A question of "cash"?

Doubling down on my previous post tonight about "manly" things-

I'm finishing up on applying leather conditioner to my "fine leather goods" & one of which is my wallet in which I took everything out off prior to applying the leather conditioner... A handful of credit cards, insurance cards, and membership cards to places like the AL & VFW, my total amount of actual cash was a whopping $6. That's one $5 & $1 bill & that's all I had.

This is a bit "wild" to me because 20 years ago I would have felt absolutely naked if I had anything less than $200 cash in my wallet. $200 now is worth significantly less than it was 20 years ago and $6 wasn't much money even then either. But I really don't use cash these days...

Anywho- I'll have to hit the ATM or bank and replenish my cash reserves but the question posed is whether anyone else is surprised with how little cash they carry/use regularly as compared to what they used to.

Any Auto Technicians Here?

Any Auto Techs here? My buddy's 17 year old kid just cross cabled a jump start attempt. He quick pulled the cables, put them on right, got the car started, but the car will only idle and drive at about 3 mph- I read about something called Limp Mode?

Anyway, he said the battery tested good, he can run the A/C, but the engine ignores the throttle position because he thinks the computer has locked out the throttle as a precaution?

Firearms ELR Rig kit: BAT EX Action with BMG & Cheytac bolts, Bartlein 375 Barrel Blank, Terminator T5 Brake, Bix Comp Trigger

ELR kit
I had some help selecting this setup from one of the great elr shooters of our time. He said order the action with 2 bolts and you can set your rifle up “switch barrel”. This gives one the ability to run both 375 Cheytac and 416 Barrett on the same rifle with just a barrel vise and some go/no go guages. The included blank supports .375 Cheytac/Enabler territory.

BAT EX 2” action stainless

Bat Action wrench (not in the photos)

Cheytac bolt, stainless fluted

BMG bolt, stainless no flute

Bartlein 8 twist 375 blank 1.75-1.50” muzzle for 36” finish length (37” now)

Terminator T5 muzzle brake (1.5”) .375 cal
I went with 7/8 24 threads based on advise from Mile High about this thread pattern being optimal for the new TBAC 50 cal suppressor mount

Bix n Andy Comp trigger w/sear insert

$5500 for all

buyer covers shipping from my FFL to your FFL

I also have a Manners LRT 2.0 for Bat Ex with both weight kits, prism rail, in Elite Plains high gloss on order that will be finished mid 2025. I had plans to cerakote the action bronze to compliment the stock colors. It is not paid for but will cost approximately 3k if you want it.
I will pass it on to you at cost when it’s ready if you like.

Powder River Precision 10/22 receiver

Has anyone used one of the Powder River Precision 10/22 receivers for a build? I saw Don on RimfireSS YouTube channel did a build with one using a Lilja 10/22 match barrel. It shot lights out. I shoot 22lr bench rest with a Hole Shot 2500X in unlimited and a CZ457MTR in factory division. We also have a semiautomatic division and I would like to build a 10/22 for competition. Thanks, Joe

First Time Shooting ELR

Hey everyone, just wanted to share some of the experience I had while setting my own personal record for farthest hit this weekend.

I had the opportunity to go out to a range while visiting some family and I brought the MRAD with 300 PRC barrel. I had the personal goal of 2500 yards as that’s the max for the range, but only was able to make it happen at 2158 yards.

I wanted to ask a question or two to those of yall with more experience regarding wind and ELR shooting all together.

-Wind calls from AB Quantum were accurate out to a mile (round was still supersonic) then at the 2k mark I found myself holding a ridiculous and inconsistent amount to get impacts. Input? I’m pretty confident I was putting the right data in, and wind was generally consistent from me to the target with what I was seeing at my own location.

-Elevation data, again between AB Quantum and a kestrel which is still just AB vs AB. What are you guys doing to true up at distance? I’m familiar with MV truing, CDF, and DSF, but what are y’all doing for those longer distances to increase first round hit probability?

Pictures for your time! Picture with red square is the shooting platform as viewed from the target.

Impact NBK LA paired with Bix’n Andy - what top sear? Low? Or?

