1962 Remington 700 SN 10001 First Year Production

So i kind of inherited this rifle and was told it was special. It had been sitting in a case in a garage for probably 2 decades when I opened it up. Has some surface rust but should be able to clean it up. Its a .222 Remington that someone decided to drill the side of so they could add a williams scope mount and it has been drilled for a williams adjustable peep sight. I don't know a ton about these guns but after some research, the Date code is PJK, which should date it to 1962.

So here we have a Remington 700, from the first year of production, with a cool Serial Number (10001) that some dickcheese decided to drill into.

I have the entire gun torn apart and will start restoring everything soon. The trigger works but its all kinds of gummed up. Going to soak it in acetone then lube it up well before reinstalling.

Any idea if this gun had any kind of value if it wasn't molested? Is it possible to fill the mount holes drilled into side (right where it says remington 700). If I do send it out, its going to @LongRifles Inc.

I've suspected for a while that my buddy is the reason we lose touch not me.

Been friends with this guy since I was maybe 20 (knocking on 50 here in a bit). And every time we lose touch for a bunch of years I figure it must have been my fault. He's had the same number forever and I seem to get a new one every 5 - 10 years. I figure "shit I must not have given him my latest number, fuck I'm a dick." Well this last go 'round when we reconnected I've caught him a few times being embarrassed about some stupid shit or another. And instead of 'fessing up this motherfucker just falls off the face of the earth! I'll finally get a hold of him a few weeks...more often months later and out he'll come with some fuckery that he didn't want to tell me about. Great guy, love him to pieces. But what the fuck?

This thread is more a bitch session for me because I don't have a ton of friends that I keep in contact with, maybe 6. And only a couple of them get right back to me. Everybody's busy, you all know the drill. Always been more of a loner myself, but I do enjoy shooting the shit with the brothers of my choosing.

Anyhow, call your best bud and tell him you love him and that you appreciate him. Make him feel slightly uncomfortable from me! Fucker deserves it anyway...

Razor G3 and Spuhr 4002

Am idiot? Have a G3 Razor and a Spuhr 4002. The wedge touches the parallax knob and windage knob when I try to use it. It appears its touching the bottom of the optic body, but you can see a very small line of light passing through it. Visually it appears level, but with each end of the wedge interfering with the knobs Im not 100% happy to crank the screws down. Have debated on shaving down either end of the wedge....
