I personally can understand the want for a filter on the “New Posts” section, due to the volume this site sees the 10 pages only goes back a few hours. However if you could filter out some of the stuff you didn’t care about then you could get it to go back farther and not miss as many of the posts you actually want to read.

I discovered Sniper's Hide via a Bear Pit thread that showed up in the top results on Google search. I had been browsing around for ways to increase 2A activism efficiency by using modifiable email templates and letter blanks that can be custom addressed to their recipients, yet easily shared and posted for others to print/use/send... A Bear Pit thread popped up in one search and it took me about 2 minutes of perusing before I was like "wow, this site is awesome, how come I haven't stumbled upon it before?"... Within the next minute I was registering my account...
I found SH Googling the difference between MIL and MOA when I got here I realized there was millions of others with the same question....:) :):)

I basically would like to be able to turn the political side off if I don’t feel like reading it.
You can it's very easy you see that button on the left on your mouse don't push it when the pointer is highlighted on any thread that may and or is likely to contain politics......I will give you a hint that would be most threads in the.....BEAR PIT.

See you had a filter all along and didn't even know it..... :)

You dumbasses insulted lady gaga. So now the thunderdome has padded walls and feelings police, congratulations. Now please don't insult $1k bipods and .22lr snipery rifles...learn from your mistakes fools.

4 pages... Crazy world we live in. I like the "pit", and you guys...Can I have a hug?

Problem is it isn't something somewhere. It is about childish behavior on this board. Bear Pit is the only place on this forum where politics and current events can be discussed. And some of us would like to have a grown up discussion about the news. But when the same people come in and start insulting members because they have different views (Hey! Doesn't the left do that too?), it gets old fast. Especially when they toss out hyperbole instead of facts, or just keep the insults going.

Lowlight mentioned that a paying subscriber canceled over white supremacy shit. I'll take it a step further. How many like me are NOT paying because I do stay away from the board for days because I've decided going into the bear pit is not worth it. Why should I or others pay for a subscription that more days than not putting up with childish behavior just because I expressed an opinion?

On what planet does that holier than thou shit actually play?

Such an easy answer. Don’t “put up with it”! Pointing out that “the left does it too” is an insult? I could build a castle with the amount of sand in your vag.

This sounds a lot like monetary extortion.
A solution, block those posters...

Perhaps its time to call-out who "they" are.

Much like we were asked by HMFIC to do with leftist trolls....?

Funny, out of curiosity, I went a looked to see how many people I had on my blocked list. I was amazed. I had zero. Hmmm, and there are some real pricks here.....

Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning; If I don't like something that someone is saying, I move beyond it, or, I engage. If I engage, I will provide spirited dialog and/or the occasional insult, if I deem it deserving. Oddly enough, apparently, I have "deserved" the same type of treatment from others in the past. Weird, I didn't think other people were entitled to opinions, only me. I guess I didn't know my skin is as thick as it is.

You're jousting with windmills. If you don't like what is being said, just move on. The only person that is qualified and justified in making the decision of whether something "harms" the Hide is the owner. We're just passengers on his bus. I'm fine with that. This is not rocket surgery.

I think you might want to rethink that long whine there.
It pretty much comes across as "I'm stomping my feet because when I say things others don't like they reply back with things I don't want to hear. Please shut them all up so I never get my feelings hurt and then maybe I'll consider paying you something... probably not I'm a cheapskate freeloader anyways".

YOU can easily just ignore the bear pit entirely and not have your feathers ruffled at all.

Currently being a paying member doesn't change anything about the Bear Pit.

The big value in signing up for the membership is access to the training videos which are a goldmine of information and an amazing value which you would be well advised to take advantage of. You could probably spend over a month just staying in the training forums and learning.

A year worth of being a site supporter is probably less than the savings in ammo you will get from getting on target and on skill quicker without needing to waste as much time and ammo figuring it out from trial and error.

