Back around August 19th I stumbled across a post here about PTG making short action bolt in DBM's that fit the standard BDL profile (hence no in-letting). The post from kiff said they would be up the following week or something like that and I was curious if anyone else saw that or has any info about that? I did call PTG today to ask, but the women I talked to on the phone didn't seem to understand what I was asking about. Any info is helpful. Just curious if this is coming sometime soon before I opt to inlet my stock for an M5 profile.

Ok heres what he said that I went back to find.
"The real deal though is our new bolt in BDL unit drop in and go . I have complete Long Action unit on sale for Lapua mag , Ultra mag and Win. mag type rounds with Accurate mag boxes for $199. Just state the type of Magazine needed at time of order . Shorts will be ready in Stealth or flush cut BDL bolt in unites soon . These will use Accuracy International mag's and will be a nice 3.068 long magazines the longest mathematical mag that can be installed in a short Remington BDL footprint . I see folks always say , this unit must be flawed or of poor quality . Well I run the Stealth and PTG flush cut unites you buy on the same machines , using the same Aircraft quality material that I run Five other private label Detachable's That you all pay a lot more for . Ours are just over runs that I try and sell to make having a detachable affordable . Thanks Dave"

Exactly what I have been keeping my eyes peeled for. Looking forward to trying the new bolt in/no inlet style on my HS stock.

Flirtinwithdisaster , your correct , I do have a bolt in short BDL Remington Stealth unit . It takes a AI 4267-W magazine that permits a 2.950 OAL on any 22-250 thru 338 Federal this is the longest magazine that you can purchase that will fit in a standard short BDL. The other bolt in units are around to 2.765 OAL. I confused folks on a older post because I talked about these and the new Model 70 bolt in which takes the same AI mag. I have 500 Remington bolt in , plug and play unites on the CNC mills , they should be anodized , assembled and ready to ship in four weeks . I ran a 56 piece photo-type run and they sold in two days . I will be shipping the oldest orders first . Sorry for the confusion and long wait on the units . With all the reamers I make and the parts my machine shop builds it takes planning and time to get new products out . Thanks Dave

Thank you so much for the clarification. I will be patiently waiting for these to be ready. Please continue to keep us informed on the hide with updates if possible!

P.S. I sent you another PM.

Is there a pre order form or waiting list for these? Or some way to stay up to date on their release :)? Very interested on getting one too. Any estimate on price?

These will sell like hot cakes once the word gets out in the law enforcement world, I'm thinking of trying one for a demo unit myself once the price is announced.

I'm in for one possibly two depending on the price

I did send kiff a pm about possible pricing/pre orders so well see if he has any ideas yet. Ill definitely be patient in waiting for these and diligently watching.

Looking forward to these, I was about to order the Stealth and have my gunsmith fit it for me, now I will wait a little longer and hopefully order one of these.

Just to update...the BDL drop ins are listed on PTGs website and it says you can order them in October. (I hope they mean October 1st!)

I see on the website they list using the AE MKI MAG instead of the aics mags.

The AE MKI is the only width that will work with out major stock modification in a standard 700 inlet and it allows a much longer seated bullet than any other Remington detachable unit on the market . If you would like the double stack magazine then I make that in a M5 Stealth . I have also listed the New 2014 Colt Tactical Bottom metal that we are supplying to colt . Ironically it is the same inlet and perfect hole spacing and fit for a Remington M5 inlet stocks a mirror image to our M5 stealth with a different trigger loop . Its a high demand part for Cooper and Colt and it looks fantastic . Be looking for a over run sale in the near future . Thanks Dave

Dave,

Do you have any plans for a 700 long action BDL inlet DBM that uses AE Mk.I magazines?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE :D

We have a BDL bolt in long action unite now that will take multiple magazines that will feed every thing from 36-06 to 338 lapua . If you want it and you think its practical I will make it for you , what round would it be for ?

Badger makes a DBM that drops into a 700 long action BDL inlet but uses AI AE Mk.I magazines, essentially giving somebody a way to build a detach mag short-action caliber rifle (260/308/etc) on a long action without resorting to using AI 300WM magazines.

Well consider it a new Stealth Bottom metal . I will fill out a Job card Tomorrow

I ordered mine last week and was told to allow 4 weeks. Luckily I'm on deployment, so I won't have to stress over waiting for it to be delivered. I bought the flush SA with 5rnd mag, and an extra 10rnd mag.

