Finally realized that my Colt M4 is a POS. Doing a complete overhaul and would like to know what is the best barrel manufacturer for precision. Looking for 16-inch, 1:7 so I can shoot 77 gr 5.56. Main application is predators (coyotes and bobcats) out to 300 yds. Thanks for your comments.

Zev elite oz9, The had barrel has been ported and only has one mag ran through it. Comes with flared magwell, different springs to adjust trigger weight, and different color fiber optic filament options as you can see in the picture. I just don’t ever shoot it and now it’s become a safe queen. $1400 buys it!

I picked up several barrel blanks from an estate sale. Most were match barrels from years back, and most were Douglas. This one didn’t have any identification that I could see. Any chance someone recognized the maker? It’s a 26” stainless .308 barrel, 10 twist. I know it’s not much to go on, but somebody might know what it is.

I have searched through here and have not seen much on the 153 grain A-Tip for 6.5 for Creedmoor.

I will say this... they are LONG.

I started working up loads Tuesday and running speeds on Wednesday. First of all, the bullet really drops at slower speeds... much more than the 140's or 147's. However, the wind has minimal effect on it. At a 500 yard distance, while my 140 ELD-M's were being pushed about 4" or more by the wind, the 153's were only being pushed an inch or so.

I did pick up some H4350 to try next trip.

Here is what I have from the Hornady load Data. Shooting from a Savage 10 Ashbury Ordinance with a 24" barrel.
I had the Superformance and RL17 on hand and saw they allowed the 2650 fps speeds, so I tried, what should have been the 2650 and 2600 loads. All seating was done to O.A.L 2.80.

All brass was shot once prior. Cleaned, sized, primer pocket cleaned, flash hole cleaned from inside. Primer was Federal Large Rifle Match 210M. No neck turning or concentricity yet... That's to come later.

This is all for the 153 A-Tip...

The RL17 at 42.9 produced the best. I'm curious to see how the H4350 does. Also, I want to boost the speed a little more. Clearly, Hornady had a different variable in their testing.

I recently picked up one of the new Custom Shop Ruger 10/22 Rifles at a damn good price.

Looking for a cheap optic (Under $500) to top it off and came across the Helos BTR GEN2 4-20x50 APRS6 FFP IR MIL.

I have no experience with these Scopes, but on paper it checks all the boxes and at $450 seems like a solid option.

If anyone has first hand experience with the above scope I'd love to hear your guys's experience and opinions on it.

LMT MARS-HS with 15.3" handguard with LMT MRGG-S 20" 1:7.5 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Barrel has a Surefire .260 buzzle break, sku: SFMB-260-5/8X24 with a Surefire 260 RC2 mounted on it, on a form 4 in Colorado. Rifle has D. Wilson Arca rails cerakoted to color match. Also included will be a Harris bipod with RRS Arca/picatinny adapter.
Optics package is a Nightforce ATACR 7-35 F1 with a Tremor 3 inside a Nightforce 34mm 1.54" mount with a RAP-I bridge, and a Trijicon RMR HRS mounted on a 34mm Laure ring.
Night vision is an L3 PVS-24LR with a min 2600 WP spotless tube, with about ~5 hours of use total.

not a common rifle. have looked everywhere imaginable and found nothing in the way of aftermarket stocks. the factory stock has a very thin forend which has a poor ability to ride well on bags. it wobbles all over. might have to see about front rider. think some are around,but from NZ or AUS,i think. any info out there? with what it likes seems to want to shoot sub moa (have it in 223). thanks for any leads i have missed.

I just saw on a YouTube podcast hosted by ar15.com that Primary Arms is going to update the glx 2.5-10. If anyone has Primary Arms ear on here please get this request to them to make these updates on the glx 2.5-10: low pro adjustable turrets so that a red dot can be mounted piggy back effectively, get rid of the chevron and replace it with a cross hair aiming point with Christmas tree mil drop down , add wind holds along side the center aiming point, try to make the scope 2-10 . Keep the parallax side focus and keep the circle of death so that the scope reticle can be used without illumination at low power !
