired 5 rounds with 107SMK and CCI450 as a control group since this was the first time trying the RUAG primers. The CCI450s did worse.

Below are the cases in question. I also noticed the top right corner case (this is also on the set with 2 cases in question) had what appears to be a micro crack right through the primer. I do not believe it leaked though.

Anyone had this happen before?

Thanks

Why the fuck would you hang out somewhere you don’t work? I get you’re making an attempt at a joke, but it’s pretty weak. Keep trying you’ll stumble on a good one eventually
Awe, did I touch your soft spot. I thought you had thicker skin than that.

But I did.

Powder IN-STOCK thread

More usages for it than I could mention. I have tested NONE of them.

I know it's versatile and has many uses. But the one cartridge I could use it for, I have plenty or 4350 and r16 lol.

Pretty sure it won't work on grendel or 223. I have 308 as well but not sure it's good there either.

FN SPR A5M XP?

I might see if it has any spare mags and go from there. Might offer 1800. I’m guessing when the barrel goes tits up, it’s a bitch to replace?

If you outshoot that barrel and haven’t saved up enough to pay someone to replace it, then what are you even doing with your life? :ROFLMAO: FNH guarantees 1/2MOA for 10,000 rounds. That’s a LOT of shooting, and plenty of time to find a good ‘smith. As others have noted, they’re essentially just an accurized M70, no magic involved. :)

Buy it already!

Sour Dough Balistics

Seems like my bread flour based starter is getting weak.

IMG_20250802_135515711.jpg

This sun-dried tomato 🍅 and olive 🫒 boule got some spring and generally rose well before baking.
IMG_20250801_120642293.jpg

The thing is the crumb is tight, lots of small bubbles in the starter and loaf.

I decided to put some rye and whole wheat 🌾 flour in it and see if I can strengthen it. I somehow shanked my measurements .
Instead of 20% total combined I put 20% each. 😆

So after that rose I refed it normal K A bread flour 1x1x1 and it's looking good at 2:45 .

Could use some larger bubbles.

Maggie’s Funny & awesome pics, vids and memes thread (work safe, no nudity)

I had a buddy in NC who had the same truck... But in blue. He got rearended something like 5 times in it. And every time, got an insurance settlement that was 5x more than it cost us to fix the back of his truck with cheap-assed parts.

I told him to put a switch on the brake lights so he could turn them off and get rearended more. Because after the 2nd rearend, his truck was paid for. After the 5th, it was the downpayment on his second house, which he rented out! Paul, if you are out there.. you are probably still driving that truck and your Supra!

Those truck are un-killable!

Cheers,

Sirhr
The guy who bought mine was from El Salvadore, which is where it probably ended up, and still running.

Tactical Games Scope

Have you considered the NF ATACR 4-16X42? You're not giving up much if anything in mag, clarity is awesome even up on the high end, locking elevation, capped windage, and paired with the MIL-XT it's pretty tits. Used they can be found in the sub-$2K range as well. I there's a reason you see them used so much on gas guns, they flat out work.

Firearms Remington 700 LVSF 22-250

I’m looking to sell my LVSF in 22-250, I hate to let it go but I’m out of space and have several other similar rifles that make it very redundant and there’s hardly a groundhog problem in Florida.

It’s in great shape aside from some minor scratches and scrapes with just over 100 rounds through it. It has a Seekins 0MOA rail that’s bedded, and a Japanese Cabelas Alaskan Guide 6.5-20x44 target dot scope in Leupold MK4 rings. It shoots 1/4moa with factory Hornady 50gr Vmax ammo.

The factory recoil pad melted as they always do and limbsaver sent me a new one which will be included. I stuck on a 1/2” slip on and that’s what I’ve been running to shorten the LOP some.

It currently has a Triggertech Special installed but will come with the original trigger unless you want it for an additional $100, in which case it will still come with the original trigger in the package too. I won’t sell the trigger separately.

I’ll sell it for $1300 shipped to your FFL in the lower 48 or $1400 with the Triggertech. Price is FIRM and I will not split it up. The rifles alone typically sell for this or more on gunbroker plus tax and shipping so you’re essentially getting $600 worth of optic and mounts for free.

NO TRADES.

Your FFL must accept from an individual. Payment via Zelle or USPS MO. Can do a FTF with a FL resident in the Tampa area and knock off $50 to reflect the cost of shipping. No sales to CA or any other state that’s a PITA to ship in.

First new vehicle I bought was an 87 Toyota PU. Base model, 22R engine, 4 speed, got 32 mpg. Drove it 375K miles, including a trip to Costa Rica. Started everytime I turned the key. Solid white, I named her Blanca. I only sold it because I lived in south Texas and wanted AC. Wish I still had it, a true classic.

Technically, the Jews invented Blue Jeans... Levi and Strauss were both Red Sea Pedestrians who went to get rich in hardware and banking during the gold rush.

The miners didn't get rich... the guys who sold tools and jeans did.

Of course, the Negroes did pick the cotton! So there is that!

When does the winning start?

The quicker it burns to the ground the less prolonged suffering & the quicker it gets put back together w/o all the dead weight.
"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed."

having to beat the crap out of the cases post-tumbling has noticeably shrunk my average SDs

If you're having to 'beat the crap' out of your cases post tumbling with rice, you're doing something wrong - like the wrong grain size of rice. Smaller, shorter grains work better and come out pretty much just like corn/walnut, with a regular rotary media separator. The 'milled' stuff that Primal Rights sells works even better in that regard, but holy f$ck it's pricey. I tried one bag just to see how it worked; afterwards I went down to the local Ace hardware and got a hand-cranked grain mill. Plan is to try milling my own next time from cheap, locally available rice (ie Costco/Walmart/grocery store). Guess we'll see if that works as expected.

Otherwise, yeah, I do agree that corn cob is pretty goof-proof. Just dustier than I care for. But it does get the cases oh-so shiny ;)
