Me & mine have a training gig in central CA. From what I can understand on the Ca guvment page, unloaded typical long guns are no big deal, Pistols must be unloaded in a locked case/compartment- glove box excluded, but what about my DMR rifle?? (AR, a3 flat top, no bayonet lug) Is it a "assualt Weapon" in CA, I imagine it is so what are the regs on it??

Thanks.

I would say leave the AR home if you can. If it is a common lower like colt, dpms etc it would be a felony even with a BB. There is a list of lowers that are not allowed.

Also all guns in CA need to be locked either in a locked container or in a trunk not accessible to the passenger compartment. some claim the safe school zone prohibits even long guns...

It just takes one officer to make your life miserable.

Definitely google the Calguns flowchart. They don't mess around and LOVE taking your black rifles. There is no negotiating anything. If they find it, its theirs and then they decide what to do with you, i.e., how long to leave you in jail, how much your bail is, whether to drop it to a misdemeanor, etc. Don't risk it. Not even a Ruger Mini 14.
