Zeiss S3 or S5

Hi there, I got a Zeiss discount cert and is debating between S3 6-36 and S5 5-25 for prs centerfire rifle. Does anyone have experience with both of them?

Simple question would be: is S5 $700 better than the S3? I have tried my friend's S3 at the range and find the eyebox bit tight comparing to razor gen3 and leupold Mk5, while the clarity is decent.

If the S5 got better eyebox and better glass quality, I personally would think probably it worth the extra cost.

PRS Bag Fill Options Thread

Figured I would start a thread so people can talk about Bags and Fill options. I got to play with some spexlite at a match recently and am thinking about ordering some of this stuff. I have 25lbs of bags in my kit, and would like to take some of the weight out of my pack. All the bags have had some fill removed so they are more shootable. I used to run glass bags but they have gotten so heavy and end up tearing up the bags. I usualy only get about a year out of a gamechanger before the seams blow out and I just replace them. I am thinking a lighter fill will be less wear and tear on the bags and as long as its still shootable, could be a move in the right direction.

AG Plus one with Sand - 13lbs
AG Smediums with Sand - 8.5lbs
AG Smedium with Poly Beads - 4.5lbs
AG Pint sized with Sand - 7.3 lbs
MDT Peanut with Sand/Glass - 8.3lbs
Cole Tac Plate Bag with Grey Ops Pro Plate Filled with Glass Beads - 4.7LBS

The heaviest spexlite beads 5235 would be about 5.5-6Lbs in a Plus one, so about half what the heavy sand is. https://www.boxtobenchprecision.com/store/spex-lite-5235

There is also the Olympic mix which is 5325 and 5125. https://www.boxtobenchprecision.com/store/spexlite-x-ginny-thrasher-olympian-shooting-bag-fill

What do you guys who shoot PRS run? I know its tough to beat heavy sand but there may be some new options that get some of the unnecessary weight out of our kits. It would also make flying with them much easier.

Musings

Recently at ALTUS I was connecting with a silhouette at 1039 yards. (According to my range finder). Tricking a ballistic calculator to give me midrange trajectories, I noted that the bullet traveled 70 yards between 112.22 and 112.25 inches above line of sight with a maximum height of 112.59 inches. (Between 540 and 610 yards)

Knowing the effects of negative G’s (having done so while piloting to watch my pencil float) I am wondering if the time when the bullet sets at the top of its trajectory and starts downward towards the flight if it experienced loss of weight, (weightlessness) without obviously loss of mass.

Maybe not a comparison, but felines finish their jump just past the top of the apogee to have a negative weight and thus silent landing.

Note to trick a ballistic calculator to give midrange trajectories, set the range you are shooting to the “zero range”.

SOLD Bergara Premier ridgeback 6.5CM

Original owner with under 100 rounds down the barrel.
Shoots factory 140 match very well and my Berger 140 loads are under .5”

I bedded the action with acraglass as it wasn’t shooting like I wanted out of the box and that instantly made a difference in this rifle.
Some of the factory paint chipped off in the process and I just went over it with some dark gray paint. You can see it in the pictures.

I added the following:
MDT 20 moa rail ($70)
Trigger tech special 2 stage flat trigger ($250)
Sawtooth rifles arca rail made for the ridgeback. ($109)

Bipod not included. Pricing well below what I paid for just the rifle new. Great rig but I hardly use it and not worth it to just sit in the safe.

$1550 shipped to your ffl.

No trades.

Bore guide since Mike Lucas is no longer making them?

Mike got back to me and is unfortunately no longer making bore guides at this point in time. What else is out there I should grab? I've got an Impact Precision 737r on order and a barrel chambered in 6.5mm CM, and a Pro-Shot cleaning rod. (22-26/42").

I've seen the 21st Century: http://www.xxicsi.com/bore-guide.html
Sinclair models: https://www.sinclairintl.com/gun-cleaning/rod-guides-bore-guides/index.htm
I've had a Possum Hollow but he no longer responds email or answers the phone and his VM is full (I'm over it, no thanks on these)

Not sure what to go with for my setup, so any suggestions would be welcome.
