sig cross sawtooth vs. bergara HMR pro

Hi all,

first time poster, long time fan of the site.

I'm Looking for opinions on the new sig cross sawtooth w/ proof barrel vs bergara premier hmr pro. both in 300 prc

Both have a sub MOA guarantee from factory. Sawtooth is about 1k more.

sawtooth is 8.1lb, bergara 9.8 before attachments. and 24 vs 26in barrel

I know the sawtooth is relatively new and tough to find hands on data, while the bergara seems much more proven from what ive read. And I'm torn between the two for long range hobby shooting out to a mile. with an occasional hunt tossed in maybe once a year (mountain hunting in CA)

Which co. has better CS and such
pros & cons of either platform
which may be more accurate at ELR
Is caliber changing just a barrel swap on the bargara like it is the sawtooth?
Any user experiences to draw from with the new sawtooth?

i already have glass, Razor HD gen 2 4.5-27x56

TIA!

PBS Frontline "Breakdown in Maine."

So I almost deleted this recent episode based on the recent track record of Frontline (which used to be really excellent... but has spent the last years doing nothing but attacking Trump and Republicans.) The episode "Breakdown in Maine" focuses on the Lewiston shooting a couple of years ago.

I was somewhat surprised that they did a pretty good job detailing the 'breakdown' in the mental health system that led to the shooting. It was not an anti-gun screed which I expected. But it really focused on the total failure of everyone who could have addressed the shooter's mental health issues (including some TBI issues) and prevented the shooting that left 15+ people dead.

Every time this happens, the SH community says "Mental health..." Again and again. With good reason. And sure enough, this documentary showed in great detail how the shooter's Army reserve unit, hospitals, courts, LE, etc. missed, ignored or said "We Can't" or "Not our job" throughout a months-long escalation of a guy who was clearly signalling his intentions... and whose family and friends made clear, detailed and supportable calls to 'head him off.'

It's worth watching. Yes, there was some typical PBS BS in there. But not much. I thought it was a pretty balanced and honest look at the 'real' problem.

I thought it was interesting that it Included body cam footage and some detailed communications showing clearly that there were indicators in the months leading up to the shooting.

Also shows how hard Maine (even some of its lefties) have been trying to balance civil liberties and the 2A with potential threats. Not sure it offers any prescriptions for stopping these events. But it did a good job of showing how if just one or two entities or people (including family members) had acted, things could have turned out different.

One of the first times I have seen a 'real' focus on mental health from the media. Instead of just screaming 'bad guns.' It's worth a watch.

Outstanding customer service from Manners Stocks

I ordered a Manners stock from a vendor, and it arrived with some damage to the front end. The shipping box was in pristine shape and to my untrained eye it looked like it may have left the factory that way, so I pinged Tom here via PM with some pics and just let him know he had one that may have slipped by QC and that I would work with the vendor to get it returned.

Tom called me on Friday evening after looking at the pics, while prepping for a show in Atlanta and the blizzard this past week bearing down on KC. He walked me through why he thought it probably was shipping damage, perhaps on the way to the vendor, and refused to let me go through the somewhat slow process of working a vendor return. He pulled the same stock they had ready to go up in their online store and had it UPS'd to me this week, with a label to return the damaged stock directly to him.

Thank you @tmanners for the excellent customer service, and taking the time to work a customer problem that wasn't necessarily on you to handle.

6 ARC powder consensus for heavies in AR

I’m trying to consolidate my powder stock so I don’t have 10 different powders for my rifles. Looking at dumping the Grendel and going 6 ARC and strictly shooting 95gr-108gr. 18-20” barrel.

I would like to believe that factory ammo would be consistent but my experience with Grendel during the last drought was different lots were all over the map accuracy wise so if I go this route I’ll be committed to me doing the loading. I started loading for the Grendel but lost interest in it.

So which powder should I start buying for the ARC?

SRP vs LRP

In my area, primers seem to be in stock pretty regularly, giving me options, which has me thinking what are the best primers for my application.

As of right now I'm only reloading 6.5 Creedmoor in preparation for local PRS and NRL Hunter competitions. Right now I'm using Hornady brass (from factory match ammo) with Federal Gold Match LRP. Is SRP better for my application? I see mostly SRP for competitive shooters, but is that a result of the shortages the past few years and that's all they had available?

Second question, I can get Remington Benchrest primers pretty cheap here, are they good primers? I've used CCI and Federal Match, haven't really noticed a difference, does anyone have some data on the Remington primers?

Optics Choice Help

Hey guys, I need some help choosing an optics for my rifle. I know these come up very often, but my I have not seen my choices together.
Rifle is a 6.5 Creedmoor. I will be using the rifle for LR classes. Hopefully classes to get out to 1000. Right now I have a Athlon Cronus BTR G2 4.5-29X56. Quite heavy.
Choices are:
1. Zeiss V4 6-24X50 with ZBi-68 Reticle.
2. Nightforce SHV 5-20X56 C535 MOAR.
3. Leupold Mark 4 6-24X52 PR3 MIL (But keep hearing a lot of stories about the turrets being totally off)
4. Any other suggestions?

Would likes:
Weight below 24ounces.
Illuminated reticle (Not deal breaker)
Locking turrets (Not deal breaker)

Or should I just keep the Cronus?
