Amazon deliveries in the middle of the night

Anyone else having Amazon deliveries at odd hours?

A buddy had a car driving very slowly past his rural home at 3:30 in the morning. After multiple times, it pulled into his driveway, the driver exited and began walking around his house. The driver then met the homeowner (and his 1911 and taclight). The African's shaky English was even shakier until they sorted things out.
He was an Amazon driver trying to find the correct address and figure out which door to drop the package at.
Totally legit, and now better educated on the risks of being a stranger walking around a farmstead at night.

I assumed that this was a very rare occurrence and or only happened in my buddy's area.
Until I heard gravel at 4:00am...

A small SUV slowly crept up my long narrow dead end gravel drive (way in the middle of nowhere) and stopped beside my truck.
I assumed the worst, and yelled out asking what they were doing and shined the front of the vehicle.
(no license plate on the front)
The dome light then came on revealing a small young black person. (my black friends are much larger and much older)
I definitely didn't know this person, or vehicle, so I waited to see what they would do.

A little lady slowly exited and walked in front of her headlights holding a package high in the air.
She stood there a few seconds and announced "package delivery, Amazon". I inquired "at this hour?" and she said they deliver 3:00 to 7:00am.

I realized that it was probably legit, told her to set it in front of the steps, thanked her, and told her to have a nice day.
(I figured I had already scared her half to death so I was tying to sound much more friendly than before!)

Of course it was actually for my neighbor, which she soon realized and came back up the drive.
We told her to just carry it across to his house which she did. Apparently, she needed a picture or a scan because no sooner then she backed away from my place she drove up to my neighbors house (combat Vet). I thought "Oh Shit" she's determined to get herself shot.
Fortunately, all went well and she was on her way.

I'm all for expedient package deliveries, but this seems like a bad idea.
I am however, glad that I am aware of it for future reference.

Thought it was worth sharing in case someone else encountered a similar event.

.308 mtu or m24?

Hey there, hopefully you guys can help me. I recently bought a McMillan a5 stock for my Remington 700 .308that’s cut for a mtu barrel. Now that I have the stock on the factory barreled action (sps varmint) it looks kinda goofy being so small. I’ve recently looked at getting a new barrel for it and debating between a krieger m24 or waiting to try and find an actual mtu in stock somewhere. I can get the m24 shipped to me today but not sure if it would also look really small in the mtu cut stock. Any info or help on this from anyone?

Ballistic-X App - Update inbound...Give us Feedback!

Development begins this Monday for a revamp of layout, added features for base App, and additional features in the Advanced Toolkit. From the start, the App has been $7.99 for life. No ads or gimmicks and the App has grown in features since then. The Toolkit was a means to generate additional funding ($9.99/year) for the Advanced user. This has been slow but intended to grow with comprehensive logs and data, which will be happening this time around. App Development is not cheap! Mean Radius was the main feature behind the paywall, but after Hornady ripped off the App and included Mean Radius in their version, we went ahead and included it in our Base App. I’m very pro capitalist and pro competition as it’s great for consumers but the unoriginality annoyed me. I also realize any future work I do is essential R&D for them to copy…but I digress. We have had complaints of those that purchased the base App and were upset that the other functions were not accessible, resulting in a bad review. It was never my intention to be gimmicky like that but the distinction between base App and Toolkit has not been as clear as it should have been. Other bad reviews have been almost 100% misunderstanding of functions or the App coming unstable after a phone update. It’s surprising how many are upset that the App “doesn’t support 300 BLK caliber”. With the crashes, we generally resolve them within a day or two, but the negative reviews are seldom rectified. If you’ve used our App, we’d love a review to help offset that! Anyhow, onto the coming updates:

First up is Auto-Targets. Lots of people have requested Auto Impact marking but that’s actually the last thing on the list for Automation. Having printable targets that the App can recognize means one could print, shoot, then hover App camera, which then auto aligns and captures image. Size Reference and Point Of Aim can both be easily established and automated. Impacts perhaps could be as well but with more variables with precision stacking, which would require manual override…which gets a bit in the weeds.