You also get access to the PX which is a great place, free of commission charges, where you can buy and sell gear & get good deals or get funds to upgrade your stuff.

Maybe if you stopped complaining and went and signed up for the online training / Site Supporter, and spent a month or so going through all the training videos, trying everything out yourself, reading all the posts and threads and such, to improve your shooting ability, you wouldn't be nearly as worried about what goes on in a clearly labeled mosh pit that is enter at your own risk.

Just saying....

If this was directed at my comment, to clarify ...4 pages of what would seem a problem of personal responsibility or rather accountability. One chooses to engage, yet feels it's someone's else responsibility to maintain civility or decorum. I like the discussions, sometimes they are enlightening and entertaining. Some threads I simply do not engage, problem solved. As to the issues of free speech and hate...well, it would be nice if some would show restraint. Again, do not engage..."those convinced against their will..." I find the other members, both in support and disagreement, do well to highlight our own stupidity. If fig meant I was being a sanctimonious ass.. Well, let me attempt explanation. I genuinely find this forum educational and entertaining, as well as its members, even though I might sometimes disagree. In truth...I like the memes. The hug comment was an attempt to highlight today's emphasis on "feelings? I'll take wisdom and clarity over my hurt emotional state 100%. I support Frank to do as he feels necessary, until I don't. Then, I will simply go elsewhere or not. Simple. I was quoted and responded to earlier in what was intended as lighthearted humor. I don't even have a German Shepard...If this was not Fig's aim...Carry on

This is what gets me, people bitch about the bear pit. Nothing says you have to click on it. I think people just like drama.

Doc
It's not just what we hear (read). It's what's being monitored, by whom we do not know, and Frank getting calls from certain agencies asking him to explain himself.

If you like guns, in all probability, you don't like Joe Biden. If you didn't like the election results, you're perfectly welcome to express that. When it crosses lines like, "You're/We're gonna do something...(that isn't within the bounds of peaceful change)," the attention spectrum goes up. Even if it's an insinuation of any kind of violence, it ramps up the buttscope on this place. We don't want a buttscope up our ass, so speak up that you don't like the current politics, but don't come up with less than legal solutions and post it here.

That's everyone, not just you guys. You make a point about hurt feelings, that's what the Bear Pit is all about. Reaching out beyond the forum is pretty much a no-fly zone.

Here's my take, since I'm coming late to the party.

@lowlights house, his rules period. We follow his rules, don't shit in his bed or its time for bancat or whatever else he feels is appropriate. If anyone doesn't like it, tough shit.

But look at it this way, we have 1 million users here now. Assuming most are here for legit reasons, that should be 1 million pro 2A voices with one loud and clear message "don't fuck with our guns". But Ill throw out three letters to prove my point... N R A... Love em or hate em, doesn't matter. Support the organization you choose but don't bash someone if the support them. But some people can't help but yell kicking and screaming about how bad they are.

If ever in our history their has ever been a time for all of us to look beyond petty differences and come together with a single pro gun voice, now is the time.

(and I threw a bone in there for all our grammer nazis)

Funny thing is the owner sees there is a problem and is trying to fix it. Go back and reread what he has written in this thread. And here we are as members on page 4. Some are offering what they see as the problem. Some don't see a problem. And others are providing examples of what the problem is. It is one thing to use an occasional insult in good spirit is a discussion/debate. But some people here use them as their only debate tool. And that gets old fast. So the ignore feature is nice.

Well, there's the thing......Unless someone tells me otherwise, I don't engage in the kind of dialog that Frank is (rightfully so) concerned about. I've never been banned or even received a warning, so, I "think" I'm still/continuing to walk on the right side of the line. As far as anyone else ? I am but one passenger on this bus and I have no authority to do anything beyond what any other normal user has a right to do. In other words, I can't ban anyone, only the Mods can. In that sense, my hands are tied, so I'm not going to worry about it.

