MDT send it level question

Just got the send it level. I have run it twice with no issues. Today, it started freezing up after 2 shots. The outer dots, either right or left would be lit and was frozen. Most of the time I could turn it off, then back on and it would work for another 2 shots and then freeze. I am obviously going to call MDT but wanted to make sure there wasn't something simple I am missing. The sensitivity is from the factory settings and the battery shows full power. I did reverse it as I am lefty, not that that should matter. This is on a braked 6.5 Creed so recoil shouldn't be an issue. Any ideas?

Criterion barrel brass pressure signs

I recent did a build with a criterion pencil 16" mid gas 223w chrome lined. Initial impressions were good, a quick borescope through the bore reviled no obvious defects. It has been shooting factory ammo noticeably better than some of my BA barrels.

The second range day out, I ended up popping several primers causing the FCG to get jammed up. Upon recovering the brass, I found 5 pieces without the primer (out of ~200 rounds), and almost all had ejector swipes. This was winchester/lake city m193. I also tried some pmc x-tac m193 and still got aggressive ejector swipes, but no popped primers (out of 50 rounds). Historically I have found the pmc x-tac to be on the lighter side (chrono 2950 out of a 16", 3120 out of a 20"). I tried this factory ammo in several other know good guns and zero issues with ejector swipes or pressure signs.

I had some really light reloads with virgin starline 556 brass that I used for the first shots in order to start burnishing out the reamer marks in the throat/lands area before making any accuracy assessments. No pressure signs using that ammo. "break in" process and zero pressure signs with that stuff. By "break in" I just mean getting a few hundred round down the barrel before making any accuracy assessments or starting load development.

other info about the new criterion build:
SOLGW BCG
adjustable gas
a5 buffer system w/A5H2, new sprinco green buffer spring

I'm wondering what to do at this point... The only obvious things I can think of is contact criterion or try a larger variety of factory ammo.

Triggertech adaptive vs diamond AR10

Can anyone with experience on both weigh in?

Whatever i end up going with will be installed in a seekins sp10 .308.

Gun shoots great, and i couldnt be happier. It currently has the TT single stage and its right under 4lbs. Not a bad trigger, but id like something a lot better and i prefer the two stage.

I like the idea of the .75lb first stage on the adaptive, but i like the overtravel and reset (listed values) of the diamond.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Suppressors Suppressor Covers & Accuracy

Stalked the forums off and on for probably several years. Finally joined, and my first question is likely rather stupid.

Running a Bergara .308. Got an Omega 300 for it a month ago, and I’m doing some handload work ups for it. Decided to try a suppressor cover, too, and after install, it makes me ask the question if it will potentially affect rifle harmonics?

Rifle Scopes Lightest midrange hunting scopes

I'm looking for a light weight optic for my new hunting rifle in 7mm mag, shots will be under 600 yards.

I'm looking at leupold vx3hd, but would like a reticle that is can use for hold over.

Other one I'm looking at is a trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 with mil dot reticle. that's 13.4 oz

Any other scopes that are comparable that I'm missing?
Thanks

510 Whisper Build Advice (Stock/Bottom Metal/Magazines/Twist/Barrel Length)

Hi all,

After my first and mostly successful foray into custom bolt actions with my 338 Lapua Improved build, it's time to start the next one. I have decided to build a 510 Whisper bolt action. I was wondering if anybody could help with some questions regarding parts selection for this build. So far, I have purchased the action, which is a Remington 700 footprint Long Action that supports 4.050" magazines.
  • Will 510 Whisper cartridges fit in a 338 Lapua Magnum AICS magazine? For my 338 Lapua Improved build, Fritz at Black Canyon Customs machined out the shoulder guides of my MDT 3.850" AICS magazines and I am curious if I would have to have something similar done for these to fit, if at all.
    • Is there any point to using 4.050" magazines that have a max COAL of 3.970"? I see that the 750 AMAX load on SSK's load data has a COAL of 3.620" and a standard CIP AICS magazine allows 3.740". It's always nice to have some extra room to work with, but if it is going to make everything else a pain, I won't bother.
  • Are there any chassis-style stocks (like the MDT ACC Elite or MPA BA etc) that accept 4.050" AICS magazines? I have not been able to find any.
    • If no chassis style stocks would work, what stock would you recommend? I would prefer to keep it at or less than $700 if at all possible.
  • What length barrel would you recommend? I am happy to SBR the action and go with a short barrel. I was looking at the SSK load data and they are using an 18" barrel. I think this is a bit long for my needs, as I was planning on developing my loads with Vihtavuori N110 and it is a very fast burning powder.
  • What twist rate would you recommend for a 510 Whisper? I see that Maker Bullets offers a 1000gr 50 BMG Subsonic REX and a 900gr 510 Whisper Subsonic REX that both have a recommended twist rate of 1 in 10.
Thank you in advance!

Rifle Scopes Blinded, Randomized scope testing

With all the vastly varying anecdotal reports of IQ between scopes, I think a blinded, randomized controlled trial of scopes would be very interesting. Because there’s some degree of objectivity and methodology in evaluating IQ, I think this could be very revealing.
Bias seems to be one of the greatest influences on individuals as far as I can tell. Whether conscious or subconscious, it can be hard to admit a $600 scope is optically close to a $4k scope.
Just like some people taste soap with cilantro or prefer different flavors than others, I believe vision is the same way. This may be obvious to some folks but it’s definitely not accepted main stream because people continue to argue to the point of insults (myself included 🤣) over IQ of scopes. In contrast, most everyone is in agreement that scope features are subjective, so no need to try and examine that. The test could be standardized to be blinded. It would take some effort but certainly doable. A way to make diopter, magnification and parallax adjustments without fingering the scope. The trial would need to include a professional eye examination and history as well obviously.

6.5 Addiction (Swedemoor)

Just had my .260 rebarreled in the 6.5 addiction and so far it's been an intriguing cartridge. I live out west so I was looking for a little more performance while trying to keep the cost down. So far this fits the bill!
I finally worked through fireforming a few hundred pieces of Lapua 6.5x55 brass so I loaded up a ladder with 140 rdf and RL26. The results were pretty wild. Started at a known load for this chamber with H4831 and went up 2 gr in .4 increments. Results (Lab radar) started at 3099 and got 3201 with the top charge! Had a heavy bolt lift but no ejector marks and when I punched primers they were still tight. 55 degrees out, defiance action and 26" Frozen Fiber (benchamark) barrel. I'll probably drop down in speed for better barrel and brass life but it was impressive to see those velocities! Hoping to get time this weekend to work on accuracy development!
I would imagine there are going to be a few guys playing with this cartridge. Hopefully we can get a good info sharing thread going for the Addiction as well as the 6.5 GWI/BJ-AI since they are similar.
