Another Picture Thread - All Other Semi-Autos

Not like the others?
Post it here.

My MCX got a few changes after I got the updated carriage assembly.
Swapped out the skeletonized fix length folder for the kinder gentler collapsible.
Swapped the T-2 Micro out for the Strike Eagle in a Spuhr mount.

PRS Talk Dual Prs rifles? Same? Different?

So just seeing what others are doing. I have a 6GT Prs rifle and I recently picked up another action to go along with a previous 6.5cm barrel I was using. For those that have two Prs rifles. Do you set them up the exact same or do you set them up differently? Different chassis/stocks, optics etc.

Or the other option is if you have two precision rifles and they are different; is one a prs and one a nrl or what purposes?

Norma Bondstrike 180 300 PRC

Helping put a rifle package up for a friend of mine that is taking a trip out west this fall. He's more of a hunter than a shooter so he was leaning on me for the setup. With that being said he isn't going to be reloading either. I have been wanting to try some of the 180 Norma Bondstrike projectiles since last summer but they have been unavailable. In the process of ordering some ammo for his rifle I did see a couple boxes of their 300 PRC ammo using that bullet. The bullet on paper has some great specs but I'm perplexed by the loaded length of the cartridge. The OAL of the Norma is 3.345 while a compared 212 ELDX is 3.634. Granted this is a larger projectile but just wondering why? I have a hunting round that I use 180 Berger's loaded to 3.605 for the 300 PRC with great success. Just wondering what that jump may do to accuracy?

6.5 CM Ammo

Got a new MPA BA PMR PRO II in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 26" barrel coming in a couple days and I'm looking for some ammo to start with.

Thoughts?
Hornady 140G ELD-M $1.70 a round
Federal Gold Metal Berger 140G $1.67 a round
Federal Gold Metal SMK 140G $1.55 a round

I'd prefer just buy a bunch of ammo to save on shipping and call it a day is there a consensus on what would be best?

Thanks!

New member from MA

Hello all,

I'm very new to the world of precision rifle shooting but not new to shooting.

I previously shot in local USPSA events. Lucky enough that there are two ranges within a 30 minute drive from my house that host matches each month.

I also did icore shooting with my wife since she enjoys revolver shooting more than semi autos. We also do target archery and my older son (6) does archery with us. Hope to get him and our younger son (2) into target shooting as well eventually.

My work schedule has finally settled down to where I can have some time for myself to go out to the ranges again for significant time.

I'm absolutely drawn to the challenge of precision shooting. I'm in the preliminary steps of figuring out what I want to do and budgeting out so that I can buy once cry once within my budget.

Thanks and have a great day,
Alex

Contact Cleaner

So Geissele recommends using Electric Contact cleaner on their triggers then using compressed air to blow excess off following this with clp. My question while probably dumb as hell is this, I can only find Quick Dry Electronic Contact Cleaner (QRC brand) Is there any difference in this and other Contact cleaners? Just want to make sure I don't screw up and expensive ass trigger or the finish on my DD V5. I know I'm probably over thinking this way to much but, you guys on here have some major knowledge and I'm here to learn.

Accessories Rifle Mount your Garmin Xero - McLeod Precision

https://mcleodprecision.com/products/xero-sled-v1

$89 shipped complete ready to use.

Machined from 6061-T6 completely in my shop here in Northern Arizona. Comes complete ready to use including the ARCA clamp. Graphite Black Cerakote applied for finish. 8oz weight without the Xero installed. .350" thick and very stout. The ARCA clamp is inset to prevent shifting. The Xero can be rotated slightly on the mount if needed.

Mounting holes are provided if you decide to remove my clamp and install your own. Maybe you have a dual PIC/ARCA clamp like the RRS BTC PRO. You can verify your clamps fits by measuring the center to center hole spacing is 1.1" (ARMS-17 pattern) and the width of the clamp (center line of holes to edge opposite the lever or knob is no more than 1.280" which is an exact measurement no fudge factor). This fits a pretty large clamp. The holes are tapped 10-32. Please reach out with any questions.

