Suppressors First Suppressor - PTR

Ok, so I’m completely ignorant when it comes to suppressors. I started doing some research but there’s a LOT to take in. I hunt and shoot at night a lot so they’ll be used in a variety of scenarios.

Thinking of buying my first suppressors and looking at a PTR Spiritus for my 5.56 and a Vent 1 for my .308 / 300BO and 300 Legend.

From what I’ve seen, these have some of the best sound suppression on the market and decently low back pressure.

Any downfall to PTR cans?

I’m still trying to figure out if I want to direct thread or have an adapter.

Any insights are appreciated.

Cleaning up the leade question….

I’ll go ahead and open myself to the seeming requisite to be ridiculed for using a bore scope. Get it out of your system, you’ll feel better…..😏

Have seen a couple posts about some rather shitty chambers produced by Bergara in the heavy barreled actions. After a couple positive range sessions I went ahead with a good cleaning and decided to have a look at the bore. Other than the slight smear at the edge of the leade the barrel looks good.

HI3R8E.jpg

Seeing as this chamber *doesn’t engrave* on the rifling when chambering do you think it would hurt to have the leade cleaned up to remove the slight imperfection. This barrel already has shown some sub MOA groups at 50yds in the limited testing I’ve done.

Edit…..
Checked a handful of different brands and it does engrave on a couple but not all….
My apologies…..

COMBAT VETERAN OWNED COMPANY

Tacticon’s new BattlePack Lite is the perfect option when on the go. This sling pack is well suited carry handguns, dozens of magazines, electronics, med-kits, hydration sources, every day essentials, and of course….. snacks. All pouches have been lined with water resistant material to ensure ammo, electronics, and paperwork are not damaged by adverse weather conditions. The sling strap is positioned at the centerline of the pack to provide an equal experience for right and left-handed users. To switch between right and left-hand orientation, simply change the position of the sling strap clip located at the end of the strap from right to left or left to right at the clip point located at the bottom corners of the pack. The pack also includes a smaller strap that may be connected to the main strap to reduce the sway of the bag when on the move. The main sling strap material is adjustable in length for variations in body type or method of carry. In general, there are three ways you can carry this pack: Across the body, over one shoulder, or on your chest. For longer treks, there is a loop at the bottom inside of the pack that may be attached to the belt to keep the bag secured to your body. Velcro and MOLLE attachment points can be found at nearly every angle of the pack for any additional gear mounting requirements you may need. The inside has a generous amount of space and storage compartments for its size. Both small and large retention bands as well as a hook & loop mounted pistol retention options are generously provided throughout the entire interior of the pack in addition to its numerous water-resistant pouches.

Ring on bullet

I started loading a new load today for my .22-250. I started loading a 60 gr Vmax on 31.5 gr of Varget. I am using a Forster Coax press with a brand new Forster Ultra Micrometer Seating Die on virgin Lapua brass. Max load is 34 gr of Varget. My C.O.L. is measuring right at 2.350. When I started the first 4 rounds gave an audible click when I lowered the ram after seating the bullet. The next 6 did not have the audible click but all 10 bullets now have a ring on the just above the case mouth. I cleaned the die prior to starting. I tried running a qtip through the seating die to see if there is a burr or something with no snags. I have never had this issue before. Anyone have any idea what is causing this.

6x47 Lapua loaded with 80gr Hornady ELD-VT

Has anyone tried to load the new 80gr ELD-VT for 6x47 Lapua? I thought it would be a fun experiment to try, but I have been able to find ZERO load data for this combination. Available powders in my stockpile include N150, RL-17, and 4350. I do have some Staball Match but I have no experience loading with it. I want to save my Varget for other calibers/loads. This will be going through a 1:8 barrel at 26" long with a suppressor. The goal is to have a prairie dog gun that can really extend the range of my current 22-250 and have enough velocity with those VT bullets to really make them pop.

Who has hot rods??

Afternoon folks,

I'm contemplating building another hot rod. This will be more of a resto rod or resto mod, kind of car that I intend to drive. No garage queen. I'm talking about 7k to 10k miles a year.

if this is you, how many miles a year are you driving?

Who are you insured through?

Are you sure you are covered for replacement value in the event of an accident?

Thanks
Bob

SureFire FA762-SS cloning?

All,

Those of us with M40A5’s and/or XM-3’s know this suppressor is rare and expensive. They rarely pop up for sale, and when they do the dildo selling it wants some laughable amount for it. So, is there a workaround?

ECCO machine and BSD Fabrication are doing some awesome stuff by utilizing the SureFire (SF) lock ring taken off a Warden Blast Regulator or other SF suppressor. They’re machining the body of the Warden to interface with other modern suppressors set up for HUB attachments, so that those suppressors may be mounted onto current SF muzzle devices/brakes.

My question is can the lock collar from a Warden can be made to adapt/mount another suppressor to the MB762SSAL/RE muzzle device found on the M40A5?

Anyone been down this road yet?

Why no bespoke autoloaders?

With the current discussions of availability of custom bolt actions, this spawned a thought:
Since one of the big draws in premium REM.700SA bolt actions is the aftermarket support, why are there so few custom semiautos mfgs out there? You can build a Ruger 10/22 clone using zero Ruger parts, and still get phenomenal accuracy and reliability. Kidd is fielding awesome products and sponsoring talented competitors.
People have always said semi’s can’t compete for pure accuracy, yet anyone who has spent time behind one can definitely see the advantages of firing a rifle with instant follow-up and the fact you can shoot a condition, especially at longer distances. AR-15 parts have been adopted by many bolt action chassis, proof in the desirable nature of such modularity.
Dedicated rimfire AR conversion uppers are continuously being refined by the manufacturers, to the point you can tweak and tune many parts of the firing cycle.
Isn’t the rimfire world ready for full customs from a AR-15 platform?

Night Vision WTB: Insight/L3 PAS-23B MTM-Pi Thermal Monocular (640px MTM)

I have an L3 PAS-23 MTM-Pi 640px thermal monocular. Basically looks and behaves just like a regular 320px MTM, just with higher resolution. It’s an oldie, but a goodie, so I’m looking for another one.

I loaned mine to a buddy and failed to tell him NOT to point it directly at the SUN(!!). So, now mine has permanent burn-in.🤮

So, if you have a 640px MTM, drop me a line. I have cash or possible trade items.

Tell me what laptop to buy

I need to buy a new laptop for my small business. I want a windows based computer to run quick books and surfing the internet. I do not need to run any powerful software or anything like that.

I need something very basic for my very limited computer skills. My budget is open but I don't think I need to spend a ton to get what I need. I have been shopping and I honestly can't tell one from the other. Hope to get a few solid recommendation from others that know more than myself.

Thanks
