Hello all!
Years ago, I won a bid on 10 day safari, then before I could go, Covid locked the world down....a few times!
Finally got to go a few weeks ago; my rifle of choice was the q fix in 308 with a swaro z6i 1-6, with my back up scope being a bushy LRSHi 4-22 with the circle of death reticle.
Things I really appreciated about the rifle:
-Light weight- that mattered more every day!
-Accurate
-short bolt throw, allowing for quick follow up shots
-fed from pmags (hunted with a 10 rounder, had a 20 rounder in case of spicy time)
-folder!!!! Space in the vehicle was at a premium, and it was super low profile while in town
-safety was very intuitive, as a follow up from a lifetime of AR usage
-trigger- but I really appreciate a two stage trigger!!
The grass was the tallest it had been in many, many years, so shooting was close (less than 200 yards, generally) and fast- with a premium on breaking the shot as soon as possible as one step and they were out of sight.
Shot out of a ground blind, off the rack on the truck, shooting sticks, kneeling, standing and a tree, so a great variety of positions.
Between shooting run and guns and a great train up from a fantastic friend, using the magwell as a brace off of any of the above was a just fantastic feature as was the nimbleness of the rifle in general.
The swaro was/is a fantastic scope, the illumination was just awesome- the fix and swaro was just a great package for me at that time, at that place for that range.
The only thing I would have changed was to have doubled down on the lightness by using a proof barrel.
Ammunition was Norma 180 grain bondstrike, with multiple PHs asking what I was using.
Anyway, just thought I would share a few thoughts with the hive mind, thank you for reading!

It's been 24 hours since I finished the Colt Monitor and I'm bored. I have two new projects. The first is a Khyber Pass bolt action AK-47. I will be using the cheapest bolt gun I could find, in this case a sporterized Enfield Mk 4. I like the idea of an AK with a huge bren gun magazine. I have a ton of stripped AK parts, Enfield parts, and even Bren mags and parts. I also have a lot of .303 brass and several other .303's.

I currently in the works of switching setups from 5.56 to 6arc , gonna try to trade my NF NXS 3.5-15x50mm h59 with badger c1 mount w/accessories(cosine indicator , level, clif w/rmr plate and diving board) for a 6 arc upper if possible.
I will be with out a scope once I trade,
What scope do you guys recommend that fits the best bang for buck from 5-900 dollar range?

While going through some storage containers last night I discovered a complete Bushmaster lower (~2010 production), a stripped flat-top upper, and a 12.5" free-float handguard. It was almost like Christmas!

The Bushmaster lower was on a 20" HBAR rifle, so I'm not sure what spring/buffer is in it.

I also have an unopened Magpul PRS stock and CMC Tactical trigger group (single stage, 3.5 lb flat trigger) on the shelf.

If you were to build either of the subject rounds for a strictly range rifle, what length barrel/gas system would you use?

No competitions or hunting planned. I have a 6.8 SPC and 308 for that, if I wanted.

I reload but have nothing for either round.

I'm leaning to the 6ARC but have no experience with either.

Selling a very well spec’d Mk12 Mod 1 upper built by the one and only D. Wilson. At the heart of the upper is a 1:7 twist, bead blasted Centurion barrel mated to a square forge upper with Toolcraft BCG/PRI Gasbuster CH and KAC FF RAS. A Centurion gas block (tabbed & pinned), and Allen Engineering brake + collar are affixed. The upper has 300 rounds on it and obviously been rattle canned, appearing more used than it actually is.

It’s been 4 years since I’ve competed in a PRS match. Just getting back in the swing of things and have signed up for a match this weekend.

What’s changed? I’ve read the rules but I’m more interested in the gear that’s now available that may give shooters a competing edge.

For Sale: Staccato XC 2011 handgun chambered in 9mm. This handgun is in absolute like new condition, fired less than 100 rounds. Handgun is sold with everything that came with from Staccato: soft case, 140 mm mag, 126 mm mag, rear iron sight plate, rmr plate.
