• Watch Out for Scammers!

We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!

Any clue how long it would “roughly” take once it gets assigned to an examiner?
I have no idea. They even ventured to tell me “I should be close” to being assigned. I asked why some have received stamps who submitted form 4 trust after me. She said they go to different groups and some work faster than others. So basically it’s a total shit show and there is little organization going on. You just get lucky or you don’t. Seems legit for a 1+ year wait.

I spoke to a local suppressor shop owner, who is one of the largest suppressor dealers in the midwest, a couple of moths back and he told me the government shutdown screwed up the ATF review teams.

He said the teams were mainly comprised of non-government contract employees, and that they transferred to “essential departments”during the shutdown because the fed was going to have to pay their contracts whether they worked or not.

I guess most of these contract employees did not come back to the review teams, so they had to train in a bunch of new people.

That in addition to the additional forms submitted during the shutdown have created a significant backup.

Gawd I hope so. This will be my first ever dip into the NFA pool. I want to be able to put my grandson on my knee and say **grandpa voice** "grandson, back in my day we were allowed to own a hollow tube." " It took a year of govt BS to get it but weeeeee would eventually get it" "too bad the liberals took over "

Our check was cashed about the same time. I think mine was about a week before yours. Hopefully we get ours back in the next month or so.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high, unfortunately. I have a can outstanding - check cashing date was 10/23/18. Seems like they're running about 11 months, right now, so I'm hoping to see it next month. You're probably looking at Thanksgiving, if things stay the same...

Form 4 Individual

Suppressor: Knights Armament MK11 Mod 0
Submission date: 9/15/2018
Check cashed: 9/25/2018
Approval: 8/11/2019
Tax Stamp in hand: 8/20/2019

One down, three more cans to go, lol.

I hope my stamps show up in the next week or so. I should be picking up my FNX Tac 45 on Thursday or Friday, and it sure would be nice to have a can to thread on the end of it.

I called today and learned that 2 of my cans (Dead Air Mask and Ghost) were just approved 11Aug, these were purchased at my dealer last year 6Sept.

So now to wait for the stamps to arrive.

My Sandman from October 2018 is still pending though.

Picked up my Dead Air Mask and Ghost cans and stamps yesterday. 348 days from purchase to pickup.

For anyone doing e-file Form 1 did you guys use Silencer Shop? ATF site? I did my Form 4 through SS was easy peezey....

Form 4 Trust
Rugged Obsidian 45
Purchased 8/3/18 from SilencerShop
Check Cashed 9/17/18
Approved 8/21/19
Suppressor in hand 8/27/19

I knew it would take a while, but damn that wait sucked. My only complaint is it seemed like it took several weeks for SS to even submit the paperwork. In the grand scheme a few weeks isn't that significant, but I wish the submittal had been more prompt.

Use the ATF e-file site. It’s super easy.
You can even do it from an iPhone although it’s little more cumbersome than using a regular computer.

Upload a selfie picture of yourself in passport format.

Order the fingerprint cards from the ATF website - they are free and arrive in a couple days.

Order an ink pad from Amazon.

Roll your own prints and fill out the cards with your info - mail it in after getting your cover letter email.

Wait 3-4 weeks for approval.

Can you explain the entire timeline? And how do you purchase a suppressor if you go about this way exactly?

Look up the difference between a Form 1 (making your own) and a Form 4 (buying one already made). What he was talking about was only for a form 1.

I hope mine is close. Mine was cashed same time. Still pending to the best of my knowledge.

Same. Two had checks cashed on 11/5 so hoping soon but who knows. Last one cleared at 290 days but going on >300 for these two.

Honey Badger SBR and omega9k got approved aug 30th 2019. My check was cashed Dec. 21 2018. Now just have to wait on stamps to show up. Super excited though.

Individual or trust? I have a cash date of 12/3 on two cans right now

How do you get approved date? Call ATF or does the FFL tell you? Wondering if I need to call someone as my form 4, individual, check cashed date was Dec. 18th 2018.

Just call 304-616-4500. That is the nfa branch. Easy to do and everyone I've talked to there has been really nice.

It's easy to call and they've always been cordial/easy to talk to. Just have your information available (name, serial number, and dealer name).

For the data point:
F4 Trust - check cashed 10/22/2018. Still pending.

I agree they have always been nice when I called, but they haven't been helpful/informative either. The only information that I have ever gotten from them is "it's pending" never gotten anything else from them.

I've only called once (and recently) about mine, and that's all I got, too. I didn't ask for contact info for my examiner, etc, though. There's another thread floating around with info about how to push on your request, if the timeline gets ridiculous.

My F4 Trust (1RP) for a Sandman S from October 11, 2018 was still pending when I called today.

Getting antsy. I’m shooting in a Sniper Match at Rayner’s next month and was really hoping to be able to use this can.... but so far the outlook isn’t looking real good.

If it's any consolation, I have received all of mine (actually in my possession, not approval dates) between 11 months - 12 months and 2 days of check cashing, most recently 2 that I received in July. I am using a trust with only me on it. So don't give up hope yet.

I had a correction letter on one of my purchases due to an incorrect serial number.

It was probably a week or two for the delay.
