Anschutz 1710 at a Dallas are vendor - Is this bad condition?

I found a Anschutz 1710 at a DFW (Allen,Tx) vendor. I'll attach photos. Please tell me what I am looking at inside the action. The salesperson said this was from inserting a chamber flag. I told him that's ridiculous he expected me to believe that. I told him that, then he replied he would send it to be re-barreled. I came back to check if it was sent and it was still there, exact same condition! Not even an attempt to clean it up!

The chamber inlet bottom it appears to be very rough, perhaps cracked?

Also what throws me is the 22.75 inch barrel. It's that a normal size? It was NOT threaded.

Buyers beware.

Sako TRG Damaged Threads? Or not?

Picked up a used TRG in .338. Tried screwing the thread protector on but no dice. Looks like they might be damaged? Rifle had a self timing muzzle break on it before- poor installation? Or am I just crazy. Or are the threads fine? Not sure why the protector seems like it is too small. What are my options?

JP PCC question

I got to shoot a JP5 at a USPSA event and I was really impressed with it. I went to their web site to look at them and I noticed that they actually make two different PCCs. The JP5 which is a roller delayed system and the JP GMR which is a direct blowback. I am not looking to compete with the PCC. I have shot four two gun matches this year and I always preform worse with rifles compared to pistols. Effectively the courses of fire are for the most part short range with a lot of snap shooting inside 25 yards. I have a place to shoot rifles in a way that I would consider good practice but it is an hour drive from where I live. If I had a PCC, I could hit two different indoor ranges and practice some of what I am hitting in matches. I also am guessing that practicing with the PCC would be less expensive with less wear on the equipment compared to my rifle.

Now that I went through all of that, I would actually prefer to buy whichever version is going to feel more like my rifle (recoil impulse). For those of you that have shot them, can you point me in the right direction?

B-14 Heavy Barreled Action

Howdy Rimfire peeps-

I was hoping to drop a quick inquiry about the Bergara B-14 Heavy Barreled Action and what the collective experience has been thus far outside of the other postings of experimenting with it. Just to explain my expectations- I've been playing around with NRL22 matches for the past 4 years using a Ruger 10/22 Target model with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 scope and have had varying results but nothing egregious. Last year I purchased a Kidd Supergrade around January and added an Athlon Cronos BTR GEN 2 Scope in May during a Memorial Day sale. I just got the scope mounted to the rifle last weekend and am hoping to try to put that combo through its paces next Sunday.

Back to the Bergara- I can't help but feel an attraction to this as a bolt action product/possible trainer and was hoping folks here could share their experiences. I can't imagine that the heavier barrel profile provides much more benefit with a 22LR cartridge as compared to their standard barrel profile other than weight/balance but am open to hearing any opinions to the contrary if I'm mistaken in that. Aside from that, is there a general consensus/opinion on what the proper chassis/stock is to mount that action on?

Competitions around here are actually rather prolific- the NRL22 matches are mostly monthly with my initial shooting crew- MARS matches used to be pretty big around here in the area but PRS22 matches seem to be slowly taking more and more ground in that regard.

Anywho- all that to say with someone that has a Kidd SuperGrade to run through its paces this year, is there any value in purchasing the Bergara B-14 Heavy Barreled Action as compared to their standard 22LR barreled action from an accuracy/balance standpoint? Any recommendations from the Hide on stocks/chassis/scopes from what I'm figuring out?

I've been playing phone/email tag with A&J over the past week and am planning on calling them back this week to provide my own questions to them but just wanted to see what the Hide thought ahead of time is all.

.300 PRC Barreled Action Recommendations

I want to preface this by giving some background. This will be my first precision rifle, and with that, I want to build a quality rifle capable of shooting long distance & competitions. I plan on building the MDT ESS Chassis System, and currently I am looking at the Christensen Arms Mesa 300 PRC barreled action from Brownell's. Just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone has experience with this action/barrel or recommendations for a better option at, or around, the same price point (aprox. $800).

Just trying to learn and get information from you guys who are way more experienced. Thanks in advance to anybody helping out!

Range Report Range Report on Hornady American Gunner 6.5 creed 140GR BTHP

Quick Range report for you: Hornady American Gunner 140GR BTHP has been my load of choice for my B14HMR for the last 600 rounds, overall I really like the round and think it is the best bang for my buck. It generally shoots between 1MOA and .75 on paper at 100 yards.

Usually out of my B14 my MV is average of 2630FPS. With this MV my dope for 1008 yards is usually 9.7 mils of elevation.

Yesterday I was out shooting 1008 yards and noticed that most of my rounds were going right over the target with my 9.7 DOPE which had been dead on during several previous range sessions at this very distance/target. I was perplexed and after some time we re chronographed the ammo. This was a new 200 round can that I was shooting and we determined that average MV was around 2700 FPS or nearly 70 FPS higher than my previous lots of the same ammo. Once I adjusted my kestrel with the new MV my dope showed 9.4 mils and I was again dead on at 1008 yards.

Just wanted to share in case this helps anyone. Curious as to your thoughts if maybe you have had similar experiences. The lesson for me was to re chrono if I start to see consistent changes in elevation in comparison to previous dope. Ultimately I still really like this ammo but this was a learning experience.
