Reloading Equipment HUGE Lapua/Hornady/Forster .308 reloading bundle (Indiana) - $ Drop 05/31!

I’ve been sitting on this stuff for a long while, but as I’m getting out of .308 it’s time to move the reloading goods along! Please note that this listing may change as I find and add more stuff!

This lot is basically overruns, factory seconds, and rejects straight from the Lapua/Berger factory back in Mesa, AZ. At the time, I knew a guy who worked there that was able to get these before they got scrapped and he sold them to those who wanted them. The brass needs to be sorted and processed to weed out the bad pieces, but from what I can see I’d wager 60-70% of the brass should be good.

The loaded ammo may have been rejected for a variety of reasons, from not being sized, seating depth being off, etc. My intention was to pull the bullets, weigh and record each charge weight and store the powder in a new container, cull the bad brass and re-size/trim the good, and re-assemble using a charge weight of the powder averaged from all the broken down loads. I figured it would make for good practice ammo.

For the rest of the brass, I’d planned on the same sorting process to cull what’s bad and resize/trim the rest and use them.

I basically took retail and multiplied it by ~40% to get my price on the components (60% off retail). Based on what I’ve seen when counting and sorting these, there’s probably a 30-40% reject rate on the brass, so I figure you’re still coming out ahead by a decent margin. If you use a kinetic puller, you’d get all the 167gr Scenars out in near perfect condition.

I can’t ship ammo, it’s a HUGE pain in the ass now that UPS has closed all Customer Centers within a ~2hr radius of me. If someone wants the rest, I’d consider splitting it off in large chunks (primed brass doesn’t need hazmat), but I’d prefer to sell to someone local-ish.

I live in Lafayette, IN, and I’ll drive up to around an hour for the right deal. That means anywhere from Merrillville to NW Indy (headed to Avon the morning of May 27th), and Wabash to I suppose I could go a little ways into IL for a western trip. I’m also trying to head to the Sterling, IL area via Chicago this Friday morning but it would need to be a FAST meeting as I’m on a tight schedule. I’m *NOT* meeting up for 100 pieces of brass, so don’t ask.

For the entire bundle, I’d like to see $1100 $1000 $950 $775 $525 OBO. That’s WAY below retail even after you cull the bad stuff out. I’m open to reasonable offers for the entire bundle however, as I need this stuff gone yesterday, it’s taking up way too much room!

Help with new rifle $3k budget.

I just sold my custom 6.5cm built ~2016. I didn't want to sell it but I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. I don't know what's great these days in precision rifle. So I can spend a max $3000 for rifle, stock/chassis, dies and tools if needed.
I kept my Razor 4x27, badger mount and rings. I do reload.
I do not compete in PRS but have shot competition for close to 25 years at a high level. Mostly action pistol and multigun.
1. What cartridge? I want something that kicks less than a 6.5cm, efficient, easy to load not picky, can get to 1100 yards but this not likely to get used past 1000. Have factory ammo available or brass that is easy to find and doesn't cost a lot, last decent barrel life (2500 rounds?). 6GT ?
2. What action or complete rifle? I want something smooth and fast. Light bolt lift, effortless feeding and cycling. I do not have access to a lathe so the barrel has to go on with vise and action wrench, gauges, if buying action only. Would like to use unmodified AICS type mags. It doesnt need to be the best action, just something that pretty good, popular and has a good reputation.
3. Stock/chassis I like the looks of a stock, had the manners T4A and liked it, but I've shot ARs so long now maybe a chassis would be better for me. I like the ideal of adding weight to it when I wanted also. I'm not sure on the weight yet, maybe 12-18lbs without optic.
4. Barrel 24-26" M24 profile I guess. .5 moa consistently 5 shots. I know this depends on shooter load and conditions. Didn't know how to ask but I can shoot 1/2" at 100 from the bench without too much effort with the right rifle and loads. Finding the 2 together is the hard part. Hence all the questions and knowledge you folks have to offer.

How do you note your rifles current zero setting when storing a rifle?

How do you note the current zero yardage of your rifle when storing it between range days?
For instance:
If I take my 6.5 hottness and confirm zero @100yds then go to 600 and 100yds banging steel, when the day is should I pull out all the wind and elevation and leave it at 100yds Zero?
Or do you leave it at the 600yd zero or 1000yd zero? (which is my preference but does not account for changing wind)
I normally leave mine zeroed @ 600 elevation and whatever wind hold I had remaining.
But I was thinking that this "stored setting" is also related to the amount of wind on that day shooting 600, and the temperature of that day at 600 and so on...
So technically it would be more accurate to at the end of the day go back to 100yds with Zero elevation and wind (basically take out the environmental conditions that existed at range last time)
When leaving it at 600, on my next range visit I just do a hold under value to confirm yardage at 100 plate (disregard wind), then start shooting at the 600 berm.

So do ya'll just go back to zero each time? or note what yardage(and possibly wind, temp etc..) it is left zeroed for?

Kestrel Fathers day sale. Free 5700 with LRF

Hey guys,

Saw this while looking at LRFs... Just passing along what I saw. I wanted the 3K which came with a free Kestrel 5700, but that's out of stock. They have everything else it seems. Looks like I'll be picking up the 5K Sig instead so I can have a 5700 to sync up to it lol.

That's a pretty good deal.

I don't know why

Spotters Spotting Scope Setups - Show Em!

So I just got my first tripod and I'm starting to think about putting a spotting scope system together. I've seen a few systems that have LRF/atmospheric and NVG / illuminator together. Would love to see what you guys are running for that (bonus points if it works at night)!

Any discussion around use case for this type of stuff would be great too as I'm just starting down this rabbit hole. I've generally spotted for buddies while on my own rifle but want to learn more as I get into the 1,000+ range (starting a 300 NM build soon).

If I've missed a thread where spotter setups are shown please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, here's a pic to get things started (pulled from another thread, sorry don't remember who to credit)
