Commander of the CVN Roosevelt relieved....

Maybe read the Secretaty of the Navy's statement I posted. Apply critical thinking to encrypted communications. I won't hold lack of military experience against you. I know "the bad orange man", but I think you're smarter than that.

Lack of military experience? Where did you farm that assumption?

I read the statement. He sent the letter over unsecured email, solid infosec/opsec violation if the information was to a level warranting security. Ain’t the first, or last, time someone sent the wrong shit with the wrong creds. We don’t know who the 30 addressees were. Many seem to be jumping to the conclusion that he emailed it directly to the press based on the “outside chain of command” statement. The recipients are not yet defined, just a bunch of assumptions in this haven for conspiracy theories, is my point. His violation could just be that he inadvertently sent secret or higher traffic over the unsecured network. Could be the “violation” they used for him sending the email to every swinging dick up to, and including SECDEF and commanders of them Pacific fleet subordinates outside his own 7th fleet? It could be he simply pissed in more than one bowel of cornflakes.

I’m not calling this Captain a hero, just saving my judgement for when actual data is released... if ever.

Since when does the opinions of a bunch of immature, uninformed, junior enlisted personnel matter?

Almost none of them possess the knowledge or judgement to understand WTF is going on.

I've been there and done that. Have you?

I miss the days when if you looked at a picture of a bunch of sailors on a ship they would look like sailors ....

Your jargon may be misleading.

If you read the statement he was relieved because the information conveyed in the letter didn't match up to information conveyed over secure phone. The "letter" could have just as easily been sent in a daily SITREP or conducted over secure voice comes. Loss of confidence because of his actions and the affect on crew discipline.

SECNAV left the opinion of who leaked it open.

I'll also leave Hillary's server out of it because if it had been anyone else they would have been in prison for forwarding .gov email to an outside server.

I'm a former US Navy officer. Graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Graduate of the US Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program. Qualfied as a Surface Warfare Officer on a frigate where part of my duties were to act as cryptographic material custodian. And served on an aircraft carrier for two years as an engineering division officer and Propulsion Plant Watch Officer.

I think I'm more than qualified to tell you that you don't know shit from shinola, that you need to stay in your lane, and that you need to just shut the fuck up before you further embarrass yourself.
[/QUOTE]

Mm he might be out of his lane but I’m right in it. I’ve dealt with way to many Naval Academy shits who stroll down to EOS and think they know how to run a Naval Reactor and are crippled when the drill team walks down and the PPWS leaves you in the dark to expose you. Good job to you for passing PNEO after it’s jammed down your throat Sir, when it pertains to the men and women onboard Naval ships I assure you, by your own context you lack any ounce of creditable leadership respect. Your accolades don’t mean shit, it’s how well you trained and inspired change in your men and women. Keep banging your ring and how awesome you are and what you did, it speaks volumes about your leadership style you put yourself first before what your Sailors did in RX Dept.

If course I’m outside my lane. I don’t need to tout my prowess amongst people on the web to garner authority on a subject. You say you don’t give a fuck about what you did in the military, yet you expect others to. If not, why would you stroke your ego so vehemently for us? I’m clearly out gunned by your overinflated self worth. Obviously you are upset by this, and I get that. It almost seems like you know this Captain, or his reputation. He lacks something needed to hold command, yet in the aforementioned ego stroking, you didn’t mention holding command of a ship, let alone a carrier, yourself. So what does that say about you? Bitter he was presumably fast tracked while you were passed over? Come on man get off you pedestal, you’re just another former nobody gives a fuck like many in this world.

And, yes, you got me there, Ring Knocker.

You know nothing about me, my leadership style, my technical knowledge, or really anything else; chief.

Those sailors cheering on their disgraced CO are clueless and the good of the service come way above their feelings, or yours for that matter.

So go back to the goat locker to watch movies and drink coffee.

You've been schooled by several here already. Why do you insist on commenting on something you know nothing of?

How many commenting on this thread have spent time in berthing aboard a Naval Vessel?
How many have used the head on a ship?
Taken a shower on a Navy ship?
Stood in line in a narrow passageway waiting for chow, or a chance to hit the ships store, or the laundry.
This is a nice, roomy berthing, the ships I was on were far more cramped.

That is pretty roomy compared to my berthing I was in... LSD-52 USS Pearl Harbor.

I’m just commenting based on conjecture, assumptions, suspicions, rhetoric, and down right mindless dribble. So pretty much par for the course around here. The difference is, I don’t actually believe the bullshit I spew.

So, what’s your lie?

He would only be in the goat locker if given permission. Sure wouldn't have been kicking back, watching movies and drinking the coffee there.

For us non military people was that a good send off or were they dissing him ?
I’m military folk and I still didn’t know the answer to this... it’s different than you think. My only concern is my PSG, he makes or breaks my life. And my CO. But that’s beside the point ?

This San Francisco connection caught my attention.... (Captain Crozier's home town and the San Francisco Chronicle.)
Online Extra: LGBTQ Agenda: LGBT people may be at higher risk from COVID-19

https://www.ebar.com/news/latest_news/289526

Factoid:

San Francisco was the FIRST in the USA to issue a "Stay-at-Home Order" on March 16th.
San Francisco, Oakland and Hayward, Calif.: The San Francisco area has the biggest proportion of LGBT residents in the country, weighing in at 6.2%

I'm going to go with the Navy on this one. The commander should have kept his shit within the chain of command and if it was related to the mission capability of the ship it should have been classified and not sent to the media or other sources outside of the chain of command, period.