Have an NBK and looking to gather more parts for it. The trigger pin to cocking piece distance is measuring .154”. Looking at a top sear compatibility table, it looks like I am going to need a low sear. But also looks like I’m at the upper limit of sear engagement before having issues. So wondering what sear others are using and if you had to shim the hanger to get a bit less engagement. Reading it sounds like impact used to send a different trigger hanger and switched to the Current one due to trigger tech trigger sears. Any one know if the older impact trigger hanger is available custom order? Looks like .010-.015” less engagement would center me more in the sear comparability window.

How about we have a thread about the "paranormal"?

Before I get into the introductions- a bit of "housekeeping" on the topic. The subject of "paranormal" might elicit images of folks wearing tinfoil hats but at the root/etymology of the term- all that the term "paranormal" means (academically at least) is topics that are beyond scientific explanation. Nothing more & nothing less, it's just subjects/topics/experiences that aren't (yet) able to be explained.

That being said now- I suppose I've always had an interest in the 'paranormal' but almost always from a curiosity point of view rather than from personal experiences. The closest I can relate to would be frequent deja vu experiences. But this topic has always been of interest to me-

I've started posts here asking for ghost stories. Not necessarily because I personally believe in ghosts but more so because I'm enthralled with the history behind those stories. Reckon that growing up just outside of Gettysburg helped to form that curiosity. I used to be a voracious reader, reading all sorts of published stories about ghosts & pirates (among other topics).

I'm not sure I believe 'ghosts' exist intellectually but I still find those stories fascinating, I also love the supposed video footage "proving" shadow figures/whatever exist in certain structures/locations. Again, it's primarily because I find the history/story as the explanation as being of the most interest to me personally.

One element of the paranormal though that I do permit myself some leeway in being more openminded is when it comes to space, time, extraterrestrials, things of that nature. I'd like to think that there's an intellectual element to my belief in being open minded on the subjects but that's just me (and open for argument).

BUT- on the topic, it's said that there's more stars in the sky than grains of sand on Earth. So, in my minds eye, it would be more than plausible to believe that each of those stars a multitude of planets in their orbit/solar system. And each of those planets likely has moons. The vastness of this rabbit hole is just mind boggling for a simpleton such as myself. But the numbers are just... astronomical and to believe that life exists ONLY here... on Earth alone, in our solar system, I just can't help but find that mathematically implausible.

I'd also argue that being open to the belief of "aliens" from the perspective previously mentioned is not the same as believing that little green men keep visiting earth and are abducting humans & colluding with local governments who are covering up their involvement for decades. All I'm offering is the belief that (in my mind) mathematically there HAS to be multicellular organisms inhabiting the galaxy/universe. On the subject- I've also always considered our 'table of elements' which shapes science as we know it and wondered if the same elements/rules would exist on other planets/moons/solar systems (I lean towards there being a high probability where it doesn't/ even our understanding of life being carbon based may be changed with the gravitational influences in other solar systems.

Enough rambling from me now- anyone else think about/have an opinion on the paranormal?

Schmidt Bender PMII 5-25 Ultra Short question

Hey guys, I see 2 versions of this scope. One is the original with the dedicated illumination dial on the left, and the newer one without it. Does anyone know if there's any other difference between the two versions and if there's any difference in the glass or weight? Looking to pick one up and was wondering if it's worth it to pick up an older one if I can find one for cheaper.

PSA M110 clonish rifle

Mac at the Military Arms Channel reviews the PSA M110

For those of you who do not want to watch the video, Palmetto State Armory is selling an M110 clonish rifle in either .308 or 6.5 CM. He reviews the 6.5 CM. He tried multiples of ammo and all of them shot sub moa. The best group was .23 moa. That bottom left group in the picture is awesome and made me laugh.
PSA M110.jpg
The rifle sort of looks like the M110. The rail resembles the KAC rail. PSA went with a more practical muzzle device so no can that chokes all the way down to the gas block. Speaking of the gas block, it is adjustable from the factory so you can tune it to your ammo and suppressor of choice. Looks like it is around $1,400 on the PSA web site.
