Even us dumb white guys have figured out that signing up to be cannon fodder in some foreign land isn't the smartest moveOne has nothing to do with the other.
Foreign wars have rarely been about "defending our country".
Folks have finally figured this out.
When I signed on the dotted line back in 87, I didn't figure on a shootin war in the middle east. Still volunteered to go over there. No, I'm not real bright sometimes. They wanted me to be a truck driver. Umm no thanks. I'm NBC. Send me to an NBC unit (they call it CBRN now for you young guys). They finally said 'don't call us, we'll call you.'
Mostly I signed up because I'd just drank my way out of VA Tech and needed something to do.
Nowadays? It's LIKELY there'll be a shootin war somewhere. No thank you
