Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

I have a fair bit of experience shooting suppressed, but until recently, I've never felt compelled to own a suppressor. I've always thought that shooting suppressed was more of a pain in the butt than it was worth.

I have, however, reached the point where I'm thinking that it doesn't make sense not to invest in a few. In any case, I have a couple of them coming. The big question that I have bouncing around in my head now is the attachment method.

It was my intention to just go direct thread, but the YHM srx system seems pretty cool. In my research, I've run across comments made by reviewers wherein they noted that the choice of mounting system can affect the sound of the report to the extent that it can make the difference between the report being painful to the ear and not.

Have any of you experienced this?

Accessories Kestrel holster

I wasn't able to find a tripod mounted Kestrel holder that I liked so I designed one and had it printed. I have used it a few times and its exactly what I wanted. Since some of you may be looking for something like this, I will post a link here, where you can have one made. They will print one from my file and ship directly to you. You can even select you own color. Please be aware this is a print on-demand website, so they do not offer returns or cancellations. It is designed to use 1.5in "wrap on itself" Velcro to hold it on the tripod leg, the holder does not come with Velcro. Zip ties could also work.

Look how this assholes backup is acting - he’s sure they are gonna get sued .but he didn’t step in to end the unlawful detention of the false accusations.

And he doesn’t understand that when one gets a license in another state they surrender the license issued by the former state of residence.

Howdy fellow gun nuts

I've been mostly lurking for a good while without introducing myself here. I've avoided it because I hate talking about myself. That's not because I don't love me more than all but Jesus Christ the Almighty and my mom, but because it is hard for me to convey a representation of who I am without a huge amount of self-serving bias. But I will try not to over complicate things, as I tend to do, and remind myself that in truth nobody really cares who I 'really' am, with me being the only likely exception. So I'll keep it simple and just state the basic demographic facts and a bit about shooting.

I am an aging single Norwegian bachelor non-farmer male who lives part time in Saint Louis, Missouri and part time near Springfield, Missouri. I've been into guns ever since I was a youngster and started reloading when I was 13. I later strayed from these wholesome pursuits for the thrill of debauchery, only to pick them up again after growing up. Now I am in my late 40s and exhibit more extreme signs of firearm related OCD. When I was a lad I would use various forms of hunting to justify collecting an array of firearms (I had my "Deer Rifle" and my "Turkey Gun" and my "Squirrel Rifle" and my "Varmint Rifle" and my "Pig Kalashnikov" and my "Bear Revolver" and on and on but now I just like guns and don't care about justifications. I especially enjoy all things rifle related, both rimfire and centerfire. I actually have a smaller collection of guns but shoot each individual gun much much more. I still like to kill shit here and there, but my murder power needs no regular outlet as I almost exclusively enjoy shooting at small targets far away. I also like to figure out solutions to problems or challenges in shooting by designing and creating things myself rather than spending money on stuff. If I had more money I would probably be more gadget-oriented but I believe I have more fun operating within the challenges posed by financial constraint. I definitely learn more. I work in the field of zoological waste management but would love to someday live off making and selling things I have come up with to solve problems and address needs that arise in long range recreational and competitive precision rifle shooting.

And my name is Ryan, but I always thought it would be super neato to have a nickname or a "street name" like Tiny or Murder D or Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or something really tough like that but people just call me Ryan, which is my name on my license and birth-certificate and other documents. Sniper's Hide members have cool nicknames or handles or whatever so I called myself "Grassassin" in my profile because I once ran a lawn care service called Grassassins, but nobody ever called me Dr. Grassassin, PhD or anything like that. People just call me Ryan, which is my name.

Okay.

Spotters Spotting Scope Setups - Show Em!

So I just got my first tripod and I'm starting to think about putting a spotting scope system together. I've seen a few systems that have LRF/atmospheric and NVG / illuminator together. Would love to see what you guys are running for that (bonus points if it works at night)!

Any discussion around use case for this type of stuff would be great too as I'm just starting down this rabbit hole. I've generally spotted for buddies while on my own rifle but want to learn more as I get into the 1,000+ range (starting a 300 NM build soon).

If I've missed a thread where spotter setups are shown please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, here's a pic to get things started (pulled from another thread, sorry don't remember who to credit)

Adding Arca rail to a3-5

Looking to add a full length Arca rail in place of my pic rail on my McMillan a3-5 to mount to a tripod, bipod, etc. I was leaning towards area 419 and I could fit a 10” before the little kick down to the bottom metal. I saw they make a spacer for a manners t6 that has a similar size bump based off pictures, If that fit and I used the action screw I could fit a 12”. Anyone know if that spacer would fit or could be easily modified to fit? Would using the action screw to mount the back of the Arca rail effect accuracy when clamping in and out and banging off of barricades? Should I say screw it and just mount the 10” on the flat part?

Ross Precision Machine (Paul Ross)

Outlook-t0inw4sr.png

Since 2006 when I returned Stateside from my first deployment I have been working with Compass Lake Engineering building some of the finest Barrels that I've ever had the privileged to own.

For the first few years I mostly dealt directly with Frank White, once I started ordering more one off specialty barrels Frank put me in touch with his head Barrel Smith Paul Ross.

For the first five years Paul cut his teeth under the instruction of Frank White and fast became the Head Barrel Smith behind the scene of CLE, which resulted in a well served 20-year Tenure with CLE.

CLE has since closed thier doors but Paul Ross continues to strive for perfection with his new Company ROSS PRECISION MACHINE.
Paul offers a Multitude of separate services other than Gas Gun Barrels under his new Company, He has since branched out to Custom Bolt Gun Services as well and to no surprise his quality of work always supersedes his customers expectations.

Below you'll see a multitude of Small and Large Frame Gas Rifles Photos, this is a very, very short list of Custom Barrels that Paul has turned for me producing True Sub Half MOA Gas Guns.

There have been countless Snipershide Members that I have either personally built custom uppers for or have put them in contact with Paul Ross who has used the same successfully designs that Paul and I have Achieved over the years and have all been extremely satisfied with the quality of his services, if you're one of those members please feel free to post your stories in here.

Every Barrel that I've designed or ordered from Paul has been 1/2 MOA or less, but when working with Paul it's much more than just receiving a quality product, his Custom Service is second to none and he never shies away from a challenge.
