I've noticed there's next to no data on this powder. I seem to be the only one shooting it. Today I shot in 94 degrees with a 103 heat index. It was hot. I was shooting 72.5 grains with a 208 amax at 3.625 oal. ( 20/1000" off lands. " I sighted in at 108 and shot around 1/2 moa or a tad less. After getting my scope reset I started the journey to 920 yards. Lets just say I was shocked. 19.8 moa to hit dead on at 920 yards. 3,015 fps give or take. 4200 ft/lb at muzzle and will journey well past a mile.
On another note , this powder is temp sensitive. When I started shooting there were no op signs. After 15 minutes I was getting ejector swipes. But it SHOOTS.
Rifle was a 700 5r 26" bbl and a hs p stock topped with a 20 moa rail and a NF 5.5x22x50.

Just thought I'd share in case any one wants some data for later on.

Nice. I think I know where some pp 4000 is. I will try it, thx

I use it on my 300wsm. Fast and clean, my progressive loves this ball stuff.
Pushin 190s at 3050. Has to bring it down a bit, they were goin 3100 with 65 gr but a few cases were slow comin out of the chamber. I use the 2000 mr for 308, that is fast as well. i love these PP x000 powders

Good info, thanks for sharing.

I picked up a pound of 4000 the other day. Not sure exactly where it falls into the burn rate, but guessing somewhere close to RL22?

Anyway, I'm going to see how it works in the 30-06 case, corked with the 208 AMax, and 225 Hdy BTHP's.

Is that a factory 300?
I'm in the market for a 300.
Thanks

Yeah. It's a SS 5r mils pec. 26" bbl. all I did was put a different hs stock on it , a Jewell hvr trigger and a brake. Great shooting rig. If your in the market for one I'd reccomend the 700 Police. I had one and it was amazingly accurate. Plus it's cheaper with a better trigger. The Police actually shot better than the 5r does

Which HS stock did you use?
I have the 110 FCP HS Precision Savage in .308 now.
I like the HS stock that comes on the Savage.
I just can't figure out the model number?
I even call Savage and they don't know it.
It is def different than the HS stock that comes on the Remington Sendero.

The 5r comes in a green webbed finish and has a thicker palm swell. The police is black and has a smaller palm swell. What I did was when I shot the barrel out of my P, I bought a Broughton 5c 30" finished and trued the action. I also had it throated for the 230 bergers. I also switched stocks. The P went on the 5r and the 5r on the new build. The only real difference in them is that palm swell. That's really it....

I had the same problem, there being no data on 4000. It is fast. I'm averaging 3070 MV with 73g behind 200g hybrid out of a 5R. I worked a load up to 73.5, which is where pressure signs began to show.

i know this is an old thread but the 5r and the police both have the palm swell the 5r is stainless and has 5r rifeling the police is chromoly and has standard rifeling and current production both had x mark triggers before the recall.the older police models had the 40x trigger and were tuned in the custom shop

Actually ( unless the 700 P stock has been changed) the palmswell of the Police is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than that of the SS 5R MILSPEC. I've had both of them, and the HS PRECISION stock was most certainly different on the 5R.

depends on what year of production every one i have seen has the same hs precession stock on it. the only difference is the 5r is black with green webbing and the the police is black. the hs stocks Remington used to use had no palm swell. like on the VS models and i assume the police models from those years had no palm swell but i have not seen one. a police model with no palm swell is a rare bird if you are shopping right now. the vfs line also used the hs stock but it was discontinued for the xcr line that uses the bc stocks

how many loads do you get out of ur 300 wm brass using 208 amax bullets?

Depends on type of brass and how hot your loading. I have gotten the longest "case life" out of RP brass believe it or not. I anneal every other firing and trim as little as possible. The primer pockets seem to hold up better. Norma brass is better case capacity and I'm working on my 5th load with some of those. I really haven't had a chance too see how long they'll last. I've got 8 firings out of some RP brass with the primer pockets loosening up but still safe to shoot. Winchester IMHO isn't what it used to be. The virgin brass has the shoulder a good bit farther back meaning its putting more stress on the brass and it varies BIG TIME from lot to lot on case capacity. But you gotta use what you can!!

8 is pretty good if u ask me I haven't been getting half of that with hornady brass it seems pretty thin... just bought some nosler because it was available and about to start up with that using a lower node probably to conserve the case life. Are u using the innovative tech collet die? ive heard thats the best die for belted mags but some were having issues with the "force" required to get case out of the die and bending the extractor head

You'll like Nosler. I know it's expensive but man it's nice to just prime and load. To answer your question... All I'm using is a lee collet die and a redding bump die when it's needed ... I've got all the fancy dies but this honestly gives me the most accuracy and doesn't over work the brass.
On the Nosler, if you push it , the pockets will go pretty quick. No need to beat the hell out of that brass. If you use a moderate load, it should last a while.

I am loading same with 70 gr of 4000. COAL is spec, spec, +.010, + 0.15, +0.20, +0.25

what aimsmall55 said has worked very well for me too

i have some winchester brass that has been fired 8 times and i am about to reload it again. trimmed once annealed once. i use the lee collet die and bump the shoulder when it needs it with a hornady die. i have noticed that when i bump my shoulder with the fl die my sd runs around 20 and when i collet size it runs around 8. i shoot the 208 amax at 2690 with 4831sc. so my load is not hot but still supersonic past 1500 yards at 4000'. i think i will try some of this 4000mr though
