r/longrange just keeps getting worse and I can't look away

This is the latest random power trip from the almighty mods at r/longrange. The cognitive dissonance is astounding. Apparently a lightweight hybrid rifle is only acceptable if you're pretending to hunt at an NRLH comp., otherwise you're a complete idiot for even considering it. Then there's the relentless parroting and hivemind that the anonymity of the internet offers. And the constant cucking for the mods as if they're God's gift to the shooting sports. Who even are the mods and why should anyone listen to them. Don't get me started on the insecure douche that is lockybalboaprime. They should really change the name to r/PRScirclejerk. Am I the only one that just can't stand that group anymore?

MDT wood grip

I just bought and cerakoted a new MDT LSS XL chassis and am considering the MDT wood grip. The action is Howa 6.5 C.
I've really grown to like the vertical grip on the old Howa APC chassis. The MDT grip is canted more like the AR style but not so much.
The wood grip would compliment the paint job so... just thinking about it.
Does anyone have an opinion either way ?

Pritzker Bashes Trump Order On Birthright Citizenship

'We will not follow an unconstitutional order'​


Illinois Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker bashed President Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.

"That’s unconstitutional. We will not follow an unconstitutional order," Pritzker told reporters on Monday while speaking at an unrelated event, Politico reported.

Trump's order, "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship," asserts that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution does not automatically confer American citizenship to individuals who are born within the United States.

The amendment states: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Some legal experts have said that such a move is a constitutional change and cannot be made by executive order. The move will almost certainly face a challenge in court from civil rights groups and immigration activists.

Trump advisers and some conservative legal scholars have previously argued that the idea of giving birthright citizenship to children of illegal immigrants is based on a misreading of the amendment.

another idea that might have some benefit due to all the immigration of both kinds that we are putting up with. make English the formal,official language of the US.
ALL gov paper work,comp work,signage,phone work,road signs etc in English,nothing else. companies,states,counties,cities that refuse to do so can be sanctioned in some way.
i really don't know; but reading,writing and speaking in English should be mandatory for citizenship if it isn't already. i mean real literacy and fluency. no more press 1 for English ever. if this is required to do call center work in India it can be required to obtain citizenship here.

M82a1 light strikes

Hey hide,
I have a 82a1 and went out west with it. Was getting light strikes on 80% of my ammo, put the rounds back in and all went bang. Sent it off to Barrett, they checked headspace and replaced the sear spring. Got it back, shot 6 rounds though it, now it's doing it again. I shot 3 types of ammo, match Hornady, match thunder ammo, and ball ammo. All of them had light strikes every round. Tried to put them back in, again wouldn't fire.
Any suggestions?
I also found this firing pin spring in it which looks like it's missing some coils. Not sure if that could be an issue or if this is how they look.

Teen Jackson Reffitt Who Snitched on His Own Father to FBI Cries to CNN Over January 6th Pardons — Says He is ‘Terrified’ and Has Bought Himself a Gun

Texas teen who ratted out his own father to the FBI is reeling from Donald Trump’s decision to pardon January 6th protesters.


Jackson Reffitt, whose father Guy Reffitt was sentenced to over seven years in prison for his role in the protests against the 2020 presidential election, spoke to CNN after Donald Trump announced that he would be pardoning all of those involved.
“I’ve taken as many precautions as I could recently,” Jackson said.
“I’ve picked up a gun, I’ve moved, and I’ve gotten myself away from what I thought would be a dangerous situation and staying where I thought my dad could find me or other people.”
However, Jackson is at least showing remorse for his actions, which included wiretapping conversations that would be used to incriminate his father.
He has admitted that doing so was “disgusting” and says he feels guilt about it to this day.
“My father’s actions coming from the Trump presidency and what he thought he was doing was right just destroyed it [my family].”
”I made a very, very disgusting decision to inform authorities about what he was doing, and I still feel horrible about it every day.”
“My sisters are out there right now, and they’re rooting for him. I understand that.”
“I come from a place of love toward them. I want to be there for them, but I can’t. It just isn’t safe for people like me who have done what I did to protect my family… I cannot feel safe around him [father].”

Despite the fact he now says he feels terrible about his actions, young Jackson repeatedly betrayed his father by requesting that he receive the maximum sentence for his supposed crimes.
During his sentencing, Jackson said that his father had “slowly lost himself over the years” and “fallen into a horrible community to find a place in this life.“
The Gateway Pundit reported extensively on the case of Guy Reffitt at the time.
His sentence of seven years was the longest sentence handed out to any January 6th protester when it was handed down.
Fortunately for Guy, other members of his family and patriots across the country offered their love and support against the persecution he faced by the Biden regime.
Now, thanks to Donald Trump, Guy will now be reunited with his family and have the chance to enjoy the life he deserves.

223/5.56 brass Lapua vs starline

Im gathering components for a .223 rem bolt gun build. I understand only my rifle will be able to tell me what it likes, but as far as you precision shooters go can anyone give me some info?

How is Starline consistency, weight, how many reloads? Is Lapua worth the added expense?
I'm not going to be losing any reloads, I'll be picking it all up, but even so, just wondering if it's work near $40 difference per 100.

Question for machinists manufacturing ARs

Hello all,

I was an active member on this site about four years ago, but have been caught up with life and fell out of the sport for a while. Getting back into it and started a new account (can't remember my old account details).

I remember having some conversation on here with a machinist or two who was a manufacturer of AR receivers, but don't know if any are still around. I've got two questions. The first question is how do you all manufacturer matched receiver sets? I'm not talking about one of those nylon tipped screw things and calling a set a matched set, but an actual matched set without a gap or rattling. I was thinking the order of operations would be something like (prior to anodizing and drilling the take down pin holes), mate lowers and uppers to see if they fit together without a gap, and the ones that fit go to the next op where the pin holes are drilled (with the upper and lower clamped together), chamfered and de-burred. Then sent to anodizing. Is this the typical process?

The other question is regarding critical call outs. What are the critical dimensions of both the upper and lower receiver? I have a receiver that I've had issues with for years. I ended up completely stripping the thing and throwing all the parts onto another lower and the problem resolved itself. I mean I bought a new lower and put every part on the other lower and the issue of failing to lock the bolt back on the last round (with subsonic 300 blackout) was no longer an issue. I thought maybe something was just installed wrong initially or maybe a foreign object/debree was causing the problem , so I put the parts all back on the lower with the problem again, and same issue again. I read something on the White Oak website saying one culprit could be the bolt catch. Something about how if it's located wrong it could cause rubbing or something and slow the bolt, so maybe that's it, but really just looking for a list of what tolerances are highly important overall. At this point I'd consider the lower scrap if it wasn't a form 1...

SOLD WTT Alpha 6 creed for 6.5 creed brass

Thought I'd shoot 6 creed but that changed.

Have an open box of Alpha 6 creed brass, small primer pocket. Opened it up, ooo'd and ahhh'd at the virgin brass. Then closed the box and onto the shelf it went about two weeks ago. Have debated fire-forming it to 6.5 but dont want to damage it.

Looking to trade for virgin or up to 2x fired 6.5 creed brass. Either Alpha or better Lapua since I already have 100 Lapua cases.
