Blueprinting actions!?

Ok, so I've read a gazillion threads, heard a gazillion things, and I'm still clueless as to the math. In the old days, folks spent a lot of money blueprinting an old Rem700 action. Now folks instead buy custom actions (for probably less than a Rem700 + blueprinting cost).

But what does blueprinting really do? I mean, I've got a basic b-14 HMR which shoots (I'm a total noob at precision shooting, so I'm happy with my .7 MOA [5 round] groups at 100, but he rifle is almost certainly more mechanically accurate than I can shoot). So I'm trying to understand this concept.

1. If you have a reasonably accurate rifle, does blueprinting make a difference in raw mechanical accuracy? Generally folks say it is 90% the barrel anyway, right? (totally ignoring that it is 99% the Indian and not the arrow - I'm talking mechanical accuracy)
2. If it doesn't make the gun more accurate, what's the $*#(ing point of spending money blueprinting it?
3. I'm not trying to start a flame war or provoke folks. I'm trying to understand something that nobody has really been able to explain to me. Well, a couple of somethings that nobody has been able to explain:
a. What to custom actions really do, at a raw functional level, that box store actions don't (assuming a box store action that at least cycles and loads rounds reliably and you can get a smith to fit a Bartlein to your cheap ass action and get sub 0.5 MOA accuracy)?
b. What does blueprinting do to a box store action (Remmie, Bergara, etc)? Like, I don't care if they are filing this and sanding that and giving the action a good time from 3 succubi summoned from the 5th circle of hell. What does that handjob blueprinting actually do in practical terms? And how does that compare to a custom action?

Again, I'm trying to just understand the practical matters. To me, smoother doesn't mean much at all. Unless the "rougher" action has problems loading or ejecting rounds. In which case I don't care about the "smoothness", just the result of FTFs when in a competition. Things like installing M4/M16 extractors onto your bolt face don't mean **** to me either when the old fashioned crap (not advocating FUDness here, just not wanting a solution to a problem that doesn't reallyu exist) has successfully pulled out 5k pieces of brass over two barrel lifespans without a single issue.

Cheers folks, and again: If I'm stirring the pot, I don't mean to (for its own sake). I'm really just trying to understand the reason people are spending lots of money on custom actions, or are still blueprinting older actions, vs not.

6.5 PRC Shorty Questions

I have become a shorty snob and now I am really interested in the 6.5 PRC. I was wondering a few questions before I decide with or against it.
1.) What length would you recommend and are you going with the 1/8 twist?
2.) For those that have done it, what kind of length are you reaching accurately?
3.) What grains would you suggest and what’s the velocity you are receiving?

Short .223 Bolt Gun & N133

I've been searching pretty hard to see if there is load data out there for N133 & 75 ELD's (and 62 ELD-VT's) and for whatever I have not been able to find any. I know the 62 ELD-VT is a pretty new bullet but the 75's have been around for awhile. I have not been able to get my hands on 8208 or 4895. Ramshot Tac yielded some pretty huge spreads (ES's around 100 & SD's in the 40's) in Velocity but decent groups (around 1 MOA). I was able to get my hands on some VV N133 and tried to use some data I found with Benchmark powder to get started.

I will preface this with the fact that I am running an 18" - 7 Twist Proof Barrel chambered for the 75 ELD to be about .020 off the lands at 2.550 COAL.

I shot the 62 ELD-VT at a COAL of 2.517 (seated so the Boat-Tail sits at the Neck-Shoulder Junction)

5 Shot Groups

22.0 Gr. N133 AVG. Vel. - 2750 FPS (No Pressure)
22.5 Gr. " " - 2805 FPS (No Pressure)
23.0 Gr. " " - 2870 FPS (No Pressure)

None of these Yielded anything great, 22.5 gave me just inside a 1 MOA group. I chalked that up to possibly be jumping them way too far on account of my chamber being cut for the 75's.

The 75's yielded me some better results.

75 ELDM - COAL of 2.550 - 10 Round Groups

21.8 Gr. N133 AVG. Vel. - 2650 FPS (No Pressure)
22.0 " " - 2670 FPS (No Pressure)
22.2 " " - 2700 FPS (No Pressure - Best Group 3/4 MOA or better)
22.4 " " - 2730 FPS (No Pressure)

I am going to turn up the charge with the 75 ELD's to see where I find pressure and will update once I do.

All groups shot with N133 gave me what I consider to be acceptable SD's considering this cartridge and the purpose of the rifle.

If anyone has an experience with N133 and 75 ELDS in a Bolt Rifle any information would be appreciated.

SOLD Shanghai Public Security Bureau-issued Browning FN1922 (380ACP)

This pistol may be an outlier in this forum but I rather give some fellow here a shot at it before putting it on Gunbroker. This Browning FN1922 is in good condition for a century-old firearm, matching serial numbers, no import mark. It has its original holster and two magazines. The caliber is 9mm Kurtz (380ACP or 9x17 mm). This version is less common than the 7.65 (32ACP) FN1922. What's unique is the two Chinese characters on the grip (滬公)- abbreviation for "Shanghai Public Security Bureau" (Shanghai Police Bureau), probably one of their issued sidearms in the 1930s. A nice piece for a collector with Asian/Chinese interest.

$1000 shipped to your FFL (must accept from private individuals).

Firearms Sold

22 Creed built by an employee at LRI
I traded for it a couple years ago and haven’t shot it much. Not sure on all the specifics on the build either.
Here is a list of what I do remember or can see
20 inch barrel but not sure on the brand 5/8-24 threads 1:8 twist
M-16 extractor, lapped lugs, threaded insert for bolt knob but has a stiller on it.
Face was trued and threads cleaned up
.20 recoil lug
Side bolt release
20 moa Leupold base
Very smooth operating with good extraction
I got it new and haven’t put 100 rounds through it… almost like new still
$1500 for BA with 20 moa base
$1600 to add the Triggertech field
The only stock option I have to let go is a hogue for another $100
I’m sure there was more done to this at LRI especially when building for yourself in house. I can’t say for certain so that’s why it’s priced the way it is.

Basic Reloading/Round Workup Direction

Just starting to reload my own bullets. After some newbie bumps and bruises, I'm finally getting into a groove preparing my brass so that they are all consistent. Now I need to make a load for my rifle. 6.5 Creedmoor, Outlier 26" barrel.

What is my goal of working up different rounds? Say I have 50 rounds worked up, 5 shots with each charge, I go out and shoot and chronograph them, am I only concerned about ES and SD to begin with, or do you factor in where they are hitting on the target as well? For example, if I have a load that produces a 9FPS ES and 4 FPS SD, but shoots 1.4 MOA at 100 yards and another load that shoots 20 FPS ES and 10 SD but shoots .4 MOA, which one do I work with? Do I go with the best SD and then start playing with seating depth?

Any advice on the process would be appreciated

SOLD SOLD Beretta 92x Performance

Really nice shooter with smooth and soft recoil. Trigger is advertised at under 7lb in DA and under 4lb in SA, and this one most definitely feels like that. Previously purchased as a blem model, which can be seen by the inverted Y on the left side by the pic rail. Barrel wear is shown when the slide is locked back, otherwise I can't find any issues.

Comes with case, 1 magazine, and additional set of stock grips for use with the regular back strap (not shown).
