CZ 600 Alpha AL1 224 Valkyrie Questions

I'm looking at a new CZ 600 Alpha in 224 Valkyrie. I know there's a safety recall to make the barrel a permanent installation.

But I've also read this:
For a new CZ 600 with the original barrel:
  • Safety: The original barrel and its installation are safe and unaffected by the recall.
  • Use: You can safely use the rifle as intended.
  • Modification: Avoid any modifications to the barrel or its attachment system, as this could compromise safety.
Has anyone purchased one and never sent it in?

408 Cheytac loads

I did not see a .408 reloading thread so figured I’d make one.

I did a pressure test with RL25 with 420 grain Parker Productions (Formerly known as RMB) this weekend. I loaded them .025 off the lands
SnipImage.jpeg

At 134 grains I saw pressure signs start to show on the brass. No heavy bolt lift.

From what I have observed with Retumbo and these bullets they seem to like the 2850 range. So I will test the 128-129 grain charge next time I get to the range.

I used Peterson Brass & FED215 primers.

Rifle was a factory Desert Tech HTI 29” 1:13 barrel.

What's your reloading process?

Looking to do a brief survey here....if you've got a pile of fired brass and want to reload them, what steps do you take in what order?

I ask because despite getting pretty decent results, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. My steps are:

Tumble clean
Deprime/FL resize
Wipe off sizing lube
Trim to length/chamfer mouth if necessary
Clean primer pocket
Prime
Charge with powder
Seat bullet

Thanks...

A "Publi walk" now?

The Newsmax crawl is now reporting this morning that the Publix chain of grocery stores will permit OC in their Florida stores. This, apparently, in response to the change in court actions that (apparently) now allow OC in Florida. I knew I'd heard something about that before, but was still skeptical, not wanting to be the "test case."

So, a "Publi" walk now, in addition to a "Wally Walk?" This should prove interesting. Almost makes me want to shop more at Publix to see how many will "participate."

Almost.... Still too pricey. 🤪

Xero C1 Pro - v3.30 update

Last week we released v3.30 for the Xero C1 chronograph. While adding some new functionality to simplify gathering data downrange, we introduced a bug that caused shots to be missed.

We have resolved the issue and a new version of software, v3.32 has been released today. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The new Downrange Mode in the Pro Settings can be used to verify or determine a true long range BC. By placing a second unit downrange (ex. 300 yards) and getting the velocity downrange as well as at the muzzle you can use your ballistic calculator to vary the BC until you find a match for the velocities at the distance you used. Downrange Mode will cause the display of the unit to flash black/white when it records a shot so you can more easily tell when the downrange unit has detected the shot.

Leica Geovid Pro 10x42 AB+

I've had the Leica Geovid Pro AB+ here since December and have been using it pretty exclusively since then.
I suspect, it will remain my primary binocular at least for this year and quite possibly beyond that.
I finally have a wrap-up video up on Youtube:
Login to view embedded media and I discussed it in a few livestreams prior to that.
I have not yet had a chance to use it for hunting, but I have used it for a good amount of scouting. I had an aoudad tag for late February, but my dayjob went berserk, so I had to pass on it.
The cliff's notes version is that I am quite impressed with it. Optically, I think it is the best LRF bino on the market today overall, although it is quite close between Leica, Swaro and Zeiss.
AB integration in the Leica is a nice touch, since it works with everything else in the AB ecosystem. I use it with AB's Quantum app quite seamlessly. It also connected to my Kestrel without any issues.
They way they've got data coming out is more hunting oriented, I think. Competition guys would probably lean toward a busier snapshot view. I am sort of ambivalent in this case. For the way, I use them, it does not make any practical difference.
My only real complaint is that I would have probably preferred a 50mm and if Leica really wants to go after the competition crowd, they should really consider a 12x50 version of the Perger prism LRF binocular design. Still, as is it has worked very nicely for me through some impressively rough treatment and of all of the LRF binoculars I have tried, this is definitely the one that produces the least amount of eye fatigue. I can use it for a substantial amount of time through the day without any issues.

Pros and Cons of 33XC vis a vis 338 LM

Hi All,
I currently shoot 338 lapua magnum (300 grain berger out of a 26 inch barrell in an AI AXMC). I am looking to take part in ELR matches and considering an upgrade to 33XC.

However I want to make sure that I dont just get carried away by all the advertised advantages (higher MV) but also understand the problems with this new caliber.

Are there shooters here who have shot both 338 LM as well as 33XC? I am interested in their opinion about advantages and disadvantages of 33xc vis a vis a 338 LM.

Please only add your inputs in case you have used both these calibers and/or you are an active ELR competitor. Grateful for your time and attention.
