Something wrong with my NF ATACR?

Ive recently been going down a rabbit hole in reference to the best MPVO for my work gun. I have made comments to some that actually surprised me with how much Im really liking my Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18. I now have 2 of them. I just recently started comparing it to my NF ATACR 4-16 F1 T3 and i am disapointed in what im seeing. I have included photos to compare.

Ive noticed that my ATACR seems to have what appears to be a haze. I took both of these scopes an set them side by side. I then set both to matching power settings of both 4x, and then 10x to compare and take photos. The haze looks much worse to my eye, but can be seen in the photos as well, its just not as apparent. Both optics were zoomed into their max mag, side focus set, and then dialed back to the 4x before photos were taken. Same with 10x.

First photo in each(1,3,5) comparison is the SE, Second photo in each(2,4,6) is the NF ATACR F1

Are the new SE 3-18 really this good, or have I gotten use to a NF that is cloudy/ hazy?

Has anyone else experienced this, or should i contact NF and see about sending it back? This thing tracks incredibly well as it should, but optically i have to say that i am a little disapointed as i compare it to other options.

Savage impulse AICS bottom metal?

Screenshot_20221007_095108.jpg
would a 110 bottom metal fit the savage impulse? Savage sales rep didn't know anything about the rifle and I got tired of waiting on hold for the custom shop. If the magazines and accufit components are compatible, is there any reason the bottom metal wont fit? I know the impulse predator uses AICS bottom metal, but I cannot stand the camo. I'd rather buy the impulse big game (which is cerakoted as well) and use AICS mags.

Many Thanks on a Devastating Day

Thank you So much for All the Support,

I was devastated yesterday when I got the call early in the morning, I speak to my Mom everyday I am not on the Range, and Monday was no exception. We spoke Monday afternoon, I was just telling her I was coming back to CT for a party they were having in August. She was very happy and asked me to come, which I said I would. She sounded a little off, but about 2 weeks before she got dehydrated and was being looked at. She was back home and planned on calling me Tuesday as usual, we normally speak before she heads too bed.

When Dan called Tuesday morning I knew it was bad, he and I don’t really speak unless it’s important. The Silver lining in my brain, she passed peacefully in her sleep.

It’s crazy cause I always try to make her laugh, I am gonna miss her telling me, “you’re crazy” as I explained to her last month I was too busy to go to a funeral and her only windows where certain times in the Summer. She laughed as she does.

She was incredibly strong for her size, she contracted Good Pastures disease a few years ago and spent 10 months in a coma following a machine from Yale to Bridgeport to NYC, they told her a lot of things after and she beat them all. A few years ago she was with me and had a Stroke, Marc was the first to realize it. Whenever she beat the odds she would say, see I’m the strong one, I honestly thought she would outlive me some times.

I wasn’t even unpacked from Alaska, which seems to be my life lately, tripping from one thing to another.

I’m gonna miss talking to my Mom, she was awesome, I had the best possible childhood with her, she was present and engaged in all aspects of our upbringing, a rare quality today.

Thank you to Everyone, I sincerely appreciate it, and to Laura for being a rock during all this. She is awesome, so don’t cross her while I am gone, she won’t stand for it.

Other forums

Just complaining I guess. Anyone notice other forums, particularly accurate shooter, has a forum boss that is a little bitch? If you voice your opinion over there or say something he doesn't like, it gets taken down immediately with no explanation?

People complain about others not contributing to the site and they wonder why people don't. I've never seen a group of such sensitive men in my life. The testosterone levels over there need to be studies for extremely low levels.

who likes the 300 wsm ?

So mate is going to sell his .270 .
Hes in the market for a new rifle .
Bergara, tikka , springfield arms , savage he,s thinking .
He likes my Sako 300 win mag , and my mossberg 7mm prc . But he wants to know about the 300 WSM ....
What he is actually after is something that has the power to deliver a fair whack out to (say ) 600 mts , because my rifles can do that , and sometimes i do shoot that far . ( on his place !) But where as my rifles are full length magnums hes after a "shorter " barrell (say 20 inch ) for the roar as his new bush rifle thats capable to shoot out to 600 mts .

So, whats the story with the 300 WSM ?
cheers

Mapping rangefinder beam with night vision

At a match recently someone recommended using night vision through the barrel of my Vector X to see where the laser hit and how it was oriented. He also had a pair of the Vectors and his reticle was at a 45* angle when he tested them this way. After checking mine recently, I found mine was oriented very similarly to his. Here’s a picture of the laser in my Vectors.

IMG_0314.jpeg

Now that I know how the laser is laid out relative to the reticle, it makes more sense why I haven’t been able to precisely pinpoint the laser location using the typical telephone pole/electrical wire tricks as the readings were not always consistent.

I also mapped the laser on a pair of Geovid Pro’s and it was halfway outside of the circle aiming point in the upper left quadrant.

I’m curious how many others have tried this trick. Has anyone else done this test? If so, is your laser oriented horizontally or is it at an angle? Has anyone noticed a difference in laser performance based on horizontality? Without having my hands on a lot of units, not sure how normal/irregular different laser beams and collimations are. Very curious to see if others can report back on their experience with this test.