And, as far as anyone "getting on a list", you, me and everyone else are on at least one (probably many more) list(s). It happened with your first account creation/post on any firearms related Forum. Or, as likely, any gun related purchase that you have made via the Internet, regardless of payment method.

You're not wrong about "being on page 4", but, I'd suggest that you tally the number of your own posts. Then, contrast that with the realization that you are but one more user, just like me and everyone else. That's why I don't have anyone on ignore, I just move on.

Not directed at BTJ.

I do not believe that this:
I have a solution because you guys are out of control with the political hatred crap

You don't realize not controlling your first will cost your second and I have saved a few of you from yourself a couple of times.
,is at all meant as a pean to the insulted and butthurt who don't like how unpopular their opinions are in the shooting community. He did not write that in some sort of code. He's not talking about your feelings or that you've been insulted! GTF over yourself. He's talking about actual posts that were racist (not micro-aggressions or some progressive bullshit) or contained actual threats of violence. They get removed and people get banned, but it makes their shit HMFICs shit, and that's the problem. Pretty straight forward.

Not that I even pay attention to someone insulting me on the internet, or even care in the slightest about some random person's "feelings." I'm sure I've stomped people who took it very personally and now hate me. I take comfort in that I am nearly totally oblivious to that fact.

But you came into the pit to say burn it down?

I’ve seen that on TV.
People get mad about something that happens somewhere - so they burn their own neighborhood down!

If you've spent any time looking at my posts you'd know that I in fact post in the pit on occasion. However, I can control myself and follow site rules.

And, I'm totally fine if Frank obliterates the pit. In fact I think it would be a fun experiment. Get rid of the pit and see what the trend of "Reported" posts look like. I won't loose sleep. You?

I have a better experiment "Count" I will pay you and your pal "Irish" $25.00 cash each to stay the fuck out of the Pit for all of 2021.
Give your word and PM me your Addy. Thanks in advance.

If you all don't believe people are being arrested for posting shit, that is your issue, not mine

I know how many times I have been contacted, I know who I have checked, and I know how many times I have said, Yes they are here, and...

Wait for it,

I hate to break it to you all, people can and are being arrested for posting stupid shit, so enjoy your bubble.

Not everyone is a high level poster, this site has grown in the last nine months by 150%, you can act like you know what is going on with everyone, but tell, we just crossed 1.1 MIllion Unique Users in the last 30 days, how of those 1.1 Million do you know

Maybe a couple of you should get together and start your own site and see how easy it is, let everyone "Vent" to their hearts content and see what happens, they tools they have today are chilling, if you think you won't get caught, LOL good luck with that

fucking tools

I pay for online training, browse thru it every once in a while, but I spend most of my time in the bear pit. I wouldn't cancel it if the bear pit went away or had a significant reduction in posts but I also wouldn't spend as much time on the hide. I'm sure my employer would appreciate it.

i just open the forums menu and open up the equipment, sem-auto, observation devices or other sections i am interested it.
as for my part in this, i have never advocated violence, i warn people about even talking about it because it hurts our reputation, and have been called names because of that (mostly pussy or coward).
as far as posting political content, i plead guilty and will stop if frank tells me it is harming his site.

What about a Sniper's Hide II but put it on the Dark Web .

side note, my username is "popular opinion" on fark.com (news aggregate site now dominated by lefties).
i was labeled a racist russian for defending president trump.

i cried myself to sleep nightly.

I like the pit. There are alot of good threads here. I would not want to lose it.

So who is they? Name some names?
Well since you asked nicely, you joined on August 29, 2020. You have over 1000 posts since that time. I looked through 10 pages of your post history and not one of those are contributing firearms content to the site. In fact all of those are posts in the pit.

This makes me think you are either a troll, or have an extreme excess of time on your hands. Since you are stirring the shit pot on this thread it makes me think that you might be the former. Either way all signs point to You being They.