The Bottom metal is out to color and the 2.950 Magazines are in from AI . Accuracy international is making me some custom Magazines for the short standard length 5 round and 10 round also.

Are there pics showing how the dbm looks with 5round mag vs 10 rounder? Not sure which one to get once it's available

Is PTG going to be transitioning to AX mag compatible bottom metal now that AI is starting to discontinue the older rifles?

Yes , they work in the colt tactical M5 Remington , so does Alpha and Accurate mag doubles . We machine them the same as the standard short Stealth M5 . Accuracy International pledged there support on all Magazines we may need old, new and customs to come. I just machined a few for a company that wanted to use 40 round Mini 14 magazines and side release m16 magazines, Freaking wild . Pics going up on the site.

PTG "bolt in" BDL DBM for Remington SA?

The reviews on Midway for this talk about requiring inletting in many reviews. Has the design been revised so that it will not require custom inletting any longer? I am looking to order one so please clarify for me if you can. Thanks.

ETA: "Inletting" might be a little more aggressive than I meant. Probably should have said, "lots of file work and fitting required."

PTG stealth bottom metal $75.00

I just purchased one of the described bottom metals for my 300 win mag. Sadly, I think my gun will be in the shop when it comes around, but eventually I'll be able to comment on it/how it fits.

Most of the folks that purchase the M5 stealth from Midway expect to just bolt it in a BDL. Can't be done. JUST as the BDL Stealth won't bolt in to a M5 inlet. Folk's got to know there limitations with a Allen wrench. ... Remember the M5 will fit the M5 inlet ( Badger type ) and the BDL will fit the BDL inlet . I don't think Midway explains that well enough , I don't think we have a clear explanation either . I work on that Monday .

Starting , Monday I will have a week long Veteran's Day (Week) sale on Remington long and short M5 Stealth bottom metal . It may not be on the Web Site or store site until Tuesday. I will let all sales staff know at 6: PST Monday morning . Its 75 Bucks and I will send 10 % of the sales to Wounded Warrior's . Last sale we sold 437 units and a percentage of that went to Chris's Widow . Thanks Dave @ PTG

Don't suppose this includes the colt tactical model M5's as well?

If you want to wait . I have 3000 on the machines but they wont be finished for 5 weeks. I was planning on a 90 dollar over run sale then .

I may have been confused. I need a direct bolt in for a BDL that wont require lots of fitting.

I need to call you to make sure I have what I need ordered.

EDIT: Called and spoke with your team, I did indeed order the wrong DBM. I ordered the M5 when I needed the BDL, I guess the BDL cant be ordered online yet? They got me straightened out and took good care of me. Should ship today.

+1 for PTG.

Just received delivery of a PT&G 2.950" BDL inlet bottom metal. Slips right into the BDL inlet of this standard B&C Ti stock that's been waiting for it. Won't be able to function test, as my barreled action is @ smithy. But, the fit is good!

How did you get it?! Its not online yet? And how much was it if you don't mind me asking.

Called last month to inquire about it, and the nice lady on the phone said I could pre-order and they'd ship when available. $129.00
Here's a pic in my Ti stock...

I called yesterday 11-11-13 and Ordered the 700 BDL drop in Combo with 5 round mag. Michelle said it would ship by Friday and cost was around $170

PT&G has updated their site with more detailed info.

Short Action "Stealth" Remington 700 2.950 Length Bolt In BDL Bottom Metal is: Part# N3861111
Magazine to use in the BDL DBM is: AI-4267-R Universal Mag

hat's off to PTG for coming out with this system, a no brainer to get one vs getting your stuff inletted for M-5 profile, just bolt it in, yes great customer service too, they helped me out a lot with my inquiries, along with kiff's follow ups here on the hide is outstanding.

i did the original stealth M5 profile before this came out. hopefully a few of the "AICS like / compatible" magazine makers will make a run of single stack AE style mags in 10 rounds to fit / compliment the bdl stealth.

is there a savage version in the future?

I have a Rem 700 5r milspec 308 with HS Precison stock with BDL. How much inletting will it need to make the "PTG Short Action "Stealth" Detach Mag Bottom Metal M5 Style" fit?

This one "1-N3861111 Short Action "Stealth" Remington 700 2.950 Length Bolt In BDL Bottom Metal " should just bolt in my BDL stock?

Kiff, forgot to ask, what are the torque specs for these new SA BDL's(N3861111)? I'd guess it would be less than your steel-based bottom metals, right?