From the start of the App, I’ve wanted to add metrics and accountability to shooting. My frustration with cherry picked groups and “.5 MOA all day if I do my part” has never subsided. The merits of 3 round, 5 round, etc are well established and have been for years. A 10 round group is cool and sure, is a better representation of the rifle…but in most cases, every round cannot be accounted for which means the your left with messing ES/Extreme Spread.

Here are the parameters:

1. Standard 8.5x11”
2. Precise POA
3. POA 1 MOA/.3 MIL lower than POI so impacts do not alter POA
4. 3x 3 round Groups so each impact can be accounted. 5x per can be done but more likely to not be able to distinguish all 5 impacts.

This makes the target accessible for everyone for data at 100 yards. It gives 3x groups which will output standard MOA results and standard MOA average between the 3. A new Overlay will take all 3groups and combine them with a data taking each impact and averaging them rather than taking the average of each 3 shot group and averaging them. This first target will be a proof of concept and subsequent target will be built off of it. Other targets and training drills we be available as well, some from known names in the Precision shooting community! (Second image is a free printable target online; I’ll be making a BX specific with open space for the aggregate image and for hand written data).

So there you have it…”shoot holes” in the concept and give any feedback we can make the best solution for the shooting community!

USMC Ghillie Suit Build

I built this ghillie suit back when I was 17 based on information and videos I had found back in the day. I tried to look up the youtube videos, but was not able to exactly remember what all I had watched or what guides I looked up back then, nonetheless:

I recently came across a post where an user had posted this image:
18588.jpeg

Just wanted to get opinions and recommendations from some actual USMC Scout Sniper's on here on accuracy, and what could be improved or changed for future builds. I would also like some input on what type of load rigs, belts, or vests were used when wearing these out in the field.

I know that most ghillie builds are specific to the environment that they will be worn in, but this one is meant to represent general woodland camo. I plan to add local vegetation and such once I'm out on the hunt or competition. Patches are not meant to represent any real-life insignia or designations, I was just 17 at the time and fascinated with USMC snipers.

Thanks in advance!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From what I remember, this is how I made it:

Materials
  1. Tan Burlap (hand stripped and cut)
  2. Color Dye (Brown / OD / Black)
  3. 1" Cube Netting (hot glued to jacket and pants)
  4. Heavy-Duty Canvas (Skid Pads - coated in Waterproof Sealant - edges sealed with hot glue)
Process
  1. Strip and cut burlap (2 square yards per color)
  2. Dye burlap and let dry for 24 hours
  3. Measure and cut canvas skid pads
  4. Coat skid pads in sealant (let sit for 24 hours)
  5. Measure and cut netting for Jacket and Pants (back half only including jacket hood)
  6. Hot glue skid pads to Jacket and Pants (let sit for 15 min)
  7. Hot glue borders of skid pads (1/4" across each edge or 1/2" thick seal) (let sit for 24 hours)
  8. Hot glue netting to Jacket and Pants (glue every 2 vertex in X and Y) (let sit for 24 hours)
  9. Tie Burlap Strands in bundles of 3 (2 bundles per cube edge in X direction only)
    1. Follow woodland camo pattern of the jacket and pants for the color scheme

Went to sell my 49-56 MSE and ended up spending more money

I built a copy of the French MAS49-56 MSE, a rifle made for Interntional competition based on the MAS 49-56. Only 900 were made. I found an original scope and mount, an original cheek-piece, butt spacers and made a passable copy of the buttplate. I did not get the butt-stock right and was never happy with it. Well, I went to post it for sale and forgot the correct nomenclature for the scope so went to e-bay to look for the scope as they always have a couple for sale. Typed in MAS 49/56 and what pops up but a copy of the correct buttstock. Not sure if this is a new made copy or one of a rare run of 150 that was made 50 years ago. Coming from a surplus store in France. Guess I have to sell something else.

