OH NO!!!!

Gotta get started on the new Louisiana ski resort. Ski Cajun I’ll call it. Also gotta stock up on all those down stuffed parkas and insulated underwear. Powder gots to be optimized for sub freezing temperatures. Targets gotta start being painted Black

Cause, forget all this shit about climate change and the poles melting and the lefties lattes getting heated naturally by the planet heating up cause we’re HEADING INTO A NEW ICE AGE. :(.

Scientists just confirmed that Earth is slowly tilting toward its next ice age.

Experts have long suspected that changes in Earth's orbit play a key role in triggering ice ages, and now a new study has confirmed it.

Researchers from Cardiff University have uncovered a precise link between Earth's orbital cycles and past glaciation periods, providing a powerful tool for predicting future climate fluctuations. By analyzing deep-sea fossil records, they discovered that deglaciation—the end of an ice age—is triggered by a specific relationship between Earth's axial tilt (obliquity) and its wobble around the Sun (precession).

Meanwhile, the onset of an ice age appears to be driven solely by obliquity. This breakthrough explains why ice ages have occurred in predictable 100,000-year cycles and suggests that another one is due within the next 11,000 years.

While this discovery offers valuable insight into natural climate patterns, researchers warn that human activities, particularly greenhouse gas emissions, are already altering Earth's climate beyond its natural trajectory. Understanding how ice ages naturally occur is crucial for accurately assessing the long-term impact of human-induced climate change. As Earth's tilt continues to decline, signaling the start of the next glaciation, scientists emphasize the importance of factoring natural climate cycles into future climate predictions. The study underscores the need for sustainable action today, as decisions made now could shape Earth’s climate for millennia to come.

Chasing accuracy with proof barrel.

I just put together a new gun chambered in 6.5 creedmoor with some pretty decent parts. I’ll post a few pictures.

This is my first gun on a custom action and I cannot get it to shoot ANY factory ammo. I know this isn’t a huge list of ammo but some of it is high quality and I’d expect it to shoot. All of this is shooting 1 moa at best with most of it over 1 moa. I tried some hand loads I had from an older 6.5 and they also shot poorly but my SD was a 3.8 so maybe there’s hope with the hand loads.

Factory ammo I’ve tried
140 grain Berger hybrid target
140 grain eld match
140 grain Serria gold metal match
140 grain federal fusions
125 grain Winchester xp

Things I’ve checked.
-Action screw torque 65 front 45 back per manners.
-Scope ring, base 55 in lbs per ARC
-Rail 25 in lbs
-Head space is good with the go and no go gauges I have checked this multiple times.
-I’ve lightened the trigger to 3oz to try to rule out any shooter error.

Am I the best shooter, absolutely not but I’ve shot plenty of .3-.5” groups in my time. I got frustrated yesterday and cleaned the barrel and put the gun up and grabbed another gun of mine that I know shoots and shot a .33” group at 100. I’m going to work up some hand loads today with h4350, lapua brass, Cci 200s and Berger 140 grain hybrid targets and Hornady ELDMS. It’s kind of disappointing though as I had a Ruger American that will out shoot this gun 10/10 times with factory ammo.

This isn’t a bashing post by any means I’m looking for some solid advice as I had high hopes for this barrel.

Any love for the Zermatt Matterhorn?

Part of the fun for me is shooting different stocks/chassis; arguably it's the part of the system we get the most intimate with. I own a legacy AICS 2.0, a McMillan A5, and an ACC premier Gen 1 and I like them all. I've got my eyes on the Matterhorn, it looks comfortable and nice to shoot.

I don't shoot comps, I really just shoot in prone or from a tripod for fun. Anybody have experience with this chassis and how do you like it? Anything about using it annoy you?

Firing pin size difference

Just a random question. I got a Wilson combat barrel and came with a headspaced bolt but no firing pin but I have a spare Toolcraft BCG and was going to swap out the bolts to match the WC barrel. The Toolcraft has a smaller diameter firing pin hole but from the eye the WC bolt appears bigger like a standard firing pin will work. When I measure the diameter of the bolt holes they are about the same so it’s throwing me off if the WC bolt needs a smaller diameter pin but maybe I’m measuring it wrong. Seeing what you all thought if I needed to ordered a standard firing pin (I don’t have one on me) or will the smaller firing pin work for both? Sorry prob a dumb question.

‘Entry level Rifle Setup’

Looking to dip my toes into the bolt gun world after spending all of my time in the AR world. Looking for viable options under $3k that can either be built or turnkeyed from a reputable company.

So far I’ve got the list of turnkey rifles at:
- MPA Matrix Pro PMR
- Aero Solus Competition
- Seekins Havak HIT Pro M3
- Tikka T3X Ace Target

All would be in 6.5 Creedmoor as I’ve got 2 AR10’s already chambered in that round, and good factory ammo is readily available.

I’m currently leaning towards the Seekins because of the quick change barrel option, but I’ve heard there are issues with the HIT taking pre-fits if I ever wanted to change calibers or upgrade barrels.

Are there other options I should be considering? Is it worth looking to assemble a rifle with a $3k budget?

Match grade barrel fouling after 40rds?

Hello, I recently purchased my first "match grade" barrel to get more involved in long range shooting/hunting and I am having trouble understanding what is going on here.

I read a lot of people say they dont clean their barrels for 400+ rounds before accuracy drops off, and cleaning too frequently will wear out the barrel. Other reputable sources say clean every 30-40 rounds.

After i clean this barrel, i fire a few fouler shots. Rounds #3-30 shoot exceptionally well (sub 1/2moa 5-shots). Rounds #30-40 start creeping up velocity, and by round #40 i have gained 80fps and start getting pressure signs, the groups open up significantly

Should I consider the possibility that this barrel does not settle in with enough fouling until 40rds, try a lighter charge to get back to my velocity node, and then hopefully the velocity remains stable for hundreds of rounds before cleaning?

Or should i accept that this barrel requires cleaning every 40 rounds, and continue on. Thanks in advance!

24" OMR barrel ~160rds through it

Optics WTT Leupold MK5 7-35

I have a Leupold MK5 HD 7-35 scope w/CCH mils reticle, that I am wanting to trade for another 7-35x mk5 in MOA. It’s only about 11 months old, I picked it up because I got a good deal on it, but it’s the only scope I run that isn’t in MOA, and I’d like to just keep everything consistent. Does NOT include scope mount. I will throw in the scope chap and some dry erase turret tape.

For the sake of putting a price on it, let’s say scope and mount for $2200 shipped.

Iron Brigade Armory

I just had an old timer drop a gun off with me to help him get rid of it, its a 700 built by Iron Brigade Armory. He said he had it built and only shot about a box of ammo through it then let it sit in the safe, the thing is essentially new. Digging around on here and across the internet I'm having a hard time coming up with a real world value for this. I'm hoping someone on here knows more about Iron Brigade builds and their values than me.
