TacticalRifles.net

I somehow ended up on his emailing list a couple of years ago when I inquired about one of his rifles he was selling on GB. The finished product he puts out LOOKS pretty amazing, IMHO, and I keep hoping he'll get things turned around, but then another 10-15 posts turn up on this thread, and sadly, it seems he isn't able to do anything about the poor quality of his product. :\

holy shit, when I saw this thread the first time, I thought it was bumped from that one thread awhile ago where the customer got into a sort of legal battle with these clowns.

I can't comprehend the amount this guy charges for his work!!! 224.00 for fucking scope rings that are going to eat your scope's finish??? If it wasn't so damn unethical, and folks hadn't lost so much cash, it would be hilarious.

Shit, for 8k the clown could've gathered all the parts and sent them to Marc S to do the build (since Mark did that one build for him anyway, might as well get it right!). He would've probably still made money and he would've given the OP an extremely high quality build!

I wonder what this "Chimera" action looks like? Can you imagine the tool chatter? It's supposed to have chatter when there's machining involved, right Dave? ;)

The email exchange about the stock was interesting too. Stevie Wonder could see dude was lying through his teeth...

Good on you, OP, for posting those pics and identifying that atrocity he labeled a precision rifle build.

I wonder what some of our smiths here think when they see shit like that? At least you got your rifle firing greatly and didn't have to dump much more into it. If you paid with a CC, I'd dispute the shit out of that charge from TR.

Not to be a wussy but I think that continued sharing with friends and posting on forums is all that is needed to protect our community from a shyster like this.
Confronting him at the SHOT show is just gonna cause you grief. You want to enjoy the show and that could easily screw that up.
Share the experience with anyone who will listen to you while you are there. Maybe then this guy will confront you and open up a dialogue. At that point any trouble will be his and not yours.
If you visit his booth and he doesn't want to talk walk away. It isn't worth the headache to get into it with him in his "house".

I just want to inquire about his: build process, grounds for hiring an employee, return policy, CS policy, his personal inspections, and how many times does a builder have to F*** the goat to be fired?

Is that so much to ask?

You intimidate him Frank. He knows how many people you reach in this community and if you really chose to… you could end his little parade with a few short videos on his rifles.

Confronting this guy at Shot show would be as effective as confronting diane feinstein with arguments against gun control. Adam, save yourself the aggravation. There isn't anything you could possibly say to this guy that he hasn't heard, or that would put him on tilt. He's not gonna change as long as the naive exist, and unfortunately when it comes to guns, the well informed are a scant minority.

My friend got sold on this puke by an active delta guy he met at blackwater back in 2007 or so. Who was he gonna listen to, a fairly well informed guy like me, or some "high speed" operator who has a ton of kills? I don't know how true this guy's credentials are, but even if they are true, it doesn't mean he knows anything about the quality of a rifle. The best you can hope for is that a handful of guys that actually do research will avert a disaster.

Im not going to confront him.... I was just playing that up that we should show up like an angry mob with pitch forks. I have no dog in the fight other then I hate to see people get taken advantage of.
I am going to walk by and see what they have on their table, with my GA PRECISION hat on :D

You should get a shirt made that says "Tactical Rifles blows" LOL

Snipershide gear would be funnier.

We need to bring back the ford kid pissing on Chevy logos....except remington pissing on savage or ga precision pissing on tr.net.

get a T shirt made with a pic of the rifle and write what u think of them on it then walk up to them at shot show bring the rifle with to show everyone their shoddy work.

something like their name on top with the pic in the middle and on the bottom put I paid $8,000.00 and all I got was a lousy POS

That's an awesome idea!

The gift that keeps on giving. Hadn't yet hit the 100 round mark (and another 200 or so dry fires):

Bolt1_zpsfdb0ebc2.jpg

Came off and there was a gritty black/dark grey coarse powder inside.

Permatex to the rescue, alas:

Another 300 odd dry fires and it's still holding.

Are the threads inside of that knob stripped?

WOW...only read the first and last page but now I have to clean the puke off my shirt. Horrible situation.

Makes you really appreciate the smiths that support this site/shooting community and actually do it right the first time

Regards

HOLY FUCK! wonder what their response would be to that one "you're not supposed to operate the handle, its for looks you retard"

Did TRN get anything right on your build. Did they at least put the bipod on correctly.

It is difficult to say anything was done correctly. I suppose the one thing I might note is that the thread protector fits and is well blended.

This man doesn't put out shoddy work. He commits fraud. This man doesn't suck at his job; his job is con-man/predator and he seems reasonably proficient. He is not anymore a builder than those men asking you to email your bank info are philanthropic princes.

We are all marks to him. That's not a crappy rifle. It's good fortune. Nice bonus for those lucky enough to get any form of a rifle or parts back, I'm sure he knows the minimum to send out to keep his con running. The con isn't that he's good the con is he is a builder. He is coercing us into a discussion about his skills which on some level helps him seem legitimate. Shame on SHOT if they give him a booth.

Hey Moses, I forgot if you mentioned anything in this thread, but did you get your rifle reworked?

Trim pillars, re-bed, re-crown, new action screws, adjust mag release/bottom metal, adjust trigger, and some other adjustments. Scope rings saved for another project after I have a chance to lap them. It now shoots pretty well.

Yeah, I tried to make light of the situation with my friend that even though he got sold a lemon, he still has the components to make a good rifle. All I could help with was the paint. I don't think I really cheered him up all that much, and I'm surprised he didn't fuck Rooney up bad.

When is the SHOT show? I have never been to one and wouldn't mind checking it out. I will take the fall for all because this really pisses me off and quite frankly I dont give a shit. The shirt idea is great. I will get a couple made up saying something about TR. Ill check everything out there first before going by his table and maybe dropping a dime on his prominent nieve customers....this sounds fun actually. Time for some effort by all to put this guy under once and for all! This is UNCALLED FOR!

MosesTheTank, you truly are a tank. What do you do for a living? You're much better than I would be at continually keeping your cool about this.

Holy shit - that looks like a lot of finish wear after only a few hundred bolt cycles. I think my kid's watercolor paint would hold up better.

It's called TR.net proprietary paint finish, or more simply, krylon

Rooney's customer service is hands down the worst I've experienced. His workmanship is not any better. I feel for the op as this rooney jackass got to me as well.

The last thread about tacticalrifles.net was funny as hell, my favorite part was the butt hurt fan boy.

I'm sorry you spent your hard earned money and received that hunk of crap. Thank god someone who knows what they are doing was able to fix it for you! I really am surprised they are still out there ripping people off.

How much longer than these idiots at TR hang on? Gotta be getting towards the end of the consumers that don't know about them. Hopefully no more.

A Chimera is composed of the parts of three animals — a lion, a snake and a goat. So maybe a M700 action, a Savage Bolt and an AR15 mag duct taped to the bottom...

I would've took the rifle back and demanded my money! If you would have said no, I would have broke every one of his fingers! That way at least he would have an excuse for the shitty product he puts out!
