FIRST LOOK: Bushnell had a solid hit with the HDMR scope and is building on its success with the introduction of the 3×21 Elite LRS. The LRS is essentially an update to the HDMR that Bushnell plans to submit as part of the US Army’s C-SASS program.

The major changes include 10 mil clicks, 30 more degrees of travel to the side focus system, a new zero stop system, captured turret O-rings, stainless steel cap inserts to prevent damage when unscrewing them for adjustment. The new scope will run about $1799. Look for more news at SHOT Show 2013. Bushnell also has 4.5-30 version coming.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Pretty cool. I would like to see an illuminated version of the original HDMR though.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Sounds interesting, however the base price is getting up there with NF. Personally I would take the NF any day over the HDMR, so naturally I would question how these would sell.

I know there are a lot out there who advocate the HDMR. I just think that for an $1800 option the NF F1 is just a small step away. I guess it really depends on what changes they make and how much they improve the system.

Well, I see your point, but until NF releases a higher mag. scope with FFP (without a significant raise in price), I don't think Bushnell is going to have any trouble selling these.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

I was at this event and spent the week shooting the scopes and seeing what is on the horizon.

The new HDMR is really nice and has the features everyone is looking for, Zero Stops, Ten Mils per turn, it was clear that BushnellnTactical is listening and most importantly reponding to its customers.

I don't think you can't say with the feature set and direction Bushnell Tactical has gone it couldn't compete across the board.

As a side note, the new NF when announced is supposed to add close to $1000 on top of the current F1 so the idea you are in NF territory is quickly slipping past.

+1 I've kept my money in my pocket hoping this would happen but I'm starting to think I'll have to look elsewhere to get what I want.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

That's funny because it's actually me in the green pants in the photo above.

Illumination is most likely not going to happen on the HDMR. There are other scopes that fill that requirement. The HDMR was designed for a certain role and illumination was not a requirement.

While it is needed for LE work and some hunting roles, I rarely ever shoot a match where illumination is needed.

The new HDMR is badass. Bushnell Tactical listened and addressed the demands.

Dang. I've been watching NF slowly creep up in price. Hopefully their prices don't go through the roof. In that case the HDMR would be a viable option, especially because as you said they are integrating zero stop and 10 mil turrets.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Is that a 56mm objective? Seems like the offset from tube to objective is a bit larger than the current versions

Yes, Bushnell and Tom Fuller are in the game, for sure. Based on current sales of the DMR G2DMR, they will be a player

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Anyone see the new 1-8.5? I heard lit BTR-2 reticle, 34mm tube, locking turrets similar to the HDMR. Any intel on release date?

Do you recall what reticle was in it? Or if the possibility of H-27 reticle was mentioned? It looks like the sticker on the scope above says "w/ IMT Reticle".

I hope the pricing is in the same ballpark as the HDMR.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Interesting! The 1-8.5, need more info. Bushnell really seems to be listening.

I got them to mount it on the JP .308 while you were taking glamor shots with the OBR.

They didn't have a bipod or sling on it, but banging steel was still pretty easy.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Do the turrets on the LRS still slide up and down to lock like the HDMR?

The sliding turrets is my least favorite part of my HDMRs. Wish they could find a better way to lock them or just do away with the locks completely.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Yes they still pull up to unlock. After using them a bit I have realized their benefit. They are quicker than some of the other locking designs and allow you to leave them unlocked.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Did anyone get a good close up shot of the 10 mil per rev turret ?
I'd like to see if the font size is compatible with old man eyes.

I agree the design is simple. I would just like to see a detent or something for them to pop into when they're up. I've had them slide down on me during shooting and it just gets a little annoying having to remember to pull up before making any adjustments when you're in a hurry during a match.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Lonewolf, How was the illumination on the 1-8 I think that might make the loopy mk 6 feel inadequate

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

I don't think you can really compare the NF F1 with the HDMR because the biggest difference is the reticle choice. I am a NF dealer and in order to get a NF with a horus reticle in not only are you going to be waiting close to 6months but its $2800. That is a huge difference in comparison to $1799 full retail which you will prob never pay. They sell for $1599 on Horus's own website.

I thought the illumination was fine (daylight visible). However the production model should be brighter than the version I shot.

I don't expect illumination on these scopes to stand out in the middle of the desert at noon, but I think that is what they are going for. I want my illum set so I can use the black reticle on approach, but have the reticle glow bright when I enter into a blacked out structure.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

For any of you in on the ground floor here.

Have you had a chance to see a 4.5-30 power model, or are these still a ways out?

I ask because I ran a 6500 in 4.5-30, scope was incredible from 4.5-24, but started to lose a little optical clarity as you rose from there. Not bad, but I would like to know how this new scope will compare.

That 6500 tracked perfectly and POI did not change at all from 4.5 all the way to 30 power, I was very impressed with operation.

They should put those lower profile turrets on the newer HDMR. I think the ones on the HDMR are a little overkill in terms of Height.

+1! What's the obsession with monster knobs?

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Those look nice. I just bought two HDMR's. Now I may need to upgrade. Just my luck.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Look forward to hearing reticle choices and pricing on the 1-8.

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Are they going to be available in FDE like the picture?

They are engraved pretty deep, so if you wanted to fill them with white, you could.

The R and L on the turret is crucial. I wish that was a standard. I dont have time to remember what i did.

Yes

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, (Glad I waited)

I just got the Bushnell 10 X 42 Fusion LRF binoculars (EXCELLENT!)

Now I'll wait a bit for the new Elite LRS scope with an H 59 reticle. I shouldn't need to spin those studly-looking knobs very much with that versatile Horus reticle.

"So many toys, so little money."

BTW, perhaps the higher knobs on the new LRS are due to the increased adjustment travel. No?

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

bushnell advertised price is much more than actual street price..

Re: Bushnell’s Elite LRS, 2nd coming of HDMR

Do we think the street price will be similar, say in the $1300 range with the G2dmr reticle. I am trying to decide if I should buy the current model or if the new and improved model is going to be the same price.

I think MSRP on the current HDMR is $1700. I'm REALLY hoping for a street price of $1,300. I just hope someone can confirm it soon enough.
