I don't know if this is a dumb question but would a rifle set up with a PRI forend and a Swan sleeve (like a Mk12 Mod 0) have a stiffer forend than a contemporary free float tube that attaches to the barrel nut?

I know most ARs that have a free float handguard that clamps to the barrel nut exhibit a certain amount of poi shift when going from shooting prone off a bipod to shooting off a bag on a barricade or a tripod (generally a few tenths down, in my experience) and that a monolithic upper is generally the answer but how does the Mod 0 setup compare?

Im not sure if this is the right place. I didn’t see a gear type subsection. I’m looking for another pack to take on my day long LARPing trips. My hunting pack is too big and my hiking pack is too small to carry spotting scope, warming layers, kestrel, etc. I’m looking at the attakpak website as I really like the fact that the belt is detachable from the pack as a stand alone unit. I generally carry my bono harness, smaller pack, and battle belt.

I generally play at around 9-12k feet and finding a good pack has cost me a lot of money over the years. Any recommendations in mind?

I ordered a custom action, and I'm just curious on your guys thoughts. The base of the bolt right in front of the handle is missing nitriding, and there is a scratch on the bottom of the action right where the mag would seat showing bare metal.

This is a new action, from a vendor. I don't want to put anyone on blast.

Not gonna affect function, however $1500 for just the action I suppose I had higher expectations on fit and finish.

I'm in the process of putting together a .223 AI "trainer" / "backup" gun for PRS - ARC CDG action, PVA 26" 1:7 barrel. What bullet should I be looking at? Ultimately, price matters as this gun is supposed to be a less expensive with longer barrel life vs. my 6GT competition gun. 77 gr SMK looks like a quality bullet at a good price pint. Any other thoughts?

I was hoping I could get some advice on a good starter optic. I am wanting to get into longer range shooting, mostly for skill development. I currently run a Vortex 1-6 LPVO on my 5.56 gas gun and grew up short range hunting (250 yard and in).

The rifle in question is an Aero Precision M5 in .308, 18", 1:10 barrel. Previously, my longest shot was 350 Meters. I'm wanting to develop my skills in the 500-850 meter range. I have looked at the Primary Arms SLx OPMOD 4-14x44 FFP so far. My budget right now tops out at $500.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