V2 update - added in 3 center holes tapped 1/4"-20 so you can thread in your mini Xero Tripod or anything else interesting. Also check out the Kestrel Mount which clamps into the existing clamp on the Xero Sled and now you have a great benchrest setup or for your other non ARCA setup rifles.

Please check out our other products as well! https://mcleodprecision.com/ Thanks for supporting our small business!

Kevin

Full details and available for purchase at
mcleodprecision.com

Kestrel Mount -
  • Designed to work with the Optics Bridge or any other universal mounting need for your Kestrel.

  • Includes a 4 sided ARCA on the bottom so it can be rotated 90 degrees if needed for your clamp orientation. Can also be hard mounted via a standard 1/4-20 camera style screw in the center or via 10-32 tapped holes in a standard ARMS17 pattern.

  • The grip fingers are designed to slide directly into the slots cut in the sides of your Kestrel with the perfect amount of tension. The rear of the Kestrel does not contact the back of the mount, preventing chafing.

  • Made from 6061-T6 aluminum in the USA. Carbon Grey Cerakote applied.

  • Includes the Kestrel Mount, (2) 10-32 screws and (1) 1/4-20 camera style screw.
Optics Bridge -
  • Clamp the Optics Bridge into your ball head and attach your optics, kestrel, range finder and wind flag.

  • Provides countersunk holes for common 1/4"-20 camera style screws to attach directly to those type of mounts on your devices.

  • 10-32 tapped holes set on a 1.1" ARMS17 standard pattern throughout, allowing attachments of clamps anywhere, top or bottom.

  • Full length, double sided ARCA rail. "Rotator" ARCA block included that allows a 90 degree presentation to your ball head. Very important for ball heads like the anvil-30 so the operating handle stays in the proper orientation.

  • The "Rotator" can be moved anywhere on the bottom of the rail for offset if you prefer all of your accessories on one side of your optics.
  • Made from 6061-T6 aluminum in the USA.

  • 11.9" Long X .4" Thick X 1.5" wide at 8.8 oz weight. Extremely rigid.
Xero Sled V2 -

  • V2 update - added in 3 center holes tapped 1/4"-20 so you can thread in your mini Xero Tripod or anything else interesting. Also check out the Kestrel Mount which clamps into the existing clamp on the Xero Sled and now you have a great benchrest setup or for your other non ARCA setup rifles.
Thanks for looking at the new stuff. Everything is in stock. Let me know if you have questions. (Fully Loaded version seen below)

Horse Power, Track Shit, Torque, Cubic Inches, Liters, Run What Ya Brung, Auto or Cycle

The green flag was....
There's no replacement for displacement is outdated.

I have a mild cam in an Olds 474 cubic inch motor. 495 ft lbs and 425 HP.
PXL_20220123_192654502.jpg

It sounds like a big block should. I am old school and just can't drag myself to put fuel injection on it. Would it help? Most definitely but I like carbs.
That said. I am not going to bash the young crowd with the turbos and the 4 or 6 mills. Hell, when the Grand National came out I wanted one. I had a 400 HP 355 in a Camaro at the time. It was getting smoked by a six banger and I wanted one.

Night Vision Guide TB 630 LRF Clip on vs Athlon Cronus 35CL-640

Good afternoon fellas! I've been eyeballing the Guide TB630 LRF and Athlon Cronus 35CL-640 for Coyote hunting and shooting heat treated steel for night shoots. Just by looking at them I can tell they are both very similarly manufactured but the specs vary a bit. It looks like the Guide TB630 has a 1920x1080 pixel display while the Athlon Cronus has a 1280x960 resolution. Now with the sensor resolution being equal (640x512 @ 12 microns) am I right in assuming that the 1920x1080 screen will be a lot better when optically zooming in? I'm still fairly new to thermal, I have a BAE UTM that I love and works great but I want to buy another clip on. Thanks in advance for any input!
