My printer prints this target far to light, i need to darken them up so i can see the bull and when i take pictures they show. Seems like i seen one of the lucky 7 targets with darker scoring lines.

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

TOP PREDATOR Sir: maybe we should change the rules a little. allow each member to post their score on each category up to 4 times during the month, but only in one posting, in a way, you can update and change your score 4 times during the month, post your best score, but only your last score will count in the comp.
The reason are that, there are times, i had posted score, then next week or some time later in the same month, i may have a better score. 2. one is more motivated to compete with one self as well as other members. 3. no need to wait till the end of month to post one's score because you can change in up to 4 times.
what you guys think?

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

that's up to you guys, it's your forum and comp.

however i would suggest that if you guys want to go that way, you can always go back in and edit the post with the updated score and / or picture of the latest score or target with maybe a note saying it is updated an leave the older version there in the event there was a short discussion about it afterward. this way if there was a short discussion, the commentor doesn't seem as if the comments don't pertain to the previous posting ('cause technically it wouldn't as it was changed and the original subject was wiped out)

the reason being - if there are say 10 shooters (for example) and i or someone else has to filter through 4 different updates (posts) for those 10 shooters, thats 40 different posts to search through and narrow down which post is the most recent, is it the only one, was a post missed, etc. etc. it could be a real PITA to administrate it.

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I get your point TOP PREDATOR, i think this shall be a honor system, you post one score, then later on, you edit it on the same post with a different pict and different score, and also make sure let everyone know it is 2nd, or 3rd or 4th edit, this way, as a mod, TOP PREDATOR does not have to police everyone and work to death. it may even encourage more shooters to try it out, not discourage them, but to push them to better themself.

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I'd like give my thought on the idea of up grading scores.

I really wouldn't be in favor of up grading scores as the month goes on. My reasoning is that all of us shoot at different locations under different conditions 99% of the time.

The scores we post are what we did that particular day with what we had to work with, and I believe we (as a group) view this as the case.

Some of us may have a great outing one month and a horrible one the next month. It's just part of the game so to speak, and our scores posted are more of a record of what we were able to achieve on a particular day under certain conditions and types of equipment.

Example; I posted some pretty poor scores this month, but to me it was the scores I shot on that day I chose to shoot them. I really don't feel the need to go back out and try to up grade what I did almost two weeks ago. I simply look ahead to what I can do in April, May, and so on, and stand by my scores I chose to post during the current month.

Just my thoughts.

Have fun and do the best you can in the conditions you have to shoot in. Never be ashamed of what scores you post as the score is (in my opinion) secondary to just getting out and having fun shooting in the SH Comps.

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Joe Sir: i know you can shoot, no questions about it.
i just want to have max amount of flexibility for everyone while it is fun game for all. I feel some times we have so limited # of competitors that if we can post update score, one can having fun competes with self.

guys just to make clear i'm not a moderator, i couldn't put up with half the whining and BS that gets posted up in most of the forums. i'd have a very heavy ban hammer, probably leading to my very own demise.

i'm leaning towards what joe was saying, but i also believe in majority rule so if everyone want to do the "upgrade" system, i'd go with it.

as joe was the guy that started all of this i really lean towards his opinion on it, and tend to lean to what he said in his last post. i too have had crappy scores, but i take my lumps for that day and prepare for the next month's comp. sort of like if you know you have a mulligan, you don't perform or focus the best that time around. i actually like to claim one day or two a month to go out and shoot just for this forum. but again, majority rules and if most agree on the "upgrade" system, i think it should be implemented then.

i agree we do have a limited amount of shooters that post up consistantly and perhaps the "upgrade" system may be the answer to boost participation. some months it's only 3 or 4 shooters, but then some months are 10 to 15 shooters. kinda strange as there are so many shooters that visit the forum consistantly. if one of these days everyone that posted a score in the last 3 years (hard to believe it's been around that long) coincedently posted a score in the same month, we'd probably have 50-60 shooters that month. now that's a competition were every point and X counts, and probably a shootoff may be in order. oddly enough we never had a tie for first place, come to think of it i don't think we have a rule for a first place tie if the score and X count are the same .

i was actually hoping that this would blossom into a heavy participant internet match, if that ever happened on a regular basis it think we'd be able to actually get a sponsor to put up a monthly prize to shoot for. it'd be a way for them to get some advertising (with Lowlight's blessing of course) and something for folks to keep shooting every month.

but in the end it is a friendly little comp that gives us a vessel to compare notes while we're doing what we do during the month, with some standards thrown in for continuety among those that shoot it.

if a majority rules either to have it with or without an "upgrade" system, i'll still shoot it and shoot it only once a month, as that too is an option.

i could toss in a poll on the April comps thread both in the long range and short range and put it to a vote. that voting button is actually pretty useful, when the L7 target and rules wher being established it helped out alot with the course of fire, and should be a good tool to use to get an answer on the "upgrade" system.

like they say adapt or die....if the vote is in April is for the upgrade system, we can make the adaptation to be effective in May.

Re: MARCH 2012 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I have always agreed with Top Predator when it comes to the issue of majority rules. A poll is a good idea I feel.

Also, TP gives me way too much credit folks. Top Predator is in my opinion the man who keeps these Comps going with his outstanding efforts. He certainly has my thanks and admiration for the great job he has done with this over the years. I respect him and his opinions very much. In my book he is really the heart of these Rimfire Comps.

Thanks Top Predator for the things you do for us my friend!