Question on components per application

I’m only using Lapua brass for my 338 Lapua. I’ve got an Annealeez on the way. My question pertains to various 308 loads.
I’m loading “bulk” 150 grain training ammo for the SCAR in range pickup brass that has been annealed, sized, and trimmed. I don’t expect better than 2 or 3 MOA from my 13” SCAR. Other loads are 125 grain controlled chaos for the SCAR (my real priority ammo), and 125 grain SST which is my training ammo to approximate the 125 controlled chaos in the SCAR.
I’m also loading 168 SMK for 600 and under in my 24” MRAD and 169 SMK for up to 1k in my MRAD.
My question pertains to brass. In addition to thousands of “bulk” cases, I’ve got 700 Federal cases from FGMM, I’ve got 500 NEW Lake City primed cases, I’ve got 500 once fired Norma cases, and 100 new Lapua cases. My thoughts were to use the Lapua for the 169. Originally I planned on using Lake City for the 168, but I keep hearing that Norma is better. The 125 grain rounds are more like 400 yards and in so I’m not sure if I should stick with Lake City for these? Or Federal? Or I’ve got more Norma loaded that I can practice with to produce more cases.
The Norma brass at this time was all fired from my SCAR. The FGMM was all fired from my MRAD.
My process is
Deprime, wet tumble without pins, anneal, lube, size with Redding type S bushing with expander ball removed, measure case, trim, chamfer, wet tumble without media, prime, graphite on case neck (should I also mandrel?) throw powder from Chargemaster Supreme, seat bullet with Forster micrometer die.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
I hope I’m not leaving anything out. It’s almost 2am.
I’m using a Wilson case gage micrometer and/or sinclair comparator.
The new primed brass will be run through the mandrel, graphite powder on the neck, throw powder, then seat.

I should add that the 150 grain bulk will not be loaded in that sequence since it will be loaded on a Dillon and I don’t trust the Dillon priming system. That ammo is the least of my worries, however.

Is there anything more rewarding

Is there anything more rewarding than seeing new shooters discover the fun of accurate and easy shooting rifles? Got to go shooting with my niece and nephew over the holidays and they had a ball shooting milk jugs with my 22 and 223. Pretty sure they are hooked.

SCOTUS Denies Trump's last bid to avoid Sentencing.

Apparently, the decision came last night. The justices voted 5-4 to deny, with Chief Justice Roberts and Amy Coney Barret siding with the liberal justices to deny. Therefore, he will be adjudicated/sentenced this morning at 9:30am and, officially, become a "Convicted Felon."

This is going to be interesting. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when Trump takes the "Oath of Office" on the 20th from Roberts himself! Will make for some interesting small talk on that dais! That is, if Roberts actually does it! I wonder if Trump will insist on a different justice (Thomas or Alito) if he can.

Second, what will be the fallout from all this? Will "unfortunate things" start to happen to Judge Merchan or DA Alvin Bragg? Or any others involved? I mean, I'm sure Trump's legal team can get the case reversed and dismissed, no problem. But for that "stain" of becoming a "Convicted felon..." will there be any "retaliation" against those doing the "staining?"

Hmmmmmmm..... Break out the Popcorn! 🍿

Optics March Fixed Power "High Master" 40-60x52BR 1/16 dot reticle

Like new in original box with all paperwork and accessories.
2100.00 shipped

"March Fixed Power "High Master" 40x-60x52mm EP zoom
The March EP zoom 40x-60x52mm is based on the well regarded and match winning 36x-55(fixed power)x52mm EPZ scope. It has increased magnification and the same Super ED lens and high refractive glass as the 48x52mm fixed scope, with the added advantage of external zoom adjustment to absolutely guarantee zero POA shift, essential for benchrest and competition shooting. The High Master Lens System has 2 Super ED lens elements within its lens system. By using Super ED lens elements, we can suppress chromatic aberration even more than with ED lenses and thus produce a sharper image with greater contrast, while still having a strong scope.

This 40-60x52 EP Zoom scope has a 1.5 magnification ratio zoom ocular lens. Basically a 55x fixed focus scope is magnified with an eyepiece in the range of 40- 60x. You are looking at the same image as through a fixed scope. Essentially this is a fixed scope and we guarantee zero POA shift. Please note that the ocular lens extends when changing the magnification. The weight is 680g(23.9oz)."

From bergara to custom

I currently have a bergara premier in 300wm and I put it in a AG composite stock . It’s a good 1/2-3/4 moa gun but with a 26” barrel and gen 3 razor it’s ridiculously heavy . I saw where I could buy a barreled defiance action for a reasonable price , and was wondering if I threw that into a AG stock would I have to get it bedded or sent to a gunsmith to make it work ?