Do I think the Navy was slow to react and not taking the problem seriously at first, Yes.

Do I think the Navy was initially not as interested in correcting the situation as it was in keeping that carrier on station? Yes.

The hard work of being a swabbie officer at the Pentagon began when they had to get together in some meeting of jagoff officers and figure out how to rearrange their schemes and dreams to get the Roosevelt's mission covered by other ships. That's hard work and it is far easier to say,"fuck those guys" and leave them out there. The crew is mostly young and healthy, the virus would have probably infected half the crew and maybe killed 50 if left untreated. In the eyes of a Pentagon shithead with dreams of glory, the ship is still fully mission capable with 1% casualties. No reason to pull it off station.

And since the military is still packed with Obama/commie officers at flag level, an incident on a carrier that kills 50 sailors would greatly embarrass the president and all but insure a political appointment under a Biden/Clinton White House.

If the Captain would have used his discretion and re-routed to Guam without their approval for a quarantine in proximity to an American territory with major air services and medical facilities available to him.............................they would have canned him anyway. Whatever happened, I think the powers would have fired this guy and blamed him for the problem, that is the Navy way.

Fixed it for you oh, 308pirate.

A) The captain of an aircraft carrier is not a flag officer. He's a Captain (O-6). Flag rank starts at Rear Admiral (LH) (O-7)
B) Crozier DID have a flag officer just a few doors down to discuss this situation with: the carrier strike group's commander who happens to be a Rear Admiral and uses the carrier as his flagship.
C) Crozier sent that idiotic message/e-mail WITHOUT first discussing it with his immediate operational superior (see B above). In doing so he demonstrated extremely poor judgement. Sound judgement is a very important part of fitness for command.

And now, Acting SECNAV lays it our hard for the TR's crew. As it should be

A whole bunch of you people presume way too much and you are way the fuck outside your lane. Just like the fucking idiot crew cheering on their fucking idiot captain.

It's an aircraft carrier. They have airplanes and helicopters on the thing.
There's at least one place that could be used to quarrentine. If that was insufficient you put the shit on a Helo and send them to port. There's plenty of support ships in the area and this dumb fuck couldn't deal with a few sick people. Not sure I would want him to be in charge of the Christmas party.

This is the point this entire incident revolves around and cant be separated from.....

"Modly said, adding the letter penned by Crozier had “sensitive information" regarding the condition of the aircraft carrier."

Its got to be at least TS if it involves ships operations readiness. Especially a carrier.

Five bucks says leftists in congress with demand the captain be given the Congressional Gold Medal or some other award of socialism for his heroism in betraying the entire DOD and refusing to follow even the most basic measures of operational security. Or maybe he is retiring to run for congress in California? Either way, he was entirely to dramatic in his portrayal of his problem.

Don't they teach OPSEC to Navy officers?

Much like anything and everything.

I am still waiting on russia and china to release reports on military number of infected...and how the virus is impacting strategic assets...

Should be any day now.

I don't understand why SECNAV is on an apology tour.

1. He was right
2. When you're right, stand your ground regardless of the cost

He made the mortal sin of imposing "accountability" and "standards".

Cant have that in a world that functions on "feelings".

I wonder how China "feels" about infecting the world?

It was a mistake for SECNAV to apologize, and the form of his apology reflected badly on him and further damaged his reputation. I hope he doesn’t mean to ever hold a position for which he would require Senate confirmation.

He only apologized for using the words "naive" and "stupid".

I think this Capt is lucky in that they were giving him a slot to retire from.

The real accountability should have been prosecuted through UCMJ and the facts of the case are he would have been convicted and much more harshly penalized.

Oh, no the temp Sec Nav used harsh words and hurt someones "feelings" that is becoming a bigger crime than that Capt Freakout pulled.

What would you prosecute the captain for? Sending FOUO information via email, and including too many people in the distribution list?

Regardless of who is right or wrong if the SECNAV warrants a national obituary, the only thing he will be remembered for is this.

Sending FOUO information via email, and including too many people in the distribution list?
You're so far out of your lane that it's not even funny any more.

Tell us admiral, how many movreps and sitreps have you ever composed, classified, encrypted, and transmitted.

We're all dying to know of your operational history.

Odd that Navy men are so split on this.

I’ll bet also in your haste you think I’ve taken a position on the firing of Captain Crozier. Which I have not.

Silly Navy, still can't get out of their own fucking way.

And projected movements of forward deployed aircraft carriers is not FOUO. That information was in that letter.

I haven’t read the letter. I keep away from anything that might be potentially classified. I’m relying on news reports that said readiness implications were mentioned but not in detail.

And projected movements of forward deployed aircraft carriers is not FOUO. That information was in that letter.

You must be wrong. Admiral Scott (who hasn't even read the msg) told everyone is FOUO. I bet he doesn't even know that FOUO isn't a classification level.

That FOUO isn’t a classification is the point of FOUO.

I like how spun up you get about everything. It’s amazing you had a nuke slot in the Navy, both of the people I knew that passed that interview were quite stable.
