I've heard lots of 6.5 Creedmoor hate. Everything from is what newbs buy, to is too faddish, to its effeminate.

I personally love mine, legit repatable 0.36 MoA (here):

7086638

So.... what's the deal? It it old news? Is it past its prime ? Is it too popular / faddish?

sure it does, it's in your signature

""The internet is the best place to get loud, strong, confident opinions from people who have no idea what they are talking about. You'd think it were a gov't organization, or something. " "

the funny part about the 6.5 hate is only because it immensely popular, like most things in society

yet 8-10 years ago when 308's were still the rage a company called Tactical Rifles (yes the same one that is forbidden here, but before the disaster

TR was a guest spot on a TV show (history/military channel) with their new sniper rifle etc.

it was chambered in 6.5x47L, and it was crushed here the next day for not being a 308...stupidest thing ever etc

full circle:

if you shoot a 308 your old school and wasting your time, and if you dont shoot a 6.5 CM you cant hit the target past 200 yards.

funny how things work out...

Hi,

Because it sucks.....lol.
If you are going to run something as small as a 6.5 might as well make it a 6.5 Lapua Magnum as it predates the CM by about a decade or so.

Sincerely,
Theis

What is this "6.5 Lapua Magnum" that you speak of? Do you mean the 6.5x 47L? If so, it was only around 2 years earlier than the Creedmoor.

Now the 6.5 Remington Magnum has been around since 1965-66. That is a fun little cartridge.

Hi,

No I mean the 6.5LM....Lapua designed and tested in long before the x47. Never brought it into production though, due to projectile issues but modern solids solve all the problems associated with the design.

Sincerely,
Theis

338 LM necked down to 6.5 with a little taper change etc

Wish they would rethink that one and bring it out!

i can't believe the OP hasnt been banned yet for being a post whoring troll

You sound a tiny bit defensive, even reactionary .... :) Yer proving me right. :)

This post is my way of inviting ppl to tell me what's "better" than 6.5 CM. And its already working.

I free you from any requirement to read (and even respond to) any more of my posts. Go..... be free!!!!!!!!!! :)

And gun owners wonder why non-gun owners view them as passive - aggressive ppl who shouldn't be allowed to own guns..... Its a mystery.

if ya don't like my posts.... don't respond. Cuz responding with insult / bashing will just cause me to post more in response to that.

It was immensely freeing when I finally realized I didn't hafta monitor the entire internet to tell everybody when they did somethimg wrong / I disagreed with.

Hi,

Next thread options:

Latest updates while you were defending the almighty 6.5 revolution:

ZCO update its has better glass than the Hubble and more robust than a block of granite
Mil vs MOA for better MOA groups MOA is only good for hunters, if doesnt work with steel or paper targets
USA Made Scopes Everyone is confused, and it doesnt matter unless they use Schott glass...but is that still american??
Is US Optics any good I actually think this is agreed upon...dont wast your money

Sincerely,
Theis

Hi,

Now in regards to the Hubble.....are we talking first lens version of the Hubble or the repaired lens version?
Because first lens was installed backwards in the Hubble and made all the images blurry lolol.

Is Hensoldt still considered German even though they are building a warranty and repair center in UAE??

Sincerely,
Theis

It's a great little round and absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's no 308 Win, but hard to hold that against it.

I've owned both (including Rem 700PSS and M1A) . I presently own only 6.5 CM :)

I got nuthin' but love for the 308.

yea.
If your rocking the gay tiger you’ll have amazingly low vertical dispersion and people will want your body because of it.

Creedmoor is old news.
Has been.
Washed up.
Antiquated.

And what kind of moron would shoot 260 Remington?
Hey I resemble that remark.....?. At least I'm smarter than Remington.....

I'm a 308 addict, I don't hate the 6.5CM. I own one. I do take great issue with 99% of thous that shoot it (around here). Why, because before the 6.5CM craze most people at the range knew their limits. Now every guy pretends he's an ex RECON Rick, Sally SEAL, or DELTA Dawn using the justification that they own a 6.5CM and that proves it. They also say that anything with in a mile is dead if they are behind their 6.5CM.

Don't miss understand me. This has aways happened. People insecure about their service or lack of, trying to lie their way into range folk lore. It just seemed to go into hyper drive once the 6.5CM came out. Same exact thing happened when the 338LM came out. Everyone and their dog has a 6.5CM now and claim hits at will at any distance. It just gets old. Especially when you calmly let them talk on the off chance that they know something. Then after the hour long lie about the 10 barrels and millions of rounds through their gun you see them pull out a brand new shinny RPR, with a Redfield scope (last week at the range).

Again, I own one, sometimes I shoot it. More often than not I leave it at home because I don't want to be associated with the crowd at the ranges I go to. Plenty of great people shooting the 6.5CM. It is an awesome combination of low recoil, barrel life, precision, and available components for competitive shooting. I still believe that if most were honest with themselves and their shooting abilities/habits, they would have been equally served by an old 308.

Most the hate I’ve seen is from older school folks who are a bit sore that it’s amazing but they had 260s when they weren’t cool.

That and kids thinking they should punt a 140 at an elk at 900 because “it has the same trajectory as a win mag”

I have 2 shooting buddy's that hate it so much they each bought one within a month of shooting mine. Both long time shooters with 308's, 7mm rem, 30-06, etc. What the heck, you don't like them, don't shoot them. As far as folks being able to drop an elk at 1000 yards, plenty of those folks around, not exclusive to 6..5 cm.
As for me, shoots better than I do, easy to reload for, doesn't beat up my old sholder, resonable barrel life. That checks most of my boxes.

Shit. I am far from being insecure about my service. I fixed broked trucks, and when I have conversations and people thank me, that's what i tell them. I let others raise their hands to go out the wire in Iraq. Plenty of hands going up. Daddy Ssgt didn't raise no fool.

I shoot 6.5 and 308. Both have their uses and limits. There will always be space shuttle door gunners who think just because it reaches a mile, you can take bambi from that distance.

Also first Hubble lens was ground wrong...they then gave it a monocle so it could see.

No hate for the creed here. Some of the shooters tho.... Like the guys who insist on shooting F T/R with it cause it's on a bipod. Or the guy at my range who says it has zero drop from 100 to 300 yards. Never shot past 100 with it though.
It makes long range easier and has brought a lot of new shooters into the sport. I'm all for it.

Interesting thread. I have a 308 that I've been shooting for a while in competitions and am due for a barrel swap, soon; I've been considering rebarreling to a 6.5CM, but haven't pulled the trigger on it. I *know* this gun and my load really well out to 1000 yards, so I'm resistant to changing, but everyone tells me the 6.5CM is so much more forgiving with drop and dope.

nnnooooooo another convert. lol
if you are competing and you actually care about the position you finish in compared to everyone else then you need the same gear.
if you are competing for fun and there are a few other 308 guys and you only look at those guys as competition then its a coin flip.

OP, nothing wrong with the caliber. Just having fun. In factory ammo offerings really the 3 options that can be affordable and easily available in that class are
6 creed
6.5 creed
308

The 6.5 falls in the middle.

Now that I was serious........
I only run my last 30hate for trainer and my 260 UGSW with 2 spare barrels just sits in the safe and cries.

Lol I'm not the one claiming .36 moa all day long...

I can see reading the English language is not your strong suit. But putting words in my mouth / creating strawmen is.

"legit, repeatable" /= "all day long" Those are two very differnet things. Most high schoolers would be able to understand the diff.

NEVER SAID I could ALWAYS get 0.36" Also get some 0.50"

The POINT of this thread is to ask why the hate for the 6.5CM.

Discuss that, or MOVE ALONG.
