Ross Mk3 1910 action build- Who wants to help me spend some money!

So I came across a unicorn yesterday. A Ross 1910 action, just the action, that looks like it has never had a barrel on it. The seller said he's had it in a box for 25 years and he got it from a friend when he passed away. He guesses that it's never been built into a rifle either. For an action around a 100 years old it looks like it's in incredible shape. The original colour case hardening is quite visible. The action has everything but the rear bridge and rear sight but the seller said he may have those as well, he just needs to search a bit.

I thought about just keeping it as a collector piece but I don't collect things that don't function so it's going to be built!

How would you build up an action like this?

I was thinking to build it kind of like an a pre-64 model 70 match rifle. Pick up an un-inletted Richards microfit marksmen stock in nice walnut, throw on a varmin-ish profile barrel, and add a Unertl type scope. I would also add a Lyman/ redfield front sight as the original rear peep sights are very accurate and adjustable.

Last would be to pick a chambering. I could go with the standard 303 British but I was thinking a special build deserves something a bit more exciting like maybe 303 Epps improved or a 30-303 Improved wildcat to take advantage of all the 30cal bullet choices over .311.

Pictures attached because photobucket is being garbage today.

US military/sf/le sniper rifles vertical adjustment buttpad ?

Hi

I have noticed a a lot of US military/sf/le sniper rifles (for example: M40/A1/A3/A5, M24/A2, MK13MOD1-5, Rem700 Police/LTR) have buttpads with no vertical adjustments. Who knows why ? Just old design Mcm & HS stocks trying save some weight ? Or it have another sense ? I like oldschool army/marines rifles but suprised why they have no vertical adj recoil pad before XM2010/MK13MOD6/M40A6 were produced...

Best,

Glock 47 with some mods, 50k round review

A quick review of a Glock 47 with some modifications. It started out as a stock 47 MOS. To the pistol I added the Radian Ramjet (barrel and compensator). I chose the Trijicon SRO as the optic. I replaced the plastic sites with whatever was on sale on Amazon at the time and I added a Tacticaltrigger pack (new shoe, shorter pull and reset, minus connector). I decided to clean the pistol this weekend because I just hit the 50k round mark and thought I would give a review.

I keep a Rite in the Rain notebook in my range bag. I use little picket fences on the first page to keep track of round fired. I also write down failures and sometimes color metaphors when I have a bad day at the range. In 50k rounds, this pistol had 12 failures and 8 of them are because I did not read and follow directions. (The Radian documentation recommends 124 grain or higher ammunition to ensure function). When the pistol was new, I had some failures to eject with 115 grain range ammo. I had a few light primer strikes at the beginning of February, and I replaced the firing pin spring ($4), and solved the problem.

In terms of performance, I can easily do sub 2 second bill drills with all a zone hits with the Glock. From the holster I can do the same drill, but mag dump 20 round in 4.1 to 4.2 seconds. If I bring something like a Shadow 2 or a 2011, I may pick up a 1/10 of a second or two in both drills.

I used to compete all the time, now not so much. I shot a carry optic qualifier last year with my Glock 34 and hit Master (this pistol has talon grips and the same TacticalTrigger). I took the Glock 47 to another qualifier and shot open with it because I thought it was funny, I placed 4th out of a field of 31 and again hit Master.

The pistol does not show any unusual wear. I shoot whatever crap 124 grain ammo happens to be cheapest on ammoseek or sgammo. I was surprised at the amount of filth that came off the pistol but 50k rounds without a cleaning will do that. Glocks are fantastically reliable firearms; I highly recommend them.

SOLD Kimber Classic Custom

Nice early Kimber Classic Custom. Late 90’s/early 00’s manufacture. Bought this for a det1 clone but somehow missed that it had a ported barrel and slide. Overall it’s been shot and well used, red dot mount appears to be JB welded in place. Red dot has a dent in the hood but functions fine. Comes with two Chip McCormick mags.

$500 shipped, add $35 if your FFL won’t accept from a private party. Payment via PayPal F&F, Venmo, Zelle, USPS MO.

Not really looking for any trades unless I’d be stupid not to take it
